Answer to all of your 2.0 graphics downgrade worries!

Read it.

"He promised, through a translator, that the game would be playable on a wide range of PC hardware, from lower end to high end, as well as the Playstation 3 console." ~ That line in particular which has come straight from Yoshida, and is a line that we've heard him say many times, should be evidence that with these screen shots, he is aiming for more gamers by showing them that the game has medium level settings.

If you read other parts of the article, it also sounds like the live demo was played at a higher graphic setting.

Just be patient, people! Seriously QQing because of 8 or so pictures seems TOO premature if you ask me. And there is actually more than enough evidence to support that these pictures are in fact set to standard settings, as almost every game play picture and even promotional videos of primal and dungeon battles are set to standard quality settings at low resolution.

Just food for thought, I guess.

I don't think your so-called "evidence" would hold up in a court of law. But sure, it's a possibility all the same.

People need to stop reporting that article. Even if the private interview was legit the article itself is horribly erroneous.

There are other sources that have indicated basically the same thing. And it makes sense to me, completely. It's all over the forums, and seriously just look at any video of FFXIV 1.xx that you can find. It'll all lead to the same answer. You all that disagree, are either trolling or are ignorant of what is right in front of you. There is no way that those screen shots are at the highest graphics settings.

Final Fantasy 11 is a 10 year old game, and I think many many parts of it are far more beautiful than FFXIV

Higher poly and texture resolution adds WOW to the game, I know it does but at a cost of being stripped bare and lifeless and that's greatly how XIV feels.

It isn't at its highest setting, any rocket scientist could figure that out... Just some people just have nothing better to do then to troll :p.

TBH, even if the game looked like the screenshots on max settings, I'd still be happy because I'd rather take varied zones with lower texture detail than the crap-pile zones we have now even with the highest-res textures known to man.

Having the best of both worlds would obviously be great, though, if that's something they'll be able to deliver.

Minecraft can be played on high end PCs. Just saying.
Regardless of that, I think the game still looks nice even with the rather stark lighting and simplified environment geometry.

Since we don't know anything about 2.0 at this point I think I'll just wait until after the Beta test in Oct-Jan.

I would take any typos of mistakes such as the "City of Aiorzea" or w/e it said, as proof that this article is real and not made up by some FFXIV fanboy. You could laugh at it, but this seems to be an article that is legit and written by someone that simply wrote what was said and what he heard.
