Being told to Melee LB3...

LB DPS = average ilvl of parties mainhands. Melee dealing highest LB damage cause its Single target. Casting however ruins your rotation. Depending on which Job? it's more DPS loss for the raid then another. Thus a priority list from left to right is...

NIN > MNK > fastSAM* > RPR = DRG > slowSAM

- Here's my major pet peeve...
Demanding exactly in the moment when we should LB3? Happens to often in clear parties of new Extreme's and the first 2 Savage fights of a tier. Sign of new raiders. I view Critiquing LB3 timing is equal to Critiquing my performance. I should return that critique in kind by critique theirs and yet I don't... I don't question why...

• Why their rotation is poor
• Why they don't use BiS available ilvl
• Why suboptimal melds and food buffs
• Why are they taking damage downs
• Why their uptime is so low
• Why they aren't utilizing burst windows correctly
• Why aren't they potting
• Why are they dead on the ground
• Why did they died more then once in a singular pull...

All meaningless cause somehow my LB3 should make up for all of it... Newsflash? it does't. It often is the reason why most parties don't clear, sub-par-performances.

- So... When should Melee LB3 for a clear?
At the end, when boss is about to die. Why? because staying alive seems to be very undervalued. Healer and Tank LB3 and sometimes can be so much more valuable for the sake of a clear where most fights demands most of us to " just be alive and press buttons ". We're not talking P8S doorboss here with week 1 gear with the worst Job comp you can come up with...

- Saving LB3 is your insurance
Do not ever downplay Healer LB3 when things go south which often does in first time clearing. Optimize being alive first, then when you do meet Enrage with all members alive and you don't meet the DPS check? then worry about DPS LB3 and uptimes.

Feels like a double standard... often times not even for my own clear, it's to help others clear who critique when to DPS LB3. I view that as critiquing my DPS performance, then again I am weird. Hours on end on a striking dummy amounts to nothing. God forbid I question them at the same standard of miss performing anything...

Mr. I take 4 damage downs and die twice but hammer tme on when I should LB3... holy... I can't be the only one that experiences this =__=;

I wish people would shut the fuck up about Melee LB3 when the party is in a 2 minute burst window.

I vaguely recall a rule of thumb along the lines of "using healer LB3 to revive at least 2-3 people without weakness is better for damage." That's probably true assuming they don't die again, though even if they did a DPS LB3 probably wouldn't save the day.

And in EX3, it was tank LB3 saving the day.

As a NIN I know it's my job to melee LB, but you guys are gonna have to wait if trick is up. Yelling at me to do it won't make it happen any faster.

Even if I mean "Please LB after this burst window" or "Please LB at your convenience after you finish the current microrotation" I'm still just going to type

because there's no time to type "Please LB after this burst window" or "Please LB at your convenience after you finish your current microrotation" and I'm not going to dedicate a macro slot to such.

It really feels bad to LB on DRG given the strictness of its timers but on the flipside it has the lowest personal dps of the 5 atm so i feel obliged to use it regardless (unless the other melee is underperforming).

The time you took to write this post you could have just LB'd.

The real play, as a healer, is to say "melee, LB when you're ready. <se.2>" Just make a macro for it and put it somewhere nearby but still out of the way. When you feel confident that the LB is best spent on damage, then you hit the macro. Simple as. This leaves the exact timing in the hands of the melee without explicitly saying "hey, I know you're in the middle of your burst window so just go ahead and LB when you're done. The sound effect snaps people out of their rotation long enough to acknowledge the chat log and then make the decision from there on out.

Wonder if they could slap something like Alexander's buff pause thing to LBs...

If we're not in our 2 min burst and the boss drops to 8% and the melee hasn't used the LB3 yet, I'll use it as a caster.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the melee dps' spell. (Outside of healer or tank moments where it would be better put to use.)

It's generally speaking not to be touched by the casters or ranged dps. Simply because melee deals higher single target damage.

But with that being said, it's also a melee's job to watch the bosses health and know when to use it. If they're sleeping on it and not doing their job, I'll pick up the slack and use it.

Of course this is only outside of the 2 min burst window. If we're currently in the burst window, I'll wait for the melee to finish up their burst rotation...... and then snipe it from them before they can use it! Mwahaha! /s

I thought I was the only one who was annoyed by this. Or when they yell for LB right when a mech is about to happen. Yea. No. You'll just have to wait until I'm good and ready.

Being told to melee LB3 is pretty much the same thing as being told to git gud.

Love it when aoes are everywhere and mechanics are happening yet some guy who's been dead half the fight is like "mELleE LiMiT BrEak nOw"
like, jesus dude chill out. with how you've been murdering yourself and others left and right, I'm low-key saving LB for the healer anyway tbh

for me melee lb3 functions more like wipe the party button then anything else because pretty much anytime I use it we get a wipe later that a heal lb3 could have stopped

Then you're using it WAY too early.

I just want the melee to LB3 so the Red Mage won't. My eyes can't take much more of that & they usually manage JUST when there's some mechanic I really need to see.
