Highland/Alpine partitions: the bare minimum.

Y'know, I can't quite say why this is so rage-inducing for me. I'm not a rage-y person, after all, and most things in video games that may upset most of their player base receive a shrug from me at best.

But there is something about the fact that we are almost six months post-Ishgard housing launch without the partitions to match the housing we've been anticipating for a year+ prior... that really, really, gets my goat. Really grinds my gears.

I think because it's the absolute bare minimum - that's why I'm so peeved. There's just no reason whatsoever that partitions to match the Ishgardian interiors couldn't have been dropped already.

This is definitely peak "haha entitled gamer baby rant lol", yes, I get it. But I just gotta shout this out into the empty void somewhere and empty it out, because I want to really make my FC's house look nice. We were so lucky to get it, after all. And yet I'm so displeased that there's just no partitions, guys. The marble ones suck. The other ones feel like a waste of gil, because if, Heaven forbid, they DO actually give us proper partitions [probably in another six months, ahahAHAHAH-] I'll have to buy them and rebuild this whole dumb thing all over again.

So, if anyone wants to come at me with a qq, go for it. But sometimes when a company half-a**es something, anything, they deserve an angry customer or two.

You are 100% correct. We need those partitions and pillars. Like, tomorrow.

There's so much furniture sitting in Ishgard unused. Same with a lot of ARR overworld furnishings we never got. Like the barrel chairs in Wineport, the fireplace in Wineport, the plush white seating in the Archery leader's office, ceiling plants that actually hang from the ceiling.

The assets are there, they're coded, please let us use them.

Exactly! I don't see why they don't release all furnishing assets, even if it's in staggered stages and even if you have to buy them from a housing merchant so they don't have to come up with crafting recipes. I'm an omni-gatherer/crafter and prefer to make my own stuff from scratch, but I'd be willing to spend the Gil to buy items that I'd need to complete a theme or look.

Probably it's a database/communications issue related to the marketboard. Part of the reason they removed HQ gathered materials from the game was to reduce the number of different item IDs the MB needed in its database.

Adding a list of specific assets already in the game that you want to use in housing to the Housing Request thread is probably the best way to go. It was a source of amusement to me to discover that the Antique Sink added last expansion was the same that's been part of the Culinarian's Guild at the Bismarck since at least ARR (or maybe even 1.0 for all I know). I suspect it was probably added as a result of player requests.

Alpine Partition
Blank Alpine Partition
Alpine Partition Door

These are basically essential additions guys.

And while they're at it, make the glade partition and door match, thanks. Don't repeat that mistake with the highland partition either.

Let's not forget the matching pillars everyone!

I agree. Very bizarre to launch a new district without the matching walls and pillars.

Would be nice to have blank door partitions that match the different housing styles as well, but that may be some sort of engine limitation.

To you, perhaps. I really enjoy the wooden arched designs built into the Empyreum walls and its silly we can't utilize them more because SE decided not to add partitions and such for the new district into the game.

One of the reasons they are not doing it anymore is probably because they believe, everyone uses nothing but marble partitions.
"Hey, we got new window partitions for you". They only match marble partitions.
"Hey, we got new partition-integrated shelves for you". They only match marble partitions.
"Hey, we got new curved partitions für you!". Guess which partitions those are matching.

By the time they deliver the basics for Ishgard Housing, those will probably somehow only match marble partitions as well xD.

1000000% the reason i haven't really decorated my fc's large that we were so excited about getting. I wanted to make it really fancy and do different rooms and right now its just like open bc i cannot bring myself to use another style partition, the wood doesn't match!!! And as you say if i used another partition for now, i'd have to just redo it all when we do eventually (hopefully) get the right ones and I do a lot of glitching so it seems like too much work to do it and then redo it later ><

in all seriousness, I don't understand the devs. It feels like they throw random, mostly useless furniture in with each patch rather than make furniture sets like kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms etc. Instead, we get one cool looking piece that matches nothing else.

there's amazing furniture sitting around in the game unused & will be like that for a long time- whoever is in charge of housing at ffxiv doesn't check anything regarding requests, just "oh contest stuff needs to be added" and then logs off

I'm still waiting for more Thavnair furniture for my house & I have an apartment sitting in Ishgard waiting to be decorated once more Ishgard assets are released

As far as Ishgard goes, at the inn the wood floor is aged & uneven & I LOVE it. I want to use it
and the amazing pillars- why are the ishgard pillars so amazing? because they're small & look like distressed wood- Almost all of the other pillars we have are way too big- so the Ishgard ones I get why people are frustrated
It's housing stuff, much of the additions given to us later to match older sets don't match at all. (looking at you marble sets) --- (also, looking at you round stained glass window) the round stained glass window doesn't have the beautiful blue glow that the others have

some of the marble furniture doesn't even match the originals
I for one, HATE the marble furniture - anymore when furniture is added I don't even bother because I know likely, it's another marble furniture set I won't use

They added this, which is really nice and suits for tavern designs BUT pray tell with what should I match it with if I wanted to make a counter with it..?
To think that this exact piece is available in The Firmament... but complete with corner counter and all!

I think they roll a randomizer what furniture to add next instead of something that actually fits together.

There is no need of it, the base design of the house interrior with wood and the likes and whatsoever original colors IS covering all that... those few things we got extra is to make more rooms and the likes, if anything they may need to add a blank partion with a door in you can color on your own.

There really is a need, especially if you are lucky enough to have one of the larger houses; a mansion with only the default walls can look more like a warehouse than a dwelling! Even with a small house, people have the space to make extra rooms and most decorators will. So yes, pillars and partitions, including an Alpine blank partition you can put wallpaper on, are definitely needed.
As to getting an Alpine partition with a door, good luck with that! We have 3 so far, one for each of the original housing areas. Nothing for Shirogane at all. I'd like to think they are going to introduce more housing-area specific partitions with options like doors and archways for each, but since we are missing some absolute basics like default pillars and partitions, I don't have a lot of hope.

And when these items are finally introduced, let's hope the base of the partitions actually matches the walls because we've seen a lot of items introduced over time that should match earlier furnishings but which don't match at all. Not sure why it's so hard to get all the marble to be the same colour or the skirting on a partition to match the walls, but clearly it is.

You are incorrect. I'm going to assume that you don't partake in much house decorating.

Considering there are pillars/ wall designs from the other house areas such as the lavender beds, the mists and the goblet- there has yet to be an implementation of such for the Empyreum

We are still waiting for these items

Plenty, the base walls you get is the design of the house if you chose mist, shiro, lavender, goblet or ishgaard housing.

If it is a matter about replacing the entire design NOT using the design at all from eg the mist or the likes, then what is the point other than proving can't handle the very base of everything, you got to make due with items and when it all comes to it, you need to work with what you got, otherwise house decoration is a lost cause as well as showing a lack of creativity.

I think you're missing the point, TheMarvin.
All the other areas apart from Empyreum have pillars and partitions that match the base walls.
Shirogane got their pillar and partitions one patch after that area released (iirc), but as far as I know, they never got half-partitions or a partition with a door.
Empyreum owners ares still waiting for an Alpine pillar and partition.

Sure, we have to make do with what we've got and that's what we're doing. However, that doesn't mean we're being served well.
Like the OP I would have thought matching partitions and a pillar was the least Empyreum owners could expect. We're not asking for the moon, just the same items that people living in the other areas already have.

The only choice we have is to work with what we have; dude. So, it sounds like you just embrace a square room which is great & all, but some of us actually enjoy the complexity of decorating.

You may be okay with not wanting or needing or whatever, the ishgard pillars/ walls etc. But you don't speak for the many here, who do want these items implemented because there's no reason they shouldn't be.
Also, this is a thread about the fact that we have items from the other housing wards, but NOT ishgard - so in simple terms, we have pillars/wall designs from every other house area EXCEPT the Empyreum aka: ishgard

This ^ makes me think you have still failed to grasp the issue. Every other ward doesn't have the same limitations that Empyreum does. That's why we're asking nicely for 2 extra pieces of furniture that every other single ward has.
I'm really not sure if you're trolling at this point. I don't think there is a clearer way to explain why our request is reasonable besides pointing out that every other housing district has it's own pillars and partitions that may be crafted or purchased but Empyreum does not.

If you are simply arguing semantics then sure virtual furniture isn't needed, nor is a virtual house, though I notice from other threads that you care enough about virtual houses to want to take some off other players.
Anyway, I don't think we're going to reach an understanding on this.

The other wards do have their limited partitions to their build format, EXCEPT Ishgard- There are Glade Partitions (Lavender beds) There are Glade Pillars (again, lavender beds) Do you know what there is not? It has nothing to do with creativity, but a lack of resources- you saying it's a lack of creativity is just you being cornered & throwing an insult because you came here without a valid point.

I respectfully disagree; my reasoning below.

I would argue that creativity has its limits within the confines of the system within which they reside - it falls outside of the typical SCAMPER logic of housing design due to system constraints that are unique to Ishgard homes exclusively at this time. A pillar being in a inconvient place is a issue of creativity - how to you build around or incorporate it into the build - those are your only options. A good point to consider - in all other layouts - you can blend your construction into the existing layout due to the existence of matching partitions/pillars. The option is currently absent which results in a net loss of options - in essence it makes Ishgard homes the lesser option due to the limitations of the structure. It results in more item slots to replicate the same effect possible in all other ward layouts.

Secondly, its no surprise that housing oversights happen - I think a good example of this would be the curved marble partition or the Glade Door partition. I believe that the high-land limitation is merely a oversight; and I think a request for it to be made equal is not unrealistic; its merely a desire in short for Ishgard designing to follow essentially the same design limitations as all other wards - something very vexing to many designers due to the sparse limitations on item budget - which I think you might agree with me is the greatest hurdle to creativity. In essence I do not think the request comes from a place of laziness or entitlement; rather merely the result of a upset of design options which also has a tendency to rob Ishgard of the alpine aesthetic due to folks having to take extensive measures to deal with Ishgard bones lacking matching components.

creativity is already greatly limited in the game. People always go for the modern look because doing anything archaic or fantasy looking is nigh impossible with the numerous amount of mismatched furniture along with teh vanilla walls not being very accommodating to wall mounted items.

The devs need to remove or have an optional snap to surface option. Allow 6 degrees of freedom with the placement of all items. Completely overhaul how house walls work with the ability to swap them out for different wall types. After all, we know it's already possible for them to change the interior of houses since Free Company apartments stay intact when they are moved from one housing area to another. So since the furniture locations are saved in a database with x/y/z coordinates, then they could make a system so that you can swap out the interiors of houses/apartments.

I remember it was the same on Hingashi, took ages till i had matching walls... especially the custom ones....
