Story unravelled (sorry SE) (Spoiler: Patch 6.2 - 7.0)

Due to my post being nearly 10000 characters, I made a reddit post instead here.

Things that are discovered, uncovered and theorized are:

- Connection between Contramemoria and flood of darkness.
- Connection between Golbez and the Thirteenth god that was sealed away in the moon.
- Connection between Igeyorhm and Shemhazai.
- Connection between Igeyorhm and the Thirteenth.
- Connection between Igeyorhm and the Twelve.
- Connection between the Twelve and Pandæmonium.
- Connection between splitting soul and the Ascians.
- Connection between the Twelve and the calamities.
- Connection between the calamities and the elemental wheel.
- Connection between the elemental wheel and the rejoinings.
- High likelyhood of 6 new calamities caused by Halone,
Nymeia, Nald'Thal, Oschon, Rhalgr and Nophica.

I would not say 'high likelihood' at all.

i don't think the gods non interference rule would allow them to cause calamities. theres also the fact they really do seem to love all mortals.

The main thing that's sticking out in my mind is the prophecy in the Studium quests suggesting some manner of change is going to befall the Lifestream and invite disaster, and now the latest Rising quest speaks of a great "change" that is about to come to the world.

Given all the stuff that's happened lately between the flood of dynamis bearing down on the world (And apparently still lingering in some capacity), the droves of Ancient souls within Zodiark returning to the aetherial sea, and Hydaelyn's absence potentially having unforeseen consequences it would be more surprising to me if something about the natural order didn't get disturbed sooner then later.

We already know that the “memoria” are auracite and that the flood of darkness was caused by WoLs sealing primals in them and then going power crazy, turning people into the voidsent.

The god sealed on the moon was Zodiark, not one of the Twelve.

Igeyorhm was just the Ascian tasked with rejoining the Thirteenth, I don’t think there was anything more behind that. We already knew back in ARR that all of the Ascians get their names and glyphs from deep FFXII lore, but they have 0 connection to FFXII’s scions beyond it except a nod to FFXII.

The last calamity that we had was unaspected astral. The one that we prevented was unaspected umbral. Up until the seventh calamity, they did go around the wheel in order but now it’s been thrown out the window.

In the 8UC timeline where the Ascians are still alive, they can’t do all of the elements all over again because they only have 5 worlds left and 6 elements.

Good point. But it seems pretty coincidental that a calamity would happen at very specific types of events.

Well, considering that Bahamut's Triple Triad Card is darkness element and that the attack he used that was considered a calamity although it did not span the entire world, was considered non elemental.
Some think that non-elemental is just the combination og all elements.

I think there still are 6 reflections including the Thirteenth. So I think the story will seek out to purify the Thirteenth of its darkness similar to how we purified the first of its light.

non elemental is just pure neutral aether. and yeah the .x patches do mention trying to save the thirteenth a few times.

That's how the Ascians rejoined shards into the Source: the Thirteenth was the first that Igeyorhm tried to rejoin and failed at, and instead flooded it with darkness. It wasn't until later that they found the balance of slowly flood a Shard with an element, deprive the Source of that element, and it'll siphon from one of the Shards to regain it, causing some manner of disaster on the Source when the Shard is rejoined since it's flooding the Source with the missing element. Dark and Light are unaspected, since there's no actual element to them like lightning, wind, water, etc. and as said in Shadowbringers, Dark is Astral (always moving, kinetic energy) and Light is Umbral (stasis, unmoving, sluggish). Louisoix stopped the Dark-aligned Calamity from being worse than it was, however a Shard was still rejoined. The 8th Umbral Calamity was stopped completely via the events of Shadowbringers, and as of Endwalker, no more Calamities should happen... hopefully.

Re: saving the 13th, they mentioned doing the same with the 13th as we did on the 1st a lot, and have mentioned Eden plenty. Further in the all ShB 70-80 role quests completed,

we learn that Cyella was the female elezen with Ardbert and she was actually from the 13th. In the follow up quest, you bring Unukalhai to the First to meet with Cyella as he was also from the 13th before the corruption. In some new dialogue post 6.2, both Cylva and Unu are surprised to hear that you've traveled to the 13th and may try to save it.

Its becoming very highly likely related with the end of a certain current raid right now.

Once again Yoshi P. playing us like a fiddle.

I think the only thing that is for sure is that Golbez will remove his helmet and reveal himself. They've done this with every villain, except Estinien possessed by Nidhoog.

I'm not sure that most of the connections made by the original post are even going to factor in here.

But I think Golbez being connected to the Ancients is likely given that one of the final scenes of 6.2, which is a flashback Golbez has shows him with what appears to be an Ancient. Plus the 6.1 cutscene claims they've waited nearly 10 thousand years to execute their plan.

It might also be that since all the elements have been represented or activated clock-wise along the ring of the elemental wheel. According to the Eorzea lore book, the three conquerts and three submissions fit very well to the remaining Twelve gods, if we exclude the gods that have been represented already.

By taking into consideration the three conquerts and three submissions, and the nature of the gods that represent the elements left that are associated with these. I propose this possible relationship.

Fire is exstinguished by Wind.
Umbral Fire / Condemned Souls (Nald'thal) is stopped by Umbral Wind / Freedom (Oschon)

Umbral Ice / Emotionally troubled (Menphina) is stopped by Umbral Fire / Peace in afterlife (Nald'thal)

Wind is obstructed by Ice.
Umbral Wind / Depression (Oschon) is stopped by Umbral Ice / Love (Menphina)

Darkness and light aren't elements but aspects, synonymous with astral/active and umbral/passive energies respectively.

Proposing "astral light and umbral light" as elemental combinations is in the realm of proposing "dry water and wet water".

And the madness and bliss thing has no canon basis to my awareness.

To be honest, i rather have all these dangling plot threads than having everything be answered right away. I wouldn’t have much to look forward to if i wasn't intrigued by all these locations Emet Selch mentioned at the end, or by thinking about what Azem was up to during the final days.

Some may not be answered, or might get retcon into something new, but i always loved when they take something we don't know everything about, and expand on it.

For example the primal and their summoning, during ARR i had a ton of unanswered questions about how these worked. I was really happy when Heavensward and Shadowbringers expanded upon them.

On the contrary, that seems to be deliberately how they work. Leave plot threads hanging here so they can be picked up and woven into a connecting story later, possibly years down the track.

It's only a problem if they forget to come back to it until the story has shifted so much it doesn't make sense any more.

It has in fact been actually stated in interviews that this is how they work. Not entirely willingly mind you, they were basically forced down this road with the 1.0/ARR situation, but at the same time it's also basically the only feasible way to write a long-term story like this anyway, so they would've gotten into this sooner or later.

Fortunately for everyone involved, they happen to be quite good at it.

One thing I'm also curious about is Lahabrea in ARR.
There he has his entire mask, meaning he must have rejoined with his other half from Pandæmonium, this was pointed out in Bellular's latest vid. Which leads to the question, was he able to confront his own feelings and ideals to overcome his other half?

I expect the answer to be no.

So I really hope that this is the way they go.

That they found out how to rejoin the reflections (after failure of the Thirteenth), and that to do it, they needed a presence in all reflections that could help weaken the barrier between the reflections and the source through calamities.

But I don't actually think the Twelve actually are on team with the Ascians. So I think the ways the Ascians have "caused" calamities is by being the ones in the shadows puppeteering situations that forces the Twelve to react.

So maby the Twelve are the good half of the Convocation, while the bad half of the convocation are the Ascians.
