That is all.
When we zoned into Abyssos, first thing I said was....
Someone tell Tataru we found her carbuncle..and it is in a VERY bad mood....
Agreed!
And as for the music.....

I don't think this is Soken. The entire tier feels closer to Takafumi Imamura's style (The Queen Awakens, Wrath of the Harrier, Blinding Indigo, Twice Striken, Seven Flames..)
Not your fault though, SE seems to do everything they can to make people think Soken is the only member of the music team.
Im fairly sure you will find Soken was the composer.Quote:

Based on what? Soken only worked on four of the Eden battle songs (Primal Angel, Return to Oblivion, Don't Be Afraid and Promises to Keep). Since he did all the previous Pandemonium songs, it's unlikely he's also in charge of this tier.
Imamura has a very particular style which is distinct from Soken. I don't think I'm wrong with my assertion.
When it comes to the music, I've seen very few people saying it wasn't good. Not saying there aren't those who don't like it, just that they are far fewer than your comment would lead some to believe.
But I definitely agree the music is amazing, and I tend to turn my volume up for it when I get into those raids.
Where would one find who the composer is?
While I'm inclined to agree with you in part -- the "in part" being that I don't think the fourth fight's music feels like Imamura to me, but rather a Soken-created mashup of several other musical lietmotifs -- I would note that I've sometimes been surprised by tracks that genuinely were Soken; he's surprisingly versatile, style-wise.
But yes, Imamura has a specific style, and while I would not be surprised to find Soken can compose in the same style, I do suspect you're correct.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure there is a good way until the actual soundtrack comes out... and maybe not even then.
I can't speak for the versions in, say, the iTunes store or whatever, but if you order the Japanese Blu-Ray soundtrack (e.g., the "BD-Music" format disc), the digital audio files do (usually) have full metadata. And while they seem to give the 'artist' field to the conductor -- which is thus Soken, because so far as I know he does conduct the recording sessions -- the individual tracks do (again: usually) have the composer field filled out properly.
Like, if you look at the Shadowbringers soundtracks, "Alien Manifestation" (from the NieR raids) shows the composer as "Keiichi Okabe, Keigo Hoashi", while "Eternal Wind" shows the composer as "Nobuo Uematsu", etc.
Unfortunately, they are not always 100% on the ball; there are some tracks on some soundtrack volumes missing the composer data. Moreover -- with the apparent exception of Uematsu, who presumably gets special dispensation -- if someone does a re-arrangement of a track, it seems to be that composer who gets the credit on the album. And Soken does do cleanup/final tweaks on a lot of tracks, so...
Like I said, it's not a 100% way to get an answer on who did the track.
All i have to say is the music in new dungeon last boss and P5n-P8n is banging !
This is the best patch in quite some time. The MSQ was great, the armor sets are incredible, the fights are super fun, and that FFIV boss remix has been stuck in my head for days. Well done devs!
I loved the music as well, been listening non stop yesterday! I do wonder who the singer is, I dont think its the same lady singing flow but Im not quite sure...Ah damn now I must listen to flow, that song is gold.
the hell do you expect in a forum? all of us to agree with every decision ever made, throw logic out the window and sing happy songs on how all content is great and if you dont agree your a hater loser wow refugee? If you need that type of caustic echochambering go to reddit. Im here to debate and argue that your game sucks and has the potential to be better, always
Spoilers but MSQ is interesting, though that begs the question as to why Exarch spent a ungodly amount of time and power trying to summon us to the first when we casually just walk in and out of the thirteenth like its a mall. Im hooked on the thirteenth as a world buuuuut SE aint sly, I see you minimize the content. We used to get a separate story arch for the trials now weve regressed way back into ARR where its part of MSQ, not sure if I like getting less content but a trial is a trial. Dungeon unceremoniously sucks ass like a airplane toilet
There's also the subtle changes in the World of Darkness Alliance Raid. The bosses now disperse in those purple sparkles in the same way you saw it happening with the Voidsent in the 6.2 MSQ
1. He had to create a passageway (aether consumed) -- which is derived from the summoning the Crystal Tower over whereas a Planar fissure is a naturally occurring poral - so it's always linked to its set location and does not require additional power to move between locations.
2. They reverse-engineered the process in how traversing between worlds work - Planar Fissures. Except this is the First to the Source, not the Thirteenth. New coordinates had to be set based on where the WoL is, not to mention they transport the object rather than create a pathway when summoning. This was further strengthened by the fact they had a beacon as the medium to yank the WoL entirely, creating a direct and stable conduit to transport more than a soul --- even then he was still malms off where we should have landed on his first attempt to bridge the worlds.
3. There is a 100 year time-zone difference. It closed to 5 years, then 3 years, then 1 year in a short span of time. That means the Exarch had to constantly recalculate the location of the WoL while taking into account of the time difference when bridging between worlds. This also makes creating a direct passageway much more complicated when bringing someone over from the other side.
Basically, a naturally formed portal in a fixed location works differently from a technique that uses a medium to cross space and time and has no specific exit point to summon out from. One requires a lot more finesse, aether, and control, but has a lot more flexibility as a result.
Well... I guess a better example would be to think of Reaper's Hells Ingress (Dash skill) and Ninja's Shukuchi (Dash skill). Reaper can teleport from a fixed location (entry/exit point). Ninja's Shukuchi goes one way with each use and can land anywhere in the range of their choosing, but in the Exarch's case, Shukuchi can let the Exarch designate anyone he chooses to jump back up to 10 seconds into the past as well.
I think you're misunderstanding how the time difference between the two world works. He isn't pulling the Scions "into the past" – they are travelling through space, not time. The only difference is that time is moving much slower (from an external viewpoint) in the First than in the Source, so the span of time between the Flood of Light to Shadowbringers – ie. around patch 3.4 to 5.0 – is a hundred years in the First but only a few months in the Source.
Far from having to constantly recalculate where we are, the Exarch would have been watching our adventures in Stormblood play out in painfully slow motion.
I explained it poorly. It's undeniable that the 8th Umbral Calamity already happened in that future time. To prevent it, they had to go back in time and to another location where the events happened (The First). This was how they moved the Crystal Tower over to The First 100 years before the Calamity struck, and this technique was an extension of what the Exarch used to pull us over due to the time differences between the two worlds.
It was stated in the game that the time flow in The First has been steadily getting closer to match the time in the source until the arrival of the WoL. That meant that time definitely did flow at varying speeds. I presume a magic that requires specific coordinates can be easily botched in that manner if the difference in pulling someone over can range from 5 years to practically instant without a way to bridge time as well, or the Exarch would have to continually cast the "calling" technique for possibly weeks or months before a scion was summoned over. Based on how the technique works in 5.3 and in 6.0, we can presume that should not be the case.
But that isn't what is happening.
The Exarch is only ever pulling them from "now" to " now".
It's the difference in time flow that results in those spans of years between the Scions' arrivals in the First.
From our perspective, Thancred was snatched, and then a few days later it happened again to Y'shtola and Urianger.
From the Exarch's perspective, he tried to summon us, got Thancred instead, and for whatever reason it was another two years until he performed the summoning that snagged the next two Scions.
There's no need for time travel to get involved. Just an imbalance of how much time is passing for each world.
I'm assuming they are building up something bigger while tying up loose ends. It's certainly more appreciated than, say, never talking about a giant sword anymore.
Also, maybe I'm having a stroke but didn't someone in the MSQ say it's 'easier' to go to the 13th because Void or something? Maybe I'm misremembering.
The music is definitely a big hit for me, happily waiting to hear the savage one from the pandaemonium raid.
Also the minion from the dungeon is one of my favorites so far with that funny description at the end
