It was a pleasant surprise. We had matching hairstyles.
It felt like a waste in multiple directions.
In one direction, I never like the trite "emotional lessons" they try to squeeze into these seasonal quests. It would have been better to have a two-minute excuse plot of R'fhul turning up and going "cool, there's a new course, let's try it!" – he can still get a harmless bomb to the face and fall off and whatever, and make Majha fret, with no need to introduce new characters that do nothing but stand there.
And in the other direction, having introduced them, they're such non-characters. No names, no personalities.
I also skip cutscenes for this event cus i dont really care about any cutscenes events or any event we had, got my stuff and headed out lol the only time i didn’t skip was Noctis’s and Iroha’s event which was my two favorites lol xD i can always rewatch the skipped cutscenes in the inns
I was more surprised that they had the tribe NPCs there. Didn't expect to see some of the ARR tribe crew there.
I've always wondered... wouldn't a race that has primarily lived underground end up developing less skin pigment, not more? Always seemed weird that they're "meant" to have darker tones, when kinda any other cave dwelling (or deep sea, or general low/no light environment) will tend towards something closer to albino...
But, I'll be damned if every time I see it I don't regret going for a lighter tone. They always pull it off so well.
I see it as a nod to D&D's drow or dark anything really.
A lot of times you read about fairy tales where you go to this "dark forest" or cave or X area and you too are warped unnaturally. So... that could be what it is.
As to the OP's question. I... don't really care? Doesn't add much more Duskwight lore to the many many questions I'd like answered. I would be more surprised if we get a prominent Duskwight NPC in the MSQ.
My character is a Duskwight elezen. I chose ivory skin for a variety of reasons.
