Would you be ok if they added new animations set and sound for different job in the mog station ? :3
No. Outfits and stuff is one thing, and if I had it my way the entire mogstation wouldnt exist. But animations is a step too far for me.
Frankly I'm sure that even if they did worse than that the community would still be there
Just be realistic, gamers nowadays are not respected and it's normal since we accept to pay no matter how we are treated
I've often seen people, the community complains and may even threaten but in the end they pay and that's the most important thing for them
I will never forget for example the moment when the developer of battlefield 5 told the players that if they were not happy they could not buy the game and that they had no value in his eyes, the players got angry but in the end they paid
Same thing for fallout 76 they got a defective product and got ripped off but in the end they pay and even defend the game if anyone dares to criticize
In short they will do as they want and you will pay your subscription no matter what
Battlefield V was a huge failure for DICE they had to discount so hard to get people interested in it. the only reason I own it is because it came bundled with the other Battlefield games for like £7. What's obviously not a good return on investment for DICE.
Haven't even touched it.

I pay even if SE does horrible things because I have precious memories of my friends in my ingame home and I don't want to lose that
There is also a lot of fun stuff in the game for now
In short I don't care if they add paid animations anyway by the time they sold levels and mounts it was already too late to complain if they add more stuff
So there you have it, I never said I was special, you're the only one who thought so, probably to try to discredit me, it's pretty pathetic...
I'm of the firm belief that EVERYTHING on the mog station (except physical stuff) should be attainable in game. We already pay a subscription to play..
What makes it worse is they put more and more stuff on the mog station but keep reducing the amount t of content players get per patch....
They made a profit, that's a fact, but yes, according to their estimates, it was a failure.
Personally I find that in a normal world they should not have any customer for this BF5 at least if the gamers had some prideQuote:
The game sold 7.3 million copies by the end of 2018, but was a commercial disappointment for Electronic Arts.
We can even see that video game companies are employing more and more psychologists and mind readers to study the behavior of gamers and know how far they can go to take their money
It's not me who says it, it's professionals who have talked about it
Just look at Diablo Immortal and its system that strongly encourages consumption as if we were some cattle
so wikipedia says a bit more "In November, it was reported that Battlefield V sold fewer than half the physical copies that Battlefield 1 did upon its launch during the same period of time.[43] The game sold 7.3 million copies by the end of 2018. On February 5, 2019, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson announced that the game ultimately failed to meet sales expectations, blaming the game's marketing as well as their focus on developing a single-player campaign instead of a battle royale mode, a genre which had gained recent widespread popularity. Wilson also highlighted Battlefield V's long development cycle, and release in a month of strong competition. EA's stock prices also faced its worst drop in more than a decade during its third quarter of the fiscal year, declining by around 18 percent, which EA attributed in part to the poor sales of the game"
I just checked their stock price at it hasn't still fully recovered from when BFV was released even with the boom to the video game industry that was COVID. so I think in real term it did more harm than good to EA
Between the development and the winnings the game has made profits
So yes, in the eyes of the shareholder pigs and the big fish, it's a failure, but personally, I don't care, I base it on the cost of the development and the profits
You have to understand that a success for them is a game that brings a lot of money to pigs who have never worked on the development of the gameQuote:
Battlefield 5 Took Roughly $3 Million To Make
It's the same everywhere, a game doesn't cost that much to develop and it's those who work the most who get the crumbs
Wouldn't be interested and I don't think it'd be good.
It would affect job identity I feel.
I would not be ok with it. I understand that it's 2022 but the game feels too much as a F2P already.
Absolutely not. As customers it is our responsibility to make sure that this game’s monetization doesn’t get any more out of control than it already is when compared to how little content there is to do until half-way through the expansion. This is a business relationship at the end of the day, and more players need to realize that.
This is why I'm so fervently against any kind of MTX, P2W, P2E etc. Its a slippery slope, and the wigwigs of gaming companies arent on our side. When they have psychologists on payroll to figure out how to extort even more money from me, I'm sorry. That's a step too far. And while I am thankful Yoshi P seems to have tried to keep the online store at arms length, we can already see the start of the scummy behaviours here. Things we could've got in game are in the cash shop. Things they know people want like the cruise chaser, or modern outfits, or idk, giant shiba dogs. It's all about boiling the frogs. You heat them up slowly so that they dont notice they're being boiled. It wouldnt surprise me if the addition of the Materiel Coffers (minion lootboxes) is part of this haha.
This all started with optional cosmetics. Now we have people in the gaming community being sold half a game, acting as PR for the devs so they dont feel like they're wasting their time playing it. It's so, so sad. I remember when games were made by gamers, now they're made by soulless businessmen, being directed by shareholders. I believe if a player of a game cares at all about the longevity of said game, they have a responsibility to oppose these kinds of predatory methods. The players that buy into it will find themselves in a p2w hell a few years down the line and then look around and wonder "how did we get here?". You got here because despite the outrage, it was financially profitable for the company to extort you. Now the game's dead and the company's cashed out.
Do I think this will happen in ff14? I'm not sure. But i know for a fact, as long as I'm around I will never ever stop complaining about it and sounding the alarm. So many of my favourite franchises have been ruined by greed, and I'd detest for this to go the same way. Sorry about the word dump, I'm passionate on this topic.
The game needs less monetization, not more
I think it'd be a great idea to make us pay every 72 steps we take in the game tbh.
Basically yes. Revenue from subs should be more than enough income to keep the game going and developing new content. So everything on the mog station should be attainable freely In game. Even if a bit grindy.
Perhaps tie the play dead emote to the kindness of strangers achievements. Raising 1,000 strangers or whatever that achievement is to unlock the emote .instead of making it something you have to pay extra for..
If the revenue from subs alone isn't sufficient to keep the game running then that highlights a huge problem with the games player base...
Mog Station shouldn't exist except perhaps for phyisic items like so e of the statues or security tokens or a final Fantasy xiv coffee mug..
And statues should be merely pretty statues not extremely expensive emotes.
Not like the game already does alot of money huh?
I'd rather they do use the money they already have for new things that everyone can have, instead of... you know, yet another mog station item.
But to each their own :3
You don't understand, SE is barely making enough to keep the lights on! Also, they need more equipment to set up their NFTs! You see, we NEED the mogstation to exist or XIV would never happen! Won't anyone think of the mulitbillion yen company!?
:^)
Edit: I'm sure when they finally break even we will get revived Enix classic IPs like Bust-a-Groove! One day... I'll wait, i'm patient...
No. I bought the game and I'm subscribed. That's all the money you are getting out of me. There are plenty of others that got to have the new thing as if it was a compulsive behavior so SE can milk them.
Ignore potential cost for a sec. Let's look at the idea of them adding a whole new set of animations to an increasing number of jobs that already have more and more added each expansion.
It's just not a worthwhile venture for them. They have enough to do as it is.
As others said, we need less microtransactions, not more.
I like how generally people who only play p2p games say "you gotta pay a sub but then you get everything with it". But you gotta pay box price, plus every single expansion costs as much, then there's the cash shop, microtransactions like name change, and all that on top of subscription. Hardly all included, nowadays.
And of course they also make a lot of money from physical merchandise, which they always advertise in live letters.
No I would not
They could sell animation like that if the coding would allow it and it didnt step on the designers toes
People would but it people would complain and then it would all stop
Anyone who says they would leave if they did is a hard to believe moment
do i agree with it no could they do it yeah would it be a profit possibly
all it takes is to slowly introduce things close to that .... emotes then something closer.... mount .... closer sheathe ....closer effects for classes... then boom your pants are down its a tactic that was used by EA with Fifa and Madden for a long time see how thats still going even when in 2 years there is a new game
soon as they cross that line there is no going back leave the game and find a new one at that point but like I said I doubt anyone would
but before they even bother that they need to fix alot to this game so the backlash doesn't hit like truck kun in a isekai anime
Like every mogstation item I would be more inclined to buy something if we had enough content to last me half a patch.
We've been getting less and less so I've been buying less from the mogstation.
When i'm bored with the game i'm not thinking lets buy a 20€ mount!
Like when was the last time we got a nice hairstyle that wasn't mogstation exclusive, and i'm not counting those horrible Nier hairstyles...
It is a cool idea, just not for the Mogstation. The less there, the better. 22 dollar for an outfit right now is... wow. Imagine the price of a full animation set. They guy above has a point though, gamers have no standards and it's why things get this way. (Not saying that has anything to do with you, OP.)
Anyhow, I'd rather they spend that kind of effort on making sub-classes or using the new animations for new attacks one might opt in/out for themselves, think Monster Hunter: Rise if you've ever played that. The effort should not go to farming whales.
