BOTS ARE IN THE WALLS!!!

What is going on, that SE would allow this.

I watched a group of two lalafell bots run out from inside a wall in coerthas after pulling two muddy puppies into a wall from an MSQ quest.

I have seen bots inside walls at Uldah GC, and under floors walking sands.

They are going through MSQ in the walls and under the ground.

If SE doesn't want to fix, can we all do this, they also teleport automatically.

Can we get the exploit public please.

It's been going on for years. All you can do is report them when you see them.

It would be nice if they made the process of reporting botting/cheating easier like they did with RMT-advertising. ((´д｀))

You can't report it in game, remember that.

You have to use the special task force system on the website.

This kind of stuff is actually really common on Lamia. You see them at the Waking Sands a lot.

They allow it because the bots are paying customers, but they don't want to make it publicly available because it gives the anti-bot players a measure of hope that SE will one day fix it and strings them along. It also means the bots have customers and keeps the cycle going.

If you feel like reporting them and it makes you feel like you're contributing, go for it. I got disillusioned years ago.

do you people have no common sense? if you report them, the STF has to actually do some work. I mean otherwise the reports just add up if someone doesnt delete them.

unless they recently hired an intern to do that so the 3 person team can remain drinking tea...

It will always happen. The people that have bots make money. All this world is focused on is making money. Nothing else matters. SE can ban them endlessly and the cycle will continue. Get used to it. It will NEVER go away.

There are many things that can be done against it. If i see how long advertisers can stay it is a clear indication that there simply is a severe lack of checking to begin with. Spamming the advertisement a few times should be more than enough to indicate a red flag. And sure, if those advertisers then suddently need to act like a player, this also increases the costs as code to actively play the game costs a lot more power than just idling in a main city.

Its not always about instantly stopping them, raising their costs is generaly far more effective. Since if the rmt price becomes too high, people wont pay for that either. This is still the most effective way to disrupt these.

And thats why ingame reporting is such important tool. Even though currently SE barely uses this information (too many bots just spam a message in the NN and never do anything else. A message that for the past month has never changed). SE shows clear signs of lazyness, and yes, then bots become excessive. Runescape used to be plagued with bots as well. until at some point the dev simply used pattern detection to detect the bots. Causing a massive banwave and reduced botting for a quite long time. Even if the bots are based on private code, they are very likely to show patterns. This is info that is very well usable and quite easy to detect. Each hotspot node for a bot only needs to check players inside that zone, and based on timestamp patterns, you can generaly detect which players are very likely to be bots as they are very consistent in timing (and note, if the botter has to slow down the bot, that means the costs already increase). And those hotspots that you check are very hard to identify on the botter side (since its not 1 zone that detected them, but many). Forcing complete randomness on their side, and this is very hard to do efficiently.

I feel like they could nix the teleport hackers by adding kill zones in out of the bounds areas they need to pass through and/or adjusting enemy AI so it resets if it's unable to execute its script properly due to its target being in the floor or in the air.

Like I said, ideal way. Not a factual one, since there are a myriad of varied persons out there and some don't give a s... for ethics or fairness. Anyway, I encourage people to do their part telling this: NEVER BUY GIL.

Some people don't know the connection between bots and the gil black market. I think it's up to us to tell them, since SE don't mind doing that in our stead. If we reduce the number of gil buyers then the bot companies will take that as a non profitable work and maybe they reduce the number of bots.

It's like an ant fighting an elephant... but it's what we can do beside reporting :(

hard ban the people buying the gil.. their market dries up, less bots.

pushing SE to deal with the bots will never make them go away. push SE to deal with the real issue, which are the people giving the bots a market in the first place. the bots are just taking advantage of a market, no market.. fewer bots... period.

the same issue with society... dont fix the problem.. fix the symptoms. if society was committed to actually fixing the problem instead of applying bandaids, things would be better.

Because they are fine how it is, the truth is bots are a permanent problem no many how many resources you put into it, most notably when you have a free trial.
They could add kill zones, what would it help? The botters would adjust, suddenly we have thousand of bots on the surface which just discourages players, particularly new players.
If they really want it to stop they would have to spend a lot of resources because you can't win against botters, they have nothing to lose really, it means the only people
that are valueable to ban are the buyers, however, the gold market is gigantic and you could say that at least 20-40% of any community buys gold. That means from a company

It's not like SE can't fight it, they just don't want to. The "1000" bots or whatever they ban each week are just to scare people off and fill their hunting propaganda which is easly

you would be surprised how many would stop if it gets out there is a harsh penalty.

that many people buy because there are zero repercussions. you announce it, you start it, and word gets around.... your 20-40% dries up real fast

no one wants to lose their hard work. they wouldnt lose that many subscribers, thats just being alarmist. people arent that stupid, just that lazy....

Two changes
1. Rightclick report, on the bots THEMSEVLES, not just in chat, (both, and in the adventuers in zone list) that goes right to the special team.
2. Increasing the special team to enough people to actually handle it. (40 people instead of 4)

What they need is an actual GM for each world to investigate and boot these things on the spot.

GM's are not allowed to touch bots, they get fired if they so much as intentionally enter a room where a bot is.
It's not thier job, it's the special team's job, and if they overstep, they get in trouble.

We have to live with that, thus making suggestions ot make the special team actually USEFUL.

The GMs will ban bots if they can find a valid loophole, like them causing obstruction of gameplay due to them interfering with quest progression.

I feel like most of the problems just boil down to SE being so heavily reliant on the puny STF team when typical MMOs tend to have extensive enforcement teams dedicated to handling individual servers or clusters.

Listen, those bots paid for an account and subscription time (but don't ask where they got the cash for it!), they have a right to do whatever they want and no company worth their salt is going to ban the whales, lol. Every MMO goes through this and to think that SE is going to put long term value over quick profits seems silly. Modern companies are short sighted and even though the golden goose makes really good eggs, I bet some golden duck meat sells for a lot more!

This makes absolutely zero sense to me. Why hamper the functionality of the only group of staff actually in the game on a regular basis?

Yeah. Been happening since arr. There's a spot at costa del sol that if you start a leve at and let the enemy hit you at the right moment while doing another thing I won't say, it'll shove you underground.

pretty sure the policy makes zero sense to anyone... except the STF who do not seem to do much but have tea all day

Can't they do a backend played XYZ position search, and if it returns a value not in the map area.

The underground ones should be easy to spot from Z axis alone.

Did you assume their gender? You gotta respect all characters, even the ones that sit in limsa asking you to visit gil selling web sites.
