Seriously I go to any main city and it's nothing but spam from people advertising their stupid erp cafe. Can we go back to banning them please? I'm tired of nonstop erp cafe spam.

I wish they would at least ban the ones with URLs that lead to porn.
I used to report the ones that did (explaining how people under the age of 18 play this game) and nothing happens. It makes you wonder if some GMs in their downtime host some of these on their non-GM alts.
Not all of them are ERP, but ERP happens in MMOs and as the game has grown in popularity the ERPers have moved over as well and now you just see the 18+ advertisements everywhere.
I'd just turn shout chat off if it's nothing but spam, my guy.
I wonder how bad things will get if they ever add a Whip Class.
Didn't they cleanse PF of all the ads at one point?
They did and more. They used to ban outright for it. Now it's basically encouraged to the point they don't even punish people for buying billboards to advertise their erp cafe on public streets.
I guess Yoshii P doesn't care about copyright claims or any of that.
I think paddles are more popular, perhaps they can be alternate weapons?
They were never removed from party finders on Crystal for sure and other servers seem to be full and have always been full of venues in the evening and I play this game on multiple data centers. Whether these exist in Japan i can't say given i don't read the language. Perhaps I need to DC travel to Tonberry where they speak a lot of English.
Honestly, I feel like they should just rework the largely ignored fellowship finder into an announcement board for player events and venues as well. Furthermore, create a chat channel specifically for player announcements that people can opt into or out of like any other chat channel we presently have. While I can't stand all the various stupid club spam and "DJ" this or that ads, I don't think shutting people down altogether is the right course of action either. Remove it from the general shout channel and party finder, but give these players and people legitimate places to post their advertisements without disrupting anyone or anything else.
It's not your game anymore than the ones you want to purge
Didn't they only really ever chase and ban largely because people had this advertised via roulette on PF (which pushes it to the top) as opposed to via the 'Other' category which they do now.
Do you go to all these so called erp cafes? I’ve been to a couple cafes and they just seemed like cafes with people sat at tables or bar counters and someone greeting me and showing me to my own table. If there was any erp going on it wasn’t obvious and was kept to tells. If anything, just standing in Limsa you’re more likely to see people you just know are going at it in tells but you’re not clamouring for Limsa to be deleted. Not every rp spot is full of people erping but I’m sure you know that and I do feel bad for replying and giving you the attention. But hey what can you do. Me ignoring your post doesn’t stop everyone else from replying to it.
The absolute gall, roleplaying of all the things. Why would anyone think this is that kind of game. XD
Jokes aside, they should just report the ppl doing it in public and block club owners who spam. Beyond that, everyone should keep their opinions out of each other gameplay... and maybe not shout.
They banned people for it because they were reported. They don't usually do anything unless there is a report.
Go back to banning ERP? Gee whiz, that would imply they ever started.
I personally have nothing against ERP or any kind of venues/advertisements (as long as the advertisement itself isn't explicit) just wish they'd use the "Other" section for PF exclusively. Being spammed with any kind of advertisement- giveaways, venues, FCs, etc. is kinda rude and annoying to spam in a chat in my opinion. Maybe even just add another category in PF for RP advertising.
They only ban the urls only if the the ad also says (18+), Adults Only, NSFW, ect with the url. They dont ban the url if it leads to any of these until the message outright says it does.
I remember in GW when Dhuum would rise out of the ground and scythe a player to death when they got banned... (i'll admit that i'm maybe a victim of nostalgia and i may not be remembering clearly)
It used to be a big deal and everyone agreed it was worth the show and humiliation to discourage the kind of behaviour they got banned for. Nowadays, for every company, it's all smoke and mirrors in an attempt to fake that they care and that they're doing something, while in reality they don't give less of a fudge as they don't want to ban paying customers.
The worship of the bottom line is the bane of my existence.

Stop trying to police other people, and police yourself.
One thread wasnt enough
How to avoid ERP:
Never go to Ul'dah (Sorry newbies who picked it as a starting city)
What's with people and Night Club? Why there's no stuff like a Lounge, or a Bar, that plays Jazz music or Classical music, why it's always a Night Club and a DJ? :(
Introverts won't fit on those place you know...
I still find it amusing how the pinnacle of RP and partially ERP in this game is a bunch of people afk emoting in a house with a twitch stream open in the background playing bad trance music from the 90s. I don't get it and it makes me want to cringe out of my own skin, but each to their own I guess. That being said, just do what I do and blacklist all of the shouters in chat.
I will say I have seen a sharp increase in the amounts of advertisements for "nightclubs" in the past 6 months or so. Not too sure what's driving it.
A pandemic that is still going, mainly. It was great for when people were quarantining to be able to see other people, in a sense, but now it's more annoying than anything. I think 75% of my blacklist now is people with 2+ ads in PF for the same "clubs". I don't usually do a /blist for shout chat people, just the PF spam.
And hey, there's nothing wrong with 90s trance music, I take offence to that! lol
