Unable to Log in Suddenly (The Lobby Server has encountered a critical error)

Just an hour ago I was booted out of the game, I tried to log back in only to be met with the afformentioned message. I've made numerous attempts since, even restarting my computer, to no avail. I can't find anyone else complaining about this so either it's on my end or I don't know what.

The game has been working with zero issues for the past several months since I don't know what's wrong.

Edit: I'm on Primal btw.

EDIT: someone smarter than me thinks this might be because of steams servers melting during their summer sale
if this is true please give us the option to switch our pc licenses so this never happens again, thank you

My son is getting it, too - he goes through Steam. (I don't.)

If he goes around Steam, it says his subscription has expired. (It hasn't.)

Also ran into this Issue, My connection is wired and I'm running the game thru Steam. The error massage pops up where you are suppose to put in your log in info so I'm unable to even try to log into the game.

Same error. Was working fine last night while I was playing it. Haven't had the issue before.
Launching through Steam on a wired connection.

Edit: still happens on a fresh restart without opening any other programs, though antivirus and other startup programs may still be running, though they never effected it previously.

I also suddenly started having this issue?? It was working fine last night.

-No disconnection, just unable to access log in screen. Just started today (never seen before)

Im getting this exact thing. I've been trying to log in for a half hour with no luck.
I play through Steam, wired connection and I don't seem to have any account issues.

Unable to login into de laucher.

A mod only just replied to the thread about an hour ago, so hopefully soon, but likely nothing yet.

Same error. Played last night no problems. Seeing the same message that has been repeatedly posted here. Steam, wireless, nothing else running except Steam.

It's the same story on reddit - Steam players have the error, and the direct ones don't. I am noticing QUITE an absence of players in game now, too.

After review the account status on the mogstation I saw that the suscription ends, even having inside the game days to play.
I pay 90 days suscription now, but unable to login

Apparently the Steam Summer Sale started and their servers are currently having a long spasm as it tries to sort through all the purchases that people are making.

likely whats happening is the steam authentication that's required for steam tethered accounts isn't being processed by their servers which boots out the error to our detriment.

Yeah apparently someone else mentioned, due to the Steam Summer Sale slowing down the store, it screws with Steam trying to work with the FF XIV Launcher. So you get that message infinitely. We can't do anything until Valve fixes it on their end cause I don't see how SE would fix it other than yelling at Valve. I wonder if this affects other MMOs tied to Steam like SWTOR and ESO with their linked accounts.

In the good old days you could take companies that behave badly to civil court, sadly these days we all sign an agreement that companies don't have to provide any service at all whatsoever. Imagine if anyone actually took the time and expense to ask a lawyer to review the terms and conditions we agree to every day without even reading them....no one would ever sign up for anything. System would collapse.

Same here. Steam servers are unresponsive because of summer sales, I guess SE didn't expect that.

Do we even know if Square Enix has acknowledged this problem? They are usually fast to post on lodestone when the problem is on their end, do they even know or are they being silent because the root cause is not their responsibility?

I was able to sneak on, watch https://steamstat.us/ it keeps flopping between offline and unavailable, when it is " unavailable "
try maniacally to login in by clicking the cog and going back when it gives the errror till you can get login prompt like normal.

SOLVED for me!

I checked my account status on the mogstation and I saw that the time period to play was expired.
After re-sub for 90 days and wait 30 minutes, I'm be able to login again, saying that i have 120 days to play.

So it seems that the free 30 days gifted are not working for Steam players, or at leas are not refected on the mogstation, and the check by steam is KO.

is better wait for steam to fix they servers than SE do something, last time i and a lot of people have a issue in the game because something on SE end, i have to wait for 1 month for SE to adress the issue and plus one month to have the issue fixed :)
