POLL RESULTS!!!! YAY
PS, nothing at e3 /rage
Kewl we can shut up about this now XDQuote:
I think it’s just about right. 52.4%

The devs, Visual Works, Sound, PR—everyone did their part and the trailer itself was completed and ready for release at E3. But during our most recent global PR planning meeting, we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle.
Agree with darth vader :(
This wording seemed odd to me and I think it is the result of a mistranslation. Wouldn't it be the public unveiling of 2.0? For a second I thought they were actually releasing 2.0. XDQuote:
Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends.
So nothing at E3 then, I'm pretty sure there was a lot more questions than that in the poll, where are the rest of the results?
I thought he meant no trailer but they are gonna show other things....?

In order to make version 2.0 a success, we need to appeal to not only our current players (naturally!), but also as many new players as possible, including PS3 owners. I really am sorry for the changes to the roadmap, but I really hope you understand that they were made with appealing to as many of you as possible in mind. We want to place the highest priority on keeping the 2.0 development schedule on track and on time, and prepare a large-scale promotional campaign filled with mind-blowing stuff!
What about the rest of the Player's Poll questions?
e: "Tune in next time for more on the third Players’ Poll results." Well, see you next month.
Well that was dissapointing.. i hope promotional site that suppose to appear shortly after e3 ends doesnt mean 2 months later..
It makes no sense for Yoshida to be attending if they are not showing anything, some clarification would be nice, can we expect anything or not?
In AugustQuote:
2.0 Marketing Campaign
(Including Trailer Release)
http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Roadmap_EN.pdf
text and pics over a trailer that would have been 80% cgi anyway. i can live with that.
my problem here ist that i already forgot which answers I chose in the poll and that again we didn't get the full results...
Edit: early june 1.22b sounds good
Square Enix really know how to disappoint /rage
I know what is coming next, a delay. They just don't want to say it now. They just aren't ready to show anything.
Just a fraction of the player's poll and the trailer is complete but they're holding onto it for another 2 months, pretty disappointing letter overall.
From the sounds of things there will be no FFXIV at all at E3, I don't think Yoshi is going there to promote anything.
Could be "behind closed doors" or he is just checking out other things,
He does have interviews though as people of community sites have been asking for questions.
If them holding off is gonna make it better for the game to succeed then you guys should stop whining i remember a thread about ppl saying how they wanted SE to do more marketing >_>.
Only SE can be this disapointing.... Bah.
This is true, where's my Viera race.
People are only whining because some people has really been looking forward to this year's E3 just for FFXIV trailer. It is definitely a let down especially when its only a week until E3. While, people maybe understand the circumstances, but it's not a misplaced vent, nobody likes broken promises.
Well, if they'll compensate with some solid 2.0 interviews and screens, i would be satisfied.
Also if seeing something moving would be more intriguing.. :p
So true lolQuote:

how is holding stuff off would help FFXIV get ps3 players? pretty much the video may be release in Japan which would give them more JP players for ps3 but how would that help them get more NA players? or could we look at this as they don't want to do marketing in NA because sadly NA players like more wow type games and they don't forget how bad ffxiv was release and would try it even if they fix it? because when i talk to NA players about ffxiv they just laugh at me. lol
i mean that could be one way of looking at it i don't see any other reason on holding off the video if it not for TGS or the EU version of E3
I'm sure they have their Reason, don't get me wrong I'm upset too, but Its coming in August. I rather have other things shown at E3 anyhow, then some silly CGI anyhow.
Their plan of Attack is a Marketing Campaign in August.. not sure what they mean like a Commercial, or Going around Each Country putting up posters and talking to people about it.. Not sure how they would do this to appease ALOTs of people.. but will see I suppose.Quote:

Sounds like E3 is going to be more for the people who haven't touched the game or tossed it aside at the very beginning and never looked back.Quote:

BUT HE ALSO SAID THIS:
So from E3's end to Marketing Campaign and Beyond, they will be added new 2.0 stuff to the New Promotional Website.Quote:
After E3, we will be releasing new information in stages. Please be advised that the promotion will also target new players who have never seen or played FFXIV so it will include content you may all be already familiar with. Don’t worry; I’m planning to include new content for the existing players too. Stay tuned!
So to me, its not a bad deal, ( as long as their marketing strat. works to draw in 10's and 100's of thousands of players then I'm all for it)
I am a bit disapointed but I think is a good move. A flood of info un mid august sounds good for me.
LOL no trailer at E3, SE you can seriously F off now, if you think you can let your fans down again and shrug E3 off like this then your game deserves to fail.
Seems after all this time you still haven't learnt anything.
Some people can't read can they -.-.
That is referring to E3, Appeal the crowd with Version 1.0 ( maybe a sneak peak at Version 2.0 for hype), Marketing Campaign= Flood of 2.0 information, TGS will most likely have 2.0 their as well, which is just as big as E3, its just in Tokyo, Japan.Quote:

Also: Remember Trailer for FFXIV 1.0? Remember how THAT went down? They don't want to make the same mistake again, which is probably why they withdrew the Trailer till August. They have more important things at hand at E3 that Yoshi-P IS attending afterall... why would he go their to just twiddle his thumbs.. :/.
I think it's just about right: 54.6%
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
To everyone, yep FFXIV will not be at E3, considering thisAlso:Quote:

A trailer is just something to go wow look at that, 99% of the time trailers do not even use in game footage, you all asked for gameplay and didn't care about a CGI trailer, it seems like thats what you are getting, poor Yoshi-P is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with you guys.Quote:

... I suppose they're putting the trailer on the site.
They're probably also going to be promoting more than one game guys...
The strangest thing about this decision is that August is too late for E3 and too early for TGS. The two biggest media events for video games and they want to release a trailer right in the middle of them, but not AT them? OK SE, I'm sure you know what you're doing but it seems an odd choice to me.
Sort of sounds like they'll have something at E3, just not the trailer, though the wording is a bit strange so who knows. I know it might be a bit much to ask but maybe we should all just wait and see before getting angry about things, E3 is only a week away after all.Quote:

Though it will be marginally disappointing if we get literally nothing at E3 (though the site is still coming shortly after so not all is terrible)
i have to say i care about the trailer becuase it something he said he going to show and e3 so close it was something to hope for so i'm little let down if he show at least 1 screenshot or a 10sec of a char walking in a new area with the new look for 2.0 that be good enough for me shit i even take the 1 screenshot with lot's of information :) just a little let down if you know what i mean.
It completely baffles me, there is all this talk about wanting new players, but who the heck is going to see it during August?!
Its a really bad time, there's nothing big going on, summer vacations just hit for a lot of countries. I just dont see it working, how are they going to catch the eyes of "so many new players" when theres no news around and people not "looking out" for things.
dont get it. I think PR hope the game fails lol.
As far as it is now, he is only there for the Interviews, nothing else (These have been booked and he cant cancel them now).
The reason they're pushing back the trailer (NOT the info/PR) is probably because it's going to be another "show v2.0 Opening Movie"-trailer and they don't want to spoil existing players.
So, you're whining because SE decided to not show the opening movie for FFXIV 2.0 like they did for 1.0 (lolCGITrailer) but show some actual info instead?
Yep. SE sure hasn't learned anything.

oh and Starlord, i got that, with next weeks letter. but after more than 2 months it would have just been nice to get the whole survey thing at once.
