Multi-level seasonal events and better collabs

Every season, and most collab events for that matter. Is a level 15 fetch quest or FATE. Why not have multiple types of seasonal event quests at different level marks like Toram Online does with their seasons. For example their Hanami event last I check has like 4 variations based on level with different stories for each and a different boss line up that you kill for mats to make weapons and gear which also differs by level. It's fun, repeatable, and worth the time.

Yet here it's almost always some lame lv 15 Fate with the only items you get from the vendor being stupid orchestra rolls, some sparklers no one uses, and the one outdoor furnishing item and earing/ring/a costume if you're lucky. It's also not something worth repeating as after a single run you basically get the good stuff and who is grinding these things?

I'll give the FF15 collab credit in that it's long we get a replay of the Garuda boss fight with Noctis, it's engaging, you get his costume and you could even buy his car (Cid must be the wealthiest man in Eorzea from that) Then the Yokai Watch event which I've only seen once where you can get a yokai minion and win tokens doing fates and buy a unique weapon. There is a minion for each class which also makes it replay able and fun. But that's about it. (I'm not counting Nier as that's not really a collab but actually something they added to the game and supposedly it only happened due to someone taking Yoshi-P out for drinks or something)

This is FF14! Why is a phone mmo outdoing it's seasonal and collabs when the phone MMO is pulling collabs with shows like Re:zero or SAO or other big series? (INB4 Go play that then, well, I would but that's the only thing Toram has going for it sadly).

I don't think I'd want a collab event with every anime under the sun.
This isn't Fortnite.

the reason seasonal events are level 15 is so new players who dont have level 90 yet (or free trial users) can still do the events and unlock the rewards without being forced to wait a year for the items they missed cause they werent high enough level to do the quest goes up for sale on the mogstation

They are level 15 so that everyone can participate. A lot of people never reach level 50 or get there very slowly, so being level 15 allows the newest players to join in and not feel excluded.

Yes, which if you read my post I stated multiple variations of. Have a lv 15 event and other levels of the same event, 15, 65, 75, 85. with maybe a story and boss variation. For example, to use the Hanami seasonal in Toram there is a noob friendly low level event hosted simultaneously with the other 3 higher level events that follow the same storyline as the first just with new bosses and gear.

As I just replied to Ryuouma. Please fully read post. Most MMO have a seasonal event thats broken up into different levels for different leveled players often with different gear and story but are all hosted at the same time as a seasonal even.t

Then don't play the collabs. But many MMO's like Phantasy Star do collabs with anime, this is a Japanese anime-ish game you're playing if you've ever glanced at the seasonal artwork and the cat ears on your head.

I personally like how the events in FFXIV are done so casual players can enjoy them. Its at a low level, and they do not miss out on any of the story content for being new to the game. I feel adding 'tiers' to the combat would go against the philosophy behind how FFXVI works in a way. They want people to play these outside events together, a fun side quest rather then a challange.

That said, I would like to see events that have more... farmable content? Like I feel once we do the story quest then thats it, there is no real reason to go back to it unless you want to farm the confetti. Give reasons to farm the FATE more then once, more items to collect like past event gear, rather thne putting it on the store.

I would not mind some more anime-like collabs to be honest. I always like how FFXVI fits the collabs into their lore. That could be why we do not get as many. Could be more of a legal issue to make stories around such collabs rather then other games which could just have cosmetics or gatcha elements.

I'm really glad that we don't have to farm them usually. I put seasonal events off to the last minute and want to get them done quickly, because I have too many other things to focus on. Being pressured to finish a grind within a short timeframe isn't fun.

However putting them off to the last minute and doing to get out of the way defeats the purpose. It should be something you do throughout the season multiple times.

Events are fun distractions. I didn't enjoy the Yokai crossover BECAUSE it was a crazy grind that took forever (and at the time was potentially never coming back). I think they're doing fine with those events that have interesting activities you CAN repeat but don't have to if you don't want to and still get the "big" reward. Such as the halloween mansions and valentines maze, it was there if you wanted to keep doing it, but you didn't have to.

They should have a seasonal event monthly or every other week to fill in for waiting on more main story content to come out.

What we need is for them to drop the stupid ass fates once and for all and actually commit to making each event's gameplay unique. And we KNOW they're capable of this, between the Halloween maze we just had earlier this year, the partner maze for Valentines, the jumping puzzle among other things for Moonfire (BRING IT BACK FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!), Easter fates are admittedly alright but I really hate the New Year ones, Christmas used to have a rhythm game and I believe LLD did too at one point. The Rising used to have some really interesting stuff like the mini dungeon in 2017 but recently it's just been groan-worthy. Just for the love of god stop cheaping out on seasonal events, even if it's just rehashing stuff that's been done before it's vastly more preferable to another. god. damn. fate.

I do wish that we got much interesting and longer seasonal events. Honestly for these events I would not even need a storyline at all. Just have a bit fun that would fit with the theme of the event.
The summer one could be different activities at the beach. The halloween one is already better with the haunted mansion but I want them to go further with this.

Just let these events be fun mini games that are not done after 10 minutes. Put the work into the mini games themselves and not into a once done story. Also put every past reward into the game again at that event (like they did at the start of FF14..). People with alts have some nice way to grind these items while newer players wont miss out on them and having to pay real money for it.

I would rather bad anime like SAO stay the heck out of this game. Other franchises that SE owns is cool, but I’d prefer not to have a whole lot of collabs in the game in general.

With that said, I do agree very much that these events need changing. It’s been sooo boring doing fates or “go here, then there, watch cutscene, done.” I miss the jumping puzzle from Moonfire SO much. I would LOVE to play it again. I don’t get why they won’t bring it back or even an updated version of it. Any event that features a mini dungeon is also great. That last All Saints’ Wake was such a breath of fresh air!

I’ve been wondering for a while why the events have gotten so lazy. I figured it must be the effects of Covid and/or the team focusing on more important content. But with the release of EW, I figured it wouldn’t be too long before they finally got back in the swing of things and make the events fun again. Apparently not.

And the actual prizes you earn could use improvement too. I would enjoy receiving more full body glams and mounts more often. The glam being DYABLE would be great too. (Seriously, that un-dyeable crown from the recent Little Ladies Day pissed me off so much.) Minions, furnishings, and sparklers are nice and all, but I just want a cute cheery blossom themed puffy dress with a big bow on the back from LLD someday, pls. Would make doing a boring fate or two more worth it.

That just means they'd have to put more work into the seasonal events instead of the main story content. Not a worthwhile trade.

I also wish events were more engaging, but I've accepted that it's just the nature of this game. They usually have some story tied to it for people who are into that, followed by some boring FATE that's low leveled for valid reasons everyone's already acknowledged.

My favorite events so far have been the moogle tomestone events, where they pick a wide array of content and say "you can run this for tokens that you can turn in for gear," but the fun factor is impacted by the content the devs decide is eligible for it. Lately they've been picking the most boring raids/dungeons for it. I have no idea why. Like, I don't remember if it was this time or the time before, but it was literally crystal tower raids that they were asking people to farm for the event and it's like... really? We already have to deal with it every day in roulettes. It's bad enough there. Ugh. It feels like it's been years since we had a mogtome event where we could farm ivalice, and I don't remember one that had us farming nier. And that's just alliance raids. The dungeons they'll pick are always like, aurum vale or these other synced down dungeons that everybody hates seeing in roulettes and so then you get the BLU farm parties to just burn it down as quickly as possible. My question, for these events at least: why not both? Why not make aurum vale eligible AND some level 90 content? Why not crystal tower AND a high level alliance raid? And then the prizes vary and sometimes it's stuff most people already have if they genuinely wanted it, while other times it's actually legit rare eureka emotes and stuff. Either way, despite the faults, I wish we'd get these events more often. If people don't like them, they can just not do them. But for everyone else who's still subbed, it's nice to have something neat to toy around with.

Also regarding "why are mobile games having better events," I think f2p games in general are just heavily incentivized to put out addicting events that keep people playing for monetary reasons. Longer you're playing, more likely you are to spend money. XIV obviously wants to make money like any game, but it might not have as much pressure as a f2p mobile game since the sub fees mean this game makes money every month regardless. On the one hand, I'm glad XIV isn't deploying those kinds of predatory tactics. But on the other hand, I like playing XIV, so having a reason to log in during downtime would be nice.

Vagrant Story Crossover WHEN!?

You got the music, location, and enemy types already in game. Make it the new Deep Dungeon using Iron Maiden. The glams alone would be worth it to people who are like "WTF is a Vagrant Story?".

Why they don't use seasonal events to cross-promote more of their products is beyond me. The pixel remasters came out semi recently. WoL is in FFXIV and the costume of Firion from FFII... and that's it unless i forget something. The FFXI event doesn't tell you anything about FFXI besides that it is another game basically. Seeing how they don't really add new ones and just reuse old events i don't understand why they don't use them more for advertisement.

I don't mind the low level of the seasonal events, but they never feel like events, or they haven't felt like them in a long while.

The events are -supposedly- taking place during a howevermany weeks long festival, but our only interaction with this festival is to show up, "ooh-ahh" at the seasonal assets splashed about a location, talk to like 4 guys, -MAYBE- do 1 fate or mini-instance if we're lucky, then get our obligatory item and then ignore that area until next year. Unironically the whole of Ishtar restoration felt like a more convincing event (and still does with its fetes, simple as they are) than any of the seasonal events.


Just like off the top of my head:
Imagine a moonfire faire where there was an in-game primals concert every hour or so that gave an exp buff if you sat through a small set (maybe with stacking effects if you dance/cheer along), a fishing competition every 40 minutes that gave out free event-specific bait for the event, and rewarded scaling event currencies for placing (1st 2nd 3rd and participation gold-bronze tiers), the ol' jumping tower with an item you have to retrieve from the top and bring down in exchange for event tokens, and of course a merch stand where you could trade those currencies for various souvenirs?

That's how toram does it in that past rewards are always available, since each new seasonal is a new difficulty with a new story and gimmick than the last with new gear and mats.

Again, the effort spent creating this hypothetical "reasonable difficulty for a temporary event" would be taking away time and effort that could instead be put into permanent content.

If the battle designer has some spare work time amid the usual cycle and can put it into a seasonal thing, great. But it shouldn't be something they need to do for every event and then throw away after.

I take any collab that doesn't span a whole 24-man raid like Nier. Waste of lore space for the sake of turning FF14 into a Nier's spin-off.


By the way, where is my Mana series collab? I want a Rabite pet bouncing around as my Lala springs her step. Prefer the Black variant that shoots mouth beam.
