Yoshi-P can be woken up at 3AM over some housing but we can't get hotfixes?

FF14 team has the means of communication to create hot fixes. They chose not to and then they simply brush it off in a Live Letter by saying 'well it's just not popular enough'.

That excuse is just not good enough. You've implemented a brilliant new mode but you're not supporting it as you should.

It ended up being way more popular than you envisioned but now you're letting it die by not hot fixing blatant bug abuse, not even job balance.

If you don't support your players then of course a project will lead to a failure and the hype will die.

- The end game experience is WHM in every group who still play like bronze.
- Literally pointless rewards
- Literally zero communication from the PvP team
- A large wave of wall exploiters in frontlines, mostly MCH who use turret to keep people from capping as they cap from within walls.

You're a multi-dollar company, so start acting like one.

I'm going to assume PvP is doomed to remain an afterthought if at minimum they don't address the known bugs like the BRD perma slow, WHM's infinite cure IIs and ability to remove ground AoEs with Miracle of Nature, and the erroneous English tooltips in the coming 6.11 patch.

I love the new mode and the new PvP they are trying to bring to life. I am doing my duty by giving some feedback after gaining experience. There's just so many hotfixes that need to be done that shouldn't sully the experience. I understand server tick is an issue for them, but then again that can easily be solved by letting cc removal and guard be used during CC or something. There's many ways. It's just there's no way they can be excused for literal neglect.

I will try and then move on.

I wouldn't expect any major balance changes until the end of the season sadly.

Balance discrepancies are expected in newly released content. The game mode is doing just fine currently and it'll get balanced in due time.

The housing issue was not expected and is an objective failure by whoever coded it. Because of the bug, some players aren't able to enjoy the content that they might have been able to if it was coded properly.

It's not hard if you think about it for a bit.

When I started to PvP around Stormblood there was only 1 season in the 14 seasons I played where WHM wasn't the top healer :p Also out of those 14 seasons Scholar was viable in maybe 2 seasons and in one of those 2 they got hotfixed within a week cause they were too strong. Balance wasn't good with years of changes so how will they fair with it now with more complex jobs?

I think he's more getting at the fact that PvP evidently isn't important enough to warrant a hotfix maintenance when some jobs like WHM and BRD are literally broken due to multiple silly oversights/bugs not simple balance issues.

I would just like a response from the dev team.
" we noticed there are some bugs and unbalances in pvp and we are working to fix them." Would be comforting to hear.

Anything is better than silence. Even if no exact eta. Can let us know it will probably be weeks or be honest and say probably not for some weeks.

Look I am fine with pvp being an afterthought. But it was better before all these changes. They are actively making it worse and it can only be to drive people away in the hopes they can use the fewer people playing it as proof not to put anymore more resources into it.

Some kind of evil 4D chess going on.

Or they are just bad at their jobs when it comes to designing pvp.

They invested man hours into this mode and rehaul. I am not okay with pvp being an afterthought and that kind of thinking needs to die with the old pvp.

Square has shown to competent but that now requires feedback, hot fixing, cheat abuse purging and communication

There are certainly changes I'd like to see in the future, but there's no emergency here. This is just hyperbolic nonsense.

The housing lottery issue is an obvious bug that they basically know how to fix, because the desired end state and the way to get there are largely known (except for a mechanism for players who were supposed to have won but got their gil back instead to re-deposit and claim.) It seems to have required a hotfix because of the timers involved.

PvP is a bit more subtle:

1. There appear to be some exploits and cheats; while the desired end state (no cheaters!) is clear in some sense, the fix may not be obvious or easy:
a) They might need more time to examine the issues and develop a solution that will actually stick
b) They may be wary of overpromising and underdelivering in terms of announcing that they are working on a solution
c) Other games have imposed intrusive and sluggish anti-cheat software and SE may be trying to avoid doing so

2. There are almost certainly balance issues but I could imagine that:
a) They might want to keep the same balance until the end of the season for consistency between all matches in the season
b) They might want to collect more data and see whether the meta evolves as the season progresses
c) The developers might know about certain strategies or counters that players haven't figured out yet, and they might not want to tip their hand just yet in order to give players the chance to discover them on their own

Considering previous PvP iterations the actual player use of jobs definitely evolved over time; for example at first nobody knew how to play AST so they thought it was weak, but once they figured it out it became almost unstoppable.

I don't think you read the topic fully to grasp that there are not just "pet" issues and some jobs like WHM and BRD have game-breaking glitches on them right now.

Just because you can potentially avoid triggering them in certain circumstances doesn't mean they should be low priority; especially not when people's rankings are being influenced.

They had an emergency maintenance to fix a PvE glitch with BRD that was breaking its songs under specific conditions, so the lack of such for PvP means they either don't know or don't care enough to make it a priority, and it's hopefully just the former.

There are other possibilities that don't necessarily involve ignorance or neglect. For example, perhaps they don't consider it to be a game-breaking flaw that needs to be patched immediately. Perhaps they've decided it's something that, although it may be very annoying for some players, can be tolerated for this season. Or perhaps there simply isn't a quick or easy way to fix it at the moment.

You're just trying to move the goal posts. Those glitches aren't game breaking, and they weren't even mentioned in the OP, which is what I was responding to.
Should they be fixed? Yes. Is it a wake up the devs at 3AM emergency? No.

Maybe you should try reading the topic.

He mentioned "blatant bug abuse".

I would personally consider things like WHM's infinite cure IIs fundamentally undermining the purpose of the healer PvP revamp and Miracle of Nature potentially making it impossible to use SGE's LB game-breaking, but each to their own, I suppose.

It is game breaking, how about you read the topic. Bard is literally unplayable in pvp atm. The Whm is more just unfair bug, but bard is literally rendered immobile after they use their main dps skill. I literally can’t play bard in pvp unless i just want to stand still and die.

This is what i’m curious about and also what upsets me. It’s very obvious they didn’t test or play bard at all in pvp, because i can literally replicate the bug in 30 seconds. But also both bard and mch have the same cast skill, so why does it affect one and not the other?

Regarding the BRD game breaking glitch, I have been played maybe 40-50 games with the class and I haven't encountered the glitch at all.

Game balance has never been able to be implemented in a hotfix and I haven't heard of an MMORPG that does it.

Of course there are multiple problems with the new PVP, its only been 2 weeks. But is it utterly playable? No. Unlike housing which actually stop people from enjoying the game.

Scholar was nerfed few weeks into a Feast season somewhere around season 17-19 because it was so strong :p

What game breaking bug is going on with bard? I've been playing it in CC a lot and haven't come across a noticeable bug yet.

Regardless of MMO genre or not, SE is one of the few devs that tries to push fixes on the patch cycle at almost any cost. Sure it keeps the dev cycle balanced but what is the point of releasing a mode an not paying attention to it? Since you are probably only an FFXIV player you might not get this reference but Overwatch had over a year of 3tank/3healer meta because they refused to take balance seriously, let alone change out of cycle. Look at who plays/cares about Overwatch? Overwatch 2, an excuse to get people to pay more money for the same game, has zero hype around it.

I climbed to plat with brd before I gave up and moved to war to get to diamond. I don't recall getting any glitches with brd.

You are stuck on walking after you use Powerful Shot, sometimes you can unstuck by recasting the same skill but sometimes not.
On Frontline you can use mount to remove the bug but it is just a chore and makes playing the job unfun.

It makes vital gameplay a nightmare to work around and has got me killed or ruin fights enough times.
It upsets me since I find Bard way more enjoyable than Machinist, I prefer support LBs and the other skills have better flow.

At the very least after a week they could post a "known issues" so we at least know that they acknowledge the bugs/exploits and if they're missing any, we can inform them. At this point we don't even know whether they're looking at PVP or not.

I enjoy both...mostly, but bioblasters awkward 12yalm range annoys me so I stick to brd. No idea what triggers that bug, but fortunately I've not run into it.

This is why new PvP skills should have been added 6.0. While frontline is a unbalanced mess. Some player data is better then no player data.
