- Absurdly high potencies at no cooldown

- 3 charges of Dash with 4k Potency (same as a ninja's empowered mudra)

- Reduces damage taken by 50% and delivers an attack with a potency of 2,000 every time you suffer damage.

- Kuzushi Effect: Increases damage you deal target by 25%

- Deals damage to target equal to 10% of their current HP.
Ignores the effects of Guard when dealing damage.
Deals damage with a potency of 4,000

- A Stun Duration: 3s

- Immune to crowd control Duration: 3s

- A Bind Duration: 2s

- Absorbs 100% of damage dealt as HP

- 2x 8,000 potency Shields Duration: 10s

- 1 Shot LB that's easy to pull off at any given rank due to the chaos of the mode.


I hope I have made it easy for Final Fantasy 14 team to summarise it.

You want to talk about keeping a positive community and still letting people express themselves to a degree BUT then you release an oppressive and toxic job like this.

This blatant favouritism needs to be curbed. This is absurd.

It's not fun to play against them, whether you're winning or losing. I am not saying this because I am stuck. I am climbing at a healthy pace.

I am pointing out that what you've created is taking the micky and its not respecting other jobs equally.

SAM and WHM receive too much attention. That needs to change, and toxic jobs like this need to be thought over.

Incorrect it's not absurdly high they hit for 8k-16k max / 24k if you ignore a fast GCD and ST only (ignoring Buffs/Debuffs)

Both can be true though? Visual and audio clarity is a major factor in any notably successful competitive multiplayer game. SAM and DRG are both 2 of the most egregious offenders, it does not need to be an either/or situation nor is it a competition of which is more poorly designed. They both very, very clearly need adjustments.

Not sure why you bring this up in this specific topic, though.

Right now there's just too much direct stun locking happening in CC all over. No one likes to sit there being unable to do anything and just not play the game, which is what this has been amounting to a LOT lately. I got no idea why they decided to go this route instead of just putting things in the arena that people interact with.

Its not hard to see though. People run from my drg LB circle all the time and the minute I see a drg disappear from my screen I just look down. Players need to just use their brain. If the did just disappears and there's no kill listed in the kill feed then its obvious he just did his LB. Its literally the only LB in the game you can actively react to.

some of the meeles + whm + war need some nerf bat. all of them are annoying and obnoxious xD

I mean, it seems like things have been figured out now and if you got a reaper on the team it's way more likely you'll end up losing? Just because they don't have a good stun and the fear makes people run around the place instead of being in place. But I don't think the way the games play is really great for anyone.

I'll do you one better, look at NIN's kit

High potency buff with Bunshin

High Mitigation as they have:

Huton 16k Barrier with Movement Speed increase, 10 seconds

Meisui with 10k heal and 4k regen, 15 seconds

High Utility with a 4 sec stun with Fleeting + Forked Raiju (Both are dashes)

High Damage with Hyosho Ranryu, 16k potency

Spicy AOE 4k potency DOT with Goka Mekkyaku

Area control with Doton

Then lets cry about an ult that insta kills you at 50% health.


I hope that I have made it easy for you to understand that SAMs is not the only one with a wonderful kit and by no means I feel that these two classes need to be nerfed. The only class that are disrespected are GNBs.

The only changes needed to Samurai are:

1. Distinct audio cue for Chiten.
2. Kuzushi only applies when the Samurai is the target of a direct attack.

That's it.

Outside of the potential to one-shot half the team in close combat over a contested objective because the screen is too cluttered to see the Chiten animation, Samurai is fine.

Does it matter which I want to pick? Either the class with high survivability or the class with crazy high offensive capability, in the end always comes down to how people use the tool and deal with others. SAMs have 0 oppressiveness once they don't have Ogi and Midare.

Should a class be valued by how well they can duel 1 v 1? Because I can tell you if that is the case then MNKs should be at the top.

Samurai is fine. I'd argue they're outclassed by dragoon. Dragoon is safer with just as much damage potential. But it comes down to how you play the job and how you interact with the other 9 players. I only want the other mdps to be buffed to their level.

Its a team game from the very start and it has been balanced around that. You don't deal with one CC, you deal with multiple always because thats what a smart team does.

Slander me all you want, its clear to me now you only draw conclusions from whats on surface and never bother empathize or even think. Just a monkey who wants to ape on about a class having more letters than another.

To help you answer your 5 second detective work with some fun facts, I have my main class set as SAM back in Stormblood. I climbed my way from Gold to Crystal using BRD. Now I play mainly MNK since I enjoy the class and revere SAM's kit as I want more defensives on this underrated class.

Preach about wanting the best for PVP but barely want any discussion. Wants balance do it in a way that will drag down a group of people who enjoys the class or identity of a class. If you want the health and state of PVP to be better then instead of dragging classes down, start thinking about bringing the other classes up.

Another job where you blinded folded yourself and only used one hand because current game is so balanced right?

Yeah, NIN is arguably the second best duelist / 1v1 job in the game right now, right behind RDM. The SAM LB is definitely fundamentally broken in its design but the rest of the kit has its strengths and weaknesses.

I agree with this, mostly because I'd rather see the other dozen or so under performing jobs brought up to SAMs current level than see the job nerfed.

I think between the melee right now I'd rank SAM, DRG, and NIN as the best ones. In fact I'd probably say they are among the top jobs in CC at the moment since the game is largely about how quickly can you take a member out of commission on the enemy team. Albeit, SAM is probably only broken because of how weak AOE skills are. They basically just give the SAM free triggers.

DRG is deffo in the best in that department, very heavy damage within seconds that doesn't require them to be up in the enemy's face and its AOE.

Riiight.... The tiny blue circle swimming amidst the sea of 20 similar sparkly VFXs. Hey, you know what else is a light blue circle? My own AOE marker. Everyone's shield. The circle around the crystal. My ally Dragoon's LB as well as the enemy Dragoon's LB. Every friendly AOE LB throughout PVE, both party members and allied NPCs. And a fair amount of normal spells/abilities for extra measure. But yeah, just stare at the DRG the entire match, even during the blackness of respawning haha.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with League of Legends, but there is a similar Ultimate ability there used by a champion called Pantheon. Now, it's not a colossal nuke, nor can he change directions of the ult once he's on the air, but the principle is the same. The key differences are that 1) there is a loud, distinct, global sound effect heard by all players once he launches the ult, 2) there is a unique AOE indicator that shows not only the "center" of the ult but the entire area that the damaging portion of the ability encompasses and 3) the shape of the AOE itself isn't some generic circle; it's unmistakable.

That is the level of proper sound and visual clarity I would love to see in this game, not just for DRG and SAM, but for all jobs as well. There is simply too much noise in the game that drowns out much of what should be impactful indicators. I want to fight the enemy players, not the subpar graphical decisions.
