Pretty transparent I'd say. Also thankful they mentioned that plots which didn't have any errors are good to go. Can finally look to the next lottery.
would you look at that. every single armchair coder was wrong
Yay.
What does this mean? Like, I can take it in two ways as in either they're going to give the right winners the plot or we won't have to go back to the placard and register for the lottery again when they decide to unpause the system.Quote:
Once this issue has been resolved, and lottery results can be relayed to the housing data servers without issue, it will be possible to confirm the lottery winners. Furthermore, players who registered for the lottery at the affected plots will not be required to register a second time. We ask for your patience as we work to recover data containing the results for these plots.
Thanks for the quick heads-up on the Lodestone post! You are on top of it today!! :) I also really appreciate the clarity in the post (as much as it could be), and the timelines that were expressed. Very helpful for planning purposes!
with the prior line for context:
it sounds like the lotto server determined the winners but relayed an error instead of the winner to the housing server. The fix will make the two servers 1:1 displaying the winners.Quote:
After investigating this issue, we discovered that, while the server responsible for conducting the lottery is functioning as intended, the results are not being properly relayed to the servers responsible for managing housing-related data.

"The means by which gil may be collected from those who have already received a gil refund prior to learning that they have won the lottery is under consideration. Details of this process will be announced at a later date."
So getting a full refund and also a house is possible?
Admittedly, I know I said this was an "Off by One" error and i am glad that I was incorrect. In this case, the results maintained on the server that ran the actual lotto actually were maintained and the issue was a communication error between servers, which is something that is considerably harder to test for and also is not compromising the results of the original run of the lotto.
Only thing i'm a little confused on. Do they want EVERYONE to secure their gil that was 0'd. Or those with 0 to just leave things as is until the server info is 1:1 and displays the correct winner.
I would not accept any refunds just sit tight. There is no rush given refunds can be made up to July 19th. Appears those who actually took refunds with a 0 error may still be considered for the reroll or the servers who determined the winner actually displaying who won correctly.
Its always interesting NOT to see the usual "concerned" avatars in these threads when they are trying to fix a problem or acknowledge that they are indeed paying attention...
Solid response, glad to see it
My FC is finally getting their own large! Excited!
Because, majority of the forum people in these threads are doom and gloom spreaders hellbent on very much causing strife, on purpose. They are not a representation of the wider playerbase that is in-game, actually enjoying the various pieces of content that exists. You have Karens irl, you have the same on the forums.
But if a newcomer came to look at the forums, it would look like this is the worst game to be a part of, when in fact it's one of the best MMOs on the market supported by a fabulous dev team. That's not apologist, that's just pure fact.
I wish the Community Managers would be more proactive at funneling the threads into super threads though since people seem unable to post their opinions in a single thread.
will someone break it down/ tl;dr for me? please!
It's expected. Remember, only people who like the game are toxic.
And I say this as someone who has wanted an ishgard house for close to 8 years now. And lost the lottery (and I expect every plot on jenova to be gone with the bug fix, almost every plot had bidders)
Yet I'm not here moaning and groaning. I accepted the results like an adult and moved on.
Thats right these forums tend to be filled with a bunch of Karens that its just ugh.
A shame too because its masked behind reasonable criticisms here and there
I wouldn't quite settle on either of these. More that they're committed to making sure their solution is fair, and it could be either of these or something similar, but they have yet to decide what that solution is going to look like.
I'm more irritated that they're halting lottery until they fix it.
I WANT A HOUSE DAMN IT.
The translated page literally tells you that their ARE winners on the 0'd plots. And that they need to merge that info with the other housing lotto system so that the proper info is displayed so that the winners can be notified. It's all on the JP page. They will not be starting the new lotto until the previously 0'd out people are taken care of.
Considering I didn't lose to the 0 bug, it didn't affect me at all and I wouldn't mind a second go around with it.
I'm just more disappointed that my chances of getting a house go exponentially down with every lottery because there's so few houses opening up and there'll be 200 entries for the single house that opens up eventually.
I see it around a week until it's restarted. They said it would take them 2-3 days barring any issues that come up compiling all the data together and making a fix to push out in a maintenance patch. To which after that it's just a matter of the 0'd out winner actually claiming the plot.
Oh it's going to suck now with the few houses that open up cause so many will bid on them. Ultimately the solution lies with more supply. The ward additions are not going to satisfy the people who want houses they need to look at other avenues to address the demand.
Transparent, sure. I appreciate that. But it shouldn't have happened in the first place. And housing shouldn't be in the state it's currently in and has been for years. They can say "sorry about that" or "my bad" all they want, but it doesn't fix anything. Actions speak louder than words.
I'm expecting, that Island Sanctuary is their solution to this as it literally serves no other purpose I can reasonably think of when such a glaring housing issue exists.
Probably going to look like:
Island Sanctuary -> Instanced Housing only player can visit. (Free) (Clue for this being the aspect of player minions being available to interact with.)
Wards-> Housing / FC Housing anyone can visit (Not Free) (limited)
Because bugs happen. The game isn't perfect. The devs aren't perfect. And yeah they need to address the supply. Perhaps now they have real numbers seeing how many people bid and actually want housing and will do something about it. Adding a housing district every 2 years and some additional wards isn't going to fix the problem.
