Just curious how much housing is a draw for people.
Just curious how much housing is a draw for people.
Perhaps I'm in a minority but even if someone paid me I would not want to play World of Warcraft at this point.
Doesn't WoW already have housing? Personally, WoW is still ass backwards and has race/alignment-specific classes which is enough for me to not want to play, besides that it is massively graphically outdated.
It'd take a lot more than that for me, personally. I loved the game growing up, but I haven't played in at least 4-5 years, and the stuff going on at the company basically ensured I wouldn't give them any more of my money until some big changes happened at the company and the employees had a safe working environment.
Nothing could ever make me play WoW again. It was a trash heap when I left and it only got worse. Besides I'd feel gross giving Blizzard money, Activision acquisition or no. But I'm also not a recent convert to this game so I'm probably not who you're intending to poll. Still, it's a forum so... *hits post*
I don't generally like the say "never" but my chances of going back to wow are between 0 and none, went back once when a friend raved about how legion was so great and "like wrath", I forgot to take in to account his blind fanboy fanaticism. Best thing? The bastid didn't even play long after I rejoined, 2-3 months(he didn't even bother to get max lvl), ah well at least it wasn't hundreds of bucks wasted lol.
The house will probably tie into some sort of power system making it more necessary than even FFXIV to have one. They'll limit it in every way possible until the last patch, when they unveil that they could've kept it unlimited all along anyway. :p
Keep that hopium up though.
I will look into the next expansion even without housing. And yes ... fool me 8 times, shame on me. :(
Cheers
Nope. ESO housing is far better than FFXIV's currently or anything Activision could dream up. And if I get a hankering for indepth decorating, there's always EQ2 or the SWGemu.
I can't go back to wow, as I m still playing it (TBC classic) #5head
I just can't agree more. I won't support things that support sexual harassment, and toxic environments. If the game doesn't have their own employees back in such a situation, then how can I trust them to deal with my problems. I've been harassed in games before, and stalked. There's plenty of stigma about such situations, but it should be taken seriously. One of those incidents led to said player following me in real life. I'm glad it was XIV, and not WoW, because I don't think WoW would have cared. I quit as soon as the allegations happened.
I quit back in Mists of Pandaria and haven't looked back. The only thing I really miss from it are the large epic raid dungeons.
FF14 allows me to go at my own pace and I'm not going to jump ship because of a few bugs or because other people don't how their class plays. WoW's had far worse bugs over the years and also suffers from class balance.
I don't think Blizzard would be able to pull any decent housing even being optimistic about the game designers. The workload needed to make it work after multiple expansions and the amount of time they would need adding more elements to the housing system has little chance to pay off. Either the games comes with housing early on integrated within the base game or it doesn't.
So, even if they added housing, I don't think it would factor in my decision of coming back to WoW, though I technically never "abandoned" it to begin with as I usually tend to go back and forth. I got things I like/dislike from each game.
Even if you bought me all of the expansions I'm behind on, paid my sub, and bought me a new PC to play it on, I still wouldn't be interested in going back to WoW, housing or no.
Half curious if my characters even still exist, come to think of it. How long does Blizzard retain them once you stop paying? I'd check but I don't even remember what server I was on.
No, I don’t think I ever could go back. The same reason why I stopped playing Dead By Daylight; When you play a game and find yourself getting more angry than you are having fun, it really makes you wonder if it’s worth the subscription. In the end, you realise you only played it out of habit.
They couldn't pay me enough to play that game regardless of what they add.
If you like WoW, good for you, seriously, enjoy it and have a good time. It's not a game I have any interest in every playing.
I had originally left WoW for 3 reasons:
1) Gameplay
2) Game direction(story/etc)
3) Scummy leadership
I have yet to see any evidence of improvement on any of these issues, so at this point the answer is no.
Nope. But that's because I left WoW when I was done with it; I didn't leave over some FOTM controversy or silly DPS rankings or lore problems or any of the other things you hear commonly complained about in relation to WoW.
I simply got bored of the WoW world, the whole thing. I got tired of it. I will not go back. I wouldn't even go back if all future expansions were free and game time was free. I've spent over three solid years of my life playing WoW (1000-ish days /played or /playtime if one prefers) and I had a blast for 98% of the time. Things change; people change. My desires and needs at 46 just simply aren't the same as my desires and needs at 26.
Features X and Y and Z won't bring me back to it. It will still be WoW (with features X, Y and Z).
Such is life. I got tired of some Pink Floyd albums (at the point where I know every lyric, note, pause, breath, sound effect, etc., 1000 times over), I got tired of some Scorsese films, (when you know every line, character movement, camera movement, focus slip, how long characters hold their breath, etc., also 1000 times over)... and I got tired of WoW.
/shrug
Adding housing to WoW still doesn't resolve the garbage they have been putting out since WoD. There are too many problems. Poor story lines, excessive gating, a development group that is extremely out of touch with the majority of the player base and so on. No housing is not enough to get me to return to WoW and unless Microsoft drives major cultural changes I doubt anything else Blizzard tries to add would be enough either.
I'm already an on and off WoW player, so I'm not sure this would really apply to me. But yeah, I'd probably check it out if I'm around for it.
Would never touch WoW even if it added better housing than ff ^^
Ok, I guess I'll be the lightning rod lol. Absolutely I'd go back to WoW if they added housing. You see, despite all of WoW's problems (and there are many, oh so many) it's never prevented me from engaging in content due to RNG or a poorly designed system that everyone else didn't have to deal with. Oh sure they time gate things galore, but everyone else is stuck behind that same gate, and the WoW token is garbage that allows indirect pay to win to happen, sure they employed scumbags that harassed employees and then protected those same scumbags (some of which might still be there with their heads down trying to ride out the storm), sure Ion is completely out of touch with the player base more so that YoshiP is, sure...what am I even thinking. I've had a change of heart writing this, I doubt I'll ever go back to WoW, housing or no. That being said, just because I won't ever go back to WoW doesn't mean I'm going to stick with FF14 either. Sub was cancelled yesterday and likely won't be reactivated. I'll just play other games until a worthy MMO emerges.
No. Wow's gameplay and story is just so disorganized and nonsensical that I can't make myself play the game. Even though I have my own personal gripes with FFXIV's story, FFXIV's gameplay is still a better experience and overall more fun. That fact that I bother to come to the FFXIV official forums to discuss the game's current state of affairs shows that I still care about the outcome of FFXIV. Not so much for wow. I've given up on wow a long time ago.
bwahahahaaaaaaaaaa...really??
so housing was a break point in light of all the other revelations?...
...like drunk development/design for YEARS, sexual harassment to the point of being litigatible(sp) and criminal, CEO's and lead devs being useless, etc., etc., etc. I seriously doubt that a huddle of houses can fix all and more that remains wrong over at blizz. maybe after the microsoft deal goes through, and bobby kotick is kicked to the curb, I'll think about it; BUT that is several years down the line.
after playing through all the story lines here, I'm not too inclined to rush back over to the abusers.
BTW, I'm not laughing at you for asking; I'm laughing at blizz for being so arrogant and dumb...:)
Housing in FFXIV is bad enough to make people go back to WoW?
I really do wonder what people value in a game, or what makes them pay a subscription.
Nope, wouldn't go back to WoW. I didn't leave the game because it lacked housing. I left the game because I no longer enjoyed their systems design.
Keep in mind that Garrison were promoted as Blizzard's answer to player housing when they were announced at Blizzcon 2013. Do you really want something that has virtually no character customization for housing?
Return to that Pay-To-Win game ?? I will try and be nice when I say this; But Hell to the NO. I am NOT giving those breast milk thieves any of my money.
nothing could make me go back.
even if they offered to do their own QA instead of having the players do it on "test center" and then ignore their feedback
even if they paid me to play their game
some jobs, you never want to go back to. and WoW was a job.
I submitted my resignation and moved on. nothing they came up with now could make me want to relive it.
No because I don't play bad games let alone spend money to play bad games.
Sheer morbid curiosity is the only thing motivating my anticipation of the new expansion reveal.
I miss some of the aesthetics of WoW sometimes, and some of the specs that don't have an equivalent FF job. Even some of the playable races, since they're so varied compared to XIV. Blizzard would have given us playable moogles and loporrits and probably cactuars or something by now, plus all the humans and near-humans we already have. The thing is, for the few things WoW has that XIV doesn't have, there's a laundry list of caveats six miles long that ruin it for me. Their armor sets look worse the further your character model's proportions are from the default male human. Animations are lackluster and spells still look weak even after several major revisions. The story is complete garbage, I can't get emotionally invested in any of it. Even when Stormblood felt like a huge drop in story quality for XIV, it still had vividly memorable moments and I cared about at least some of the major characters.
WoW's class/spec design is also terrible, after getting used to the flow of XIV. Almost every spec has some variation of the rogue's combo points system from when the game launched, and it was once unique to the rogue. The pacing is all wrong, it's all about mashing the same few buttons over and over on a blazing-fast GCD. There's no weight to any of it. Some of the spells look visually impressive, but none of the biggest ones really hit all that hard, at least in PvE. I've been saying for years that my favorite spec (Retribution paladin) should play more like SAM does.
That being said, after 6.1 I'm starting to get a little concerned that XIV is going to dumb down its combat to WoW's current levels. If SAM and DRG start following WoW's design trends, I'll have to find something else to play. I don't have a house here, I don't think I'll ever finish the omnicrafter grind, and I'm not that interested in running endgame content on-level. My emotional investment in the MSQ and my deep-seated love for the (pre-6.1) look and feel of the SAM job are what keep me anchored here.
Never played WoW, never will lol.
I have a habit of trying out new WoW expacs when they come out, usually it's one of the more fun times in an expansion's life cycle since there's so many people running around and everything's very new without the apparent flaws standing out just yet. I may try this one, though a part of that is admittedly being kind of a weakling when it comes to anything dragon themed (I'm just a big fan of dragons, in general) and I do like playing more MMO's (and just games) than only XIV since I think having more experience within the genre can make you a bit more well-rounded when it comes to critically thinking about systems and design (which, is fun to think about -- I'm no genius on the subject, but it's fun to kind of just... try and think it all through, y'know?). If there was any truth to that "NFT" thing I saw floating around (I haven't dug into it, I just know it was on a survey or something) then no, I won't touch it at all at that point.
I might play games with cash shops I disagree with, with some monetization practices I hate, but I do have some hard lines.
As for the housing, if they do it, would make me curious. I'd wonder what angle they'd approach it from, how they handle the problems other games face (if they do manage to), how they choose to implement it in the world, etc...
No. Knowing Blizzard even if they did add housing, it'd be a feature for exactly one expansion before it's abandoned in the next and they do everything in their power to discourage you from interacting with it.
No. That bridge wasn't burnt, it was nuked harder than Bozja
I play both actively so yeah, I'd keep going back to WoW and get housing there. I love my Garrison.
lol no
A housing hiccup isn't going to make me leave and go back to World of Diablocraft 3. I quit in WoD and every time I go back to see for myself how WoW's changed I just end up laughing while I get a refund of 15 dollars.
FFXIV is the last MMO I'm gonna play. I hate the genre for the most part and I hate hardcore PvE. I only played WoW for 10+ years for arena and somehow they make that worse every expansion. If FFXIV becomes raid savage or die or my classes get gutted I'm just done with MMOs for good. Though with how much midcore and casual content they produce I'm probably going to be here for a good while.
