Will the bug ticket I sent be rewarded with house I won on?

Issue: Number 0 won, I was the only participiant with number 1 in the lottery.

Can send me a message ingame, and give me what I won, it is not to much to ask.

I full expect this:

"We apologize for the inconvenience" Then they will tell you to collect your refund if you haven't done so and try again next week.

This BTW is completely unacceptable.

They need to allow single participants to have won, what they have already won.

If this were a real life lottery and you were the only participant the result would be the same.

Let us hope the servers actually recorded some kind of log for them to even prove that, but given whats currently going on I cant even pretend to be confident they are.

I hope mine will and others who also were the only people to bid on an fc house to get their fc house. They were the ones who locked content, fc buffs, and numerous other things behind this system. Waking up to this was not fun and honestly went onto the ever growing list of things making me wish to quit the game entirely. I enjoy it enough, and love spending time with my friends in this place, but many things pile on top of each other and make the reasons for staying less and less each time.

Housing rage has and always will continue until every single person who wants a house gets ones. Which in all likelihood will NEVER happen. Yoshi P has taken a firm no stance on instanced housing wards because he wants housing based around social interactions and community. He will NEVER do it.

I think you some of you are getting way too technical and some of the posts are convoluted when they need not be. A lot of people make great points, but regardless of what they did, the RNG code is created by a person, and they inputted 0 as one of the possible choices for output. I have coded in Python and Mathematica before, and if you import random, and then you list the parameters, e.g. list=1,2,3,4,5... It is pretty easy to see, that when they listed their parameters for the housing lottery system, they included 0 (zero) in the list of possible choices that could be rolled. If they did in fact did put zero into their list, as in: listhousing or list1 (whatever you want to call it) = 0,1,2,3,4,5..., when as stated earlier, it should have been list1=1,2,3,4,5...

If what I stated is correct, then in all fairness, they should roll back EVERYONE's bids, because if 0 (zero) was counted as a possible RNG choice, then EVERY roll is invalidated and needs to be done again. I know it sucks for some people, but in all fairness, if zero (0) was included, then redoing it is the most fair solution.

Yeah almost every MMO would do it this way. It's rough but it is what it is.

Archeage when they introduced guild castles and had an entire server crash didn't roll back anything, I doubt SE is gonna do that

You should realize bugs are part of any game and even mmos and even though its unfair and it sucks crap like this happens. Posting the same thing copy paste on every single thread doesnt change that fact.

It was an obvious coding bug or goof up it will get fixed, life will go on. Saying it multiple times across every thread doesn't make it any more valid.

You are under the assumption they even have the ability to track this info with their current system. And if even if they DID/DO have the capability think of the clear man power and time involved it would take to go through every plot on every server in every data center. Even if that is possible the amount of time that would take from game development vs saying oops bid again.

I mean I get why you guys are mad and its validated but at the end of the day it still turns into a get over it and move on type situation. You all think developers have some easy "fix everything button" with a single keystroke. Its never that simple.

100% they will fix the bug and you will have to re bid again you might lose thr 2nd time when you would of won originally and that is shifty but its 100% what is going to happen.

You're under the assumption that they *don't* have that ability in this current system - but there must be some information about participants stored otherwise they'd have no way of contacting the players automatically to inform them of a win or a loss, as well as a way of making sure that only the winner can claim the plot and then finalise the sale. Even if it's just a string of ID numbers instead of player names and so on. Shouldn't be a massively difficult fix to simply re-roll every plot where '0' won and have another fair lottery *or* remove '0' from the possible winners and just give the plot straight to a single entrant in the case of plots that only had 1 participant, assuming of course they haven't claimed their refund.

Janky code got us into this mess and it'll be code that fixes it. It's not like the devs are going to be going through their databases with a finetooth comb and spending countless man-hours on this because you'd have to be clinically insane to think that that's the best way of fixing the issue.

All we can really do though is wait and speculate. Could be that they'll actually make good on this and come up with an amiable solution, could be that your doomposting prophecy is fulfilled and we all have to take a big ol' bite of the shit sandwich and if I'm being honest, I think your assertion is probably going to be right in the end because there's no fair way to please everyone even if they did completely roll everything back - which they're not going to do. Either way, we know nothing for sure and I'm hoping that SE realise that the playerbase at large is furious with them... Question is, what are we going to do about it?

Yes I would expect that, SE it not some small company, I espect the GMs/Devs to go through each single little case and pushing through, it is not like million things they need to look through, and expected actual live fixes, is not a bad thing to do when it is causing this much trouble to people.

This is not a bug that hits all... eg.with different jobs... or the Rabahn meme from Storm Blood, where measure can be taken global, rather than individual.

Yes they must be able to see alot of things for eg , i was the only bidder and i lost to the 0......if i click on the placard it says there was only the 1 bidder, and also if i click on the timers menu, select estate then status, it tells me i still have a current entry, so if i can see it they can see it.

Here is the thing, they wont be able to see anything if we get into the next lottery period, so yes they must address this now, not in 1-2 weeks, patience has run out when they did not QA/Test the lottery system, it would had shown the problem pretty much asap, if they did a test of it before release, also they do know that this is something that bothers people alot, so yes... it would had been better if a dungeon or something instead had a minor flaw in comparison.

Even on basic as all heck SQL databases I have the ability to perform a full table lookup. Takes minutes at the worst. Lookup command > if bid > if solo bidder > flag plot for solo bidder > search zero > replace command > done.

Have over twenty friends/extended family talking about un subbing over this so no thank you. Company screwed up so they get to expend the time fixing this mess because that is what they are paid to do. Wish I was given this kinda slack when I worked in the field.

Backend databases for mmos are not some rube goldberg rocket science level of complexity.

They definitely, no matter how spaghetti their code is ABSOLUTELY have access to every persons lottery number for every property and when they put in for the lottery and if they won or did not win and what they won or did not win against. If they did not this would not be a video game, it would a series of spreadsheets in a notebook. You will never convince me that they do not have this information. It is not magic, it is C++ or Lua it is hard to find the information of what exactly crystal tools is using currently. They have something similar, even if not called such, an sql database. They need access to things such as this in order to fix situations within the game. Character backups, world backups, everything. They are not just magically warping the game through some kind of magical wormhole and beaming the game to our computers without the knowledge of literally everything done within the game. The question is how long it would take to find these things in the code depending on how sloppy they coded it, and if they decided to be cheeky and name things something dumb like 'big gorilla' when it is a call to housing.

It is still saying on the houses how many participants have bid because they never refreshed the lottery. People's names are still in every placard who did not refund, and it also would have the information of who bid on what house, who isn't getting a refund and other things. They have access to all of this information, if they did not they would not have the location of the items that caused issues in the housing wards back during one of the past events. They know where and what is causing the problems.

The amount of tickets that would need to be checked would be insane, its not going to happen. They also cant reroll as players already decorated etc. if they did that the shitstorm would FAR outweigh any of this.

Considering they had problems with an automated system ... them reviewing and handling this on a ticket by ticket case and doing it manually would cause even more problems. Its a massive L from SE and a massive F for the community. The faster you get to terns with this the easier it will be.

You get your money back and that's it, the player base will get a pity few days of few subscription. This will cause the white knights to shield up and say "well you got something now shut up" and spam all posts with critical posts. There will be no accountability to SE or Yoshi P and criticism even the valid and well phrased one will be shut down.

Then again, this forum has been proven time and time to be unmoderated except for bug and problems section, no one will ever read ANY comments unless their reported lol. So any and all feed back that is not directly submitted via the mail thing is void and pointless.

We honestly don't know what they are or are not capable of doing with the system at this point. It could be they can set it to reroll winning numbers on any plots still available for purchase.

We'll have to wait and see what fix they come up with.

I also don't think you understand what forum moderation is. Moderation has nothing to do with feedback. It has to do with making certain anything posted is acceptable under the forum rules.

That does not mean that the forums are not monitored for feedback, which we know does get passed on as their have been changes made in the past based on player feedback - like adding a lottery so players no longer have to placard camp.

There are 2 ways to communicate with SE, the live letter threats in which they pull questions and the web page ticket system. There is zero interaction on a forum level beside the "oh hey this post has 100 pages maybe look at it", which is what happened to the male Viera and lotto system. So no unless you create a massive explosion, no one will read it. Or do you really believe posts with 2-3 pages are even looked at?

You don't know that to any degree of certainty. Not all problems are as simple as they appear, or as easy to coax out of the build.

With this one, if they tested it... not just by a couple of attempts on their test server or where they test this module at... then it is clear they only run like maybe 1-5 tries or something and got 1 or higher every time... its something they could had tested by a 1000, for a generator or the likes running it on auto matic and see if any oddities show up.
