I would like to encourage everyone to keep providing the feedback YoshiP asked for.

If you dislike the changes, you should provide your feedback on the forums. Don't tell yourself that it won't matter, that's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

SE's tactic has always been to ask players to understand, or try the changes out, then stay quiet until people move on or accept. Then we get stuck with the game slowly becoming worse and worse. Samurai wasn't the first or the last time this will happen. Please consider providing the feedback YoshiP asked for.

Of course, other jobs are also welcome to speak up. This is the best time. Saying nothing is the equivalent of silent acceptance.
Edit: I've invited other jobs to share their own feedback because I thought it will help them get seen while the feedback was invited by YoshiP and there are many starting to post for the first time. It was with good intentions. Not to come here and show utter pessimism.

I would also like to use this space to show what the JP side has to say about the changes for Samurai, so I will add it here:
- The cast bar no longer has a purpose, the justification is gone
- The large majority wish to go back to 6.08
- There are talks asking what place Samurai has in a party. Additionally, there are talks of excluding/benching them.
- Tenka Goken change is unanimously disliked. It is even memed on there, talking about the skill "coming out the rear". The power of the skill is also worthless
- Kaiten removal has left many feeling like something is missing
- The strength of Iaijutsu is a joke and many feel the identity of the Samurai is gone
- Shinten/Kyuten spam is loathed. Many recall their experiences in Stormblood
- Direct comparisons stating that the change is the equivalent to never performing a critical hit on your finishers now. Hyosho Ranryu has been used as an example showing how much of a difference this change has caused
- There are some talks of Direct Hit guarantees, but they have been shot down
- Many are taken by surprise by the potency nerfs
- Many speculate it was for newer players
- There are many posting for the first time because they don't want to be viewed as accepting these changes
- The change is only to make balancing easier, so the change is for the developers. None of the changes were meant for the Samurai players.
- Suggestions to change the gauge as it is now pointless to have
- Very positive feedback on PVP Samurai only.
- Many ask for an explanation and to define what "Pure DPS" means at this point.
- Some talk of Seigan and Merciful Eyes.
- Don't touch what isn't broken. It's better to do nothing if you don't understand.
- Talks of quitting, not logging in anymore, tears. Few posts talking of how emotional they were and how some had to hold off posting due to it.
- Some people that were previously somewhat accepting of the change have changed their mind after reading the overwhelming amount of feedback, and think its for the best to revert them.
- Some posts saying that the consistent DPS is beneficial technically, but is unrewarding by removing the job's current identity without giving anything back. In other words, boring.
- Does the developer even play Samurai?
- Break your sword in half and play lol
- DRK opener does more within the 20s opener, so we should give the cards to DRK from now on
- You have to hit a striking dummy for 6-7 minutes to get back to where you were in 6.08
- Very negative impressions after the patch note reading
- More posts saying that in Instanced Dungeons, they feel worthless and powerless due to the AOE change.
- Consistent DPS means your uptime is more important now compared to before. Therefore it is a detriment for newer players. Who is this for?
- The math has been done and while NA has been downplaying the impact severely (emphasizing the average), JP views it differently (emphasizing the 90-100) and it is considered an objective nerf
- YoshiP has stated this is for the future. People question why now and not to make this change at that time. This is in reference to his statement of critical hits (the system itself) becoming a problem, yet only one job was changed for it.
- Allusions to job favoritism

Healers have given feedback for 6 years. Yoshi P doesn’t give a shit about them and he made it pretty clear.

At this point I'm just about certain they will revert the Sam changes come 6.11. I want them to revert Ninja too, but that seems to be an uphill battle, since from looking at rough google translations on jp forums, people are 50/50 on the change. I have a feeling that shifting into the 120 meta is a hill the balance team is willing to die on.

All valid point, to be honest i'm sure kaiten was annoying to figure out for balancing especially with the auto crit change, but it felt like the lazy way out and just ruin the job for us so fuck that.

I also feel like the Nin Trick change was also a bit for the same reason too, sure it's easier to not drift now that it's not linked to the ninjustsu but at the same time you can bet not having to worry about a job buffing twice as much as everyones else make it easier to balance, if it wasn't for that Mug would be a 1 minute cooldown too.
I ain't saying they shouldn't look for easier way to balance the game at all, but if it come at the price of job identity and feel well maybe don't take that road.

Now that it’s affecting dps jobs everyone is up in arms. I’m sure the samurai change will get fixed, and then everyone will keep silent on healer problems yet again.

Not every DPS is the same. MCH problems still getting ignored after 4-5 years. Damage is too low, ping problems unfixed.

edit: also, I love that the JP community is memeing Tenka as being literally a wet fart since that's about as strong as it feels now. Perfection.

The devs do listen and I’m pretty sure they did with a idea or it’s just a coincidence. The devs are doing a great job on the game and made it a fun theme park experience. I hope they continue to grow it. When they do a good job they rarely hear it on the forums. A personal lesson I learned is to not just complain but provide feedback back to how you’d like to happen to a problem. If doesn’t matter if your idea has no likes or gets down voted. The devs might like the idea and use it.

For me personally I would like to see a revamp on our story actions. I wish our loyalty dictated our action like in with DC Universe Online. Where our we choose a faction that has more of a force full approach to get the job done. The game play and combat has gone down and getting stale because it wasn’t good in the beginning. The mashing of button endlessly on a fate when soloing shouldn’t be that hard. In DCUO when you have to kill 10 things they ideally die in 3 or 4 hits.

Small quest dungeons are located throughout the map in DCUO and adds fun and mystery to maps. Yes it’s instanced but it adds flavor when a quest leads you to a instanced dungeon from a building door or basement.

Map exploration and collectibles are fun in Lost Ark. this makes exploration fun. Please add more secret collectibles through the game world..

Easy: by being the only role the developers give a crap about. Now, that's not a *guarantee* they'll listen, but it's how it works. DPS jobs get adjustment attention CONSTANTLY. "Don't expect full reforms mid-expansion" has a caveat- DPS can get it. I'm not here to healer blackpill in your thread, I do that plenty in the healer forums, but I have to poke my head in here to laugh at the DPS pretending like they get changes pushed through because they're somehow "more constructive about it" instead of it very, very blatantly being the favorite role. I switched to playing DPS years ago for that very reason.

Correct me if i’m wrong but Mch at least got a rework in ShB and was in a somewhat good spot and it was seen as an improvement. Healers have been gutted every single expansion, to the point that the devs solution was to tell them to “go play ultimate” for engaging gameplay.

Oh please dont act all high and mighty because you dps players are pandered to and constantly get changes done. You know well enough there is a major double standard when it comes to healers vs dps. It's not about you being better at conversing, its just it being the most favored role. Plain and simple.

Thank you for sharing this! Good to know that our SAM brothers and sisters in JP are just as fervently against these changes as we are.

Honestly the only thing I dont outright 100% dislike is the change to tenka goken and even that is 50/50. The job just doesn't feel right to play since the patch. I started playing SAM towards the end of SHB and really enjoyed it and then when 6.0 came out I felt that the job had really hit its stride and felt amazing to play like it had had its natural progression from SHB. Really hoping they revert changes quickly.

Mch was redone in ShB and it was awful. Then in 5.3 or so they adjusted it to make it work how it does now. The problem is they dropped the potency on it toward the end of 5.x before ew, and it's dps and optimization have been in the toilet. The main issue is that wildfire and heat blast have had ping issues since before ShB and the player base has repeatedly asked for adjustments to it. Yoshi and the devs have been point blanked asked about it multiple times and the reply is we've never gotten any negative feedback about it. When there is proof they have. Also in lives it's pretty clear they don't want to talk about mch at all. Yes the ShB readjust did some amazing things but it made some other problems and they refuse to adjust what players are asking for.

Instead of only focusing your energy on complaining that they do nothing, please add suggestions they can take. I very much dislike the state the game is in now where everything is slowly becoming simpler.

One thing I would have found interesting are heals/shield use augmenting Broil/Glare/Malefic. Maybe bring back a water attribute spell that can proc from using the shields on WHM, as an example.

For MCH, they don't deserve the current treatment they are getting either. Even simple QOL fixes being rejected is ridiculous.

The thing is, if y’all had been as loud for healers as you are for samurai right now, you might not even be in this situation to begin with. The simplifying and job gutting started with healers. You are pairing us with a generalization and that is not fair. When you say "people" or "you guys" you should know better that we are not "everyone else". For the record Samurai wasn't 100% perfect either and there were many things that could have used QOL or touchups. We didn't receive them until much later and even then they reintroduce more problems or are completely different from what we asked. You have my support, if that means anything. Just please stop with trying to pick a fight when everyone should be in unison in pushing for change. It's in everyone's best interests.

I've said this to more than one healer main, and I'll repeat it to you - I am not a healer main. Repeat *NOT* a healer main. Changes and nerfs to healers largely go unnoticed by me because I mostly play tanks and DPS. I dabble from time to time, but I don't have even a fraction of the time invested or personal investment into the role that you do, and the same can be said for the majority of SAMs who are making their feelings known on the server. It sucks that healers are having a bad time of it, but besides standing behind you to wave a flag of support and yell "That's it! You go tell them what's what!" I don't know what else you expect any of us to do. By the same token, I can't jump in and help out the MCH mains who *are* the same role as me because I don't play the class. It's like asking a rocket scientist to give a keynote speech on neurosurgery... Sure they're smart, they're articulate and they might be willing to help but if they've got little to no knowledge of the subject matter then anything they really have to say is moot, unless of course you write the speech for them.
We can't give you want you're asking for, but what you can do is stop hijacking our threads to vent your own issues with a role we don't play. I get that misery loves company, but if you can allow the playerbase to set a precedent for rolling back changes in one area, then you might open up the door for the devs to listen to feedback from other areas. Either you can ask us for support and support us in kind, or your can make yourself out to be the bad guy and claim favouritism because DPS players are standing up for themselves but you can't have it both ways.

While I don't play Samurai as my main job, I do have a samurai alt at level 70 which I was pretty excited to level further and eventually do endgame content with. If these changes stay in the game it's unlikely I'll ever touch that character again.

Samurai have also dealt with bad neglect since the beginning of Stormblood. Many were excluded from parties for simply being Samurai. I was told to play NIN instead from people who filled in for my static and they performed half as well as I did. Just because they are stubborn, you give up? Push harder. I’m just simply saying, don’t expect change when the healers haven’t gotten any for 6 years. More power to you guys though if you keep up the brigade on this for 6+ years as well. I’m just pointing out though, i find it a bit ironic. The amount of threads filling up the forum about this samurai change. In the end these threads do push down other threads, so unfortunately healer threads are affected by them. It’s not about them being stubborn,they’re lazy devs. They don’t want to fix it. Either way, mark my words. I’ve seen this happen before and it’s going to happen again. These forums will be clogged up by samurai complaints, the devs will eventually give in because dps is the pandered role, and then we’ll go back to praising the game, having the healers on the back end of everything and dps gets to be satisfied.

Whats mainly rich though is someone trying to say healers need to sit back and watch how dps players get things changed, when in reality again, its a pandered role that receives the most attention. Theres nothing to sit back and watch for lmao.

Not to be 'the guy' but this is a blatant lie.
I haven't seen a single SAM thread posted in Healer Roles. They've all been limited to the DPS roles messageboard, which is where you're currently posting. If healers are posting their problems with healers in the DPS section, you should expect that your threads will get ignored and pushed down by DPS players posting in the DPS section. Samurai players posting their feedback which was specifically requested by the devs does *NOT* affect healers in the slightest, you coming in and derailing SAM threads to complain about healing *DOES* affect these DPS threads though - so if you wanna point out a double standard, you could start by looking in the mirror.

Take your doomposting misery and leave it outside of the thread. People are trying to campaign in their own right to make the changes for it. Just because you are jaded from not getting changes you wanted all this time does not mean that you should attempt to discourage others from attempting to do the same.

Let’s not get off topic here. This discussion is about the 6.1 samurai changes. Taking a “healers vs dps” approach is neither helpful nor kind to do.

Voicing our displeasure with the general gameplay philosophy that comes with the 6.1 samurai changes is very fair for the player base to do. I understand that game developers are human and humans make mistakes. The point of this discussion is to show that there was an oversight in their decision making this patch and if we make enough noise, they’ll see what we see.

We can discuss our opinions in a constructive manner without trying to bring down other players’ experience.

I'm not sure how a large quantity of threads being made on the dps role forum could possibly overshadow healer threads. If anyone would want to complain about it, it'd be other DPS. But I don't see many NIN or MCH players coming into these threads and raising a stink about how their issues are being ignored.

That being said I think the main difference between healer feedback and samurai feedback in this case is that SAM players are pretty united in their feedback and what they want done, whereas healer feedback all kind of agrees that healer feels unfun and unsatisfying to play, every healer seems to have a completely different ideal about how to deal with that problem. Most Samurai players want is kaiten back and auto-crits removed, it's a lot easier to implement feedback when it's that clear and universal.

While you are partially correct, there is one single motion that a majority of the healer mains have agreed on, and it’s more dps options, of which Yoshi P “addressed” and said they wouldn’t add more. End of the day, your loss is regrettable but that doesn't mean you should drag others down with you by telling them their attempts were futile. Well, no one can stop you from telling others to stop trying but if people don't want to share in the misery of it, they'll fight it until the end or they'll just join you at the bottom in the sediment. Either way, one should not stop trying to fight for what they believe even if the action is futile in their eyes but if you feel the effort isn't worth it, I am sure there is something else more worth the effort rather than suffering in silence.

If you're not willing to let go of something that causes you misery, you'll become a shell of yourself from expending an inordinate amount of energy trying to retain it.

for honest criticism, I just want dark knight to be comfier to play. It's not that the job is busy, because I absolutely love gnb and thats arguably even more busy. It just feels so awkward and unintuitive to play sometimes. Its a 1-2-3 combo and a bunch of OGCD's with worse fell cleave. I just want to be a cool greatsword person AND have fun :(((

Samurai mains are well within their rights to complain about 6.1 changes. If Square listens to you, great. If they dismissively tell you to kick rocks, that sucks. You've got a lot going for you at least: JP seems to hate it (and that usually gets attention much faster), and you're in the DPS role, which also tends to get attention faster.

What I won't countenance is the eyeroll-worthy gaslighting I hear from DPS mains constantly pretending as if it was their "approach", or their "tone", or "just more constructive tactics", or "being more specific", or "persevering more" that got their voices heard: it's because they're DPS, and the devs care FAR more about the role than the other two. We've been telling the devs that spamming our 1 keys is boring. We got the 1 key spamming question as one of the most popular questions in a live letter, Yoshi pretty much said "too bad". Healers are curebots, stay in your lane, heal me when I take damage, I'm a DPS and my experience of you healing me through MY dungeon queue is the important fun here.

Again, petition to revert SAM to your hearts' content. But I'll narrow my eyes and get my typing fingers going every time a DPS pretends like there isn't a blatant double standard, or that healer complaints are "unfocused" and that's why they don't get heard.

There is no double standard here being applied here except to screen the obvious skepticism that you have. You opinion is noted but it's obviously not needed.

I just like to bring up that time and money was wasted in ruining a job when the developers could have literally done absolutely nothing and that would have been better.

Unless there is an ulterior motive like nerfing a job they don't like and forcing players to pick up jobs they (the developers) like which is not probable but is still a possible explanation given that they have offered zero reason for the removal of Kaiten that sticks because there are far more bloatier buttons like Tsubame-gaeshi, Hissatsu: Guren and Shoha II that could be merged with other buttons.
