Please enforce 1 Tank, 1 Healer, 3 DPS in CC.

I'm starting to see problems arise when you're on a team of all DPS and the other team has the triad to win. While we can deal more damage, having CC and big heal options is a major advantage considering Solo Queue does not favor focus fire 90% of the time. The times that it does it matters.

Why? So the queue can die instantly and just go back to 90 minute queues like with the feast?

Healers honestly barely do anything. We have 2-3 healing abilities on 15-30 second cooldowns. Enforcing a RDM or SMN to be on each team would be more game changing than the healers themselves since those DPS jobs can dish out more damage and healing lmao

The queue wouldn't be garbage if the mode was fun at any level. Not having a tank on your team is a death sentence and having unbalanced teams in A RANKED COMPETITIVE MODE is just ridiculous. Nobody would/should ever say that's a great idea to make teams unbalanced in a mode that was meant to be "competitive".

Open roles for non-ranked? Sure, go for it. In ranked, either lock rolls, or open up chat. It's going to die if they don't anyway.

30 matches as a WHM and I don't feel overpowered except. If all of us are clustered together and 5 enemies are infront and all have taken at least some damage. If I can get limit break off in those conditions, every time we have killed all 5 enemies extremely fast. At higher levels I am sure it makes a diff, but in the lower tier how many people can set up that consistently. DRGs work just as well as tank if they set up in right spot.

Its never going to be balanced because that is the nature of pvp and tanks are just weaker dps with CC. Healers are DPS with some healing. DPS have CC and self heals themselves. The parity between everyone is pretty even. I've gone in as a warrior, sage, bard, sam and mnk and honestly I didn't feel any advantageous playing any of them. The mode itself is pure chaos in a fun way and most of my wins have come up AGAINST teams with a "balanced" comp of dps tank and heals.

They will tweak it as they go, but the format overall is perfectly fine.

I'm sorry but this is just incorrect. Yes, some JOBS may be unbalanced, but making entire teams unbalanced where you can't adjust correctly is just a terrible system. And tanks are not "weaker", with their CC and survivability, they are a "drastically superior" dps.

Ranked is meant to be competitive, so why make it impossible to balance teams correctly making it completely NON-competitive? You want pure chaos fun, fine, that is what casual mode is for, but I thought ranked was meant to be something more.

Thats going to happen regardless of composition. The mode is fotm and will die in a month

It wouldn't die if SE added a roulette to it, but it seems they want it to end the same way as the feast and rival wings.

They are weaker in the fact that they do less damage. I'm easily deleting people with samurai. I can't do that on warrior. I'm a little tankier, but damage is too low to burst anyone.

Yes I agree with this. It should be in the roulette and give out exp like frontlines. Why they only put frontlines in the roulette is beyond me. Its the same with rival wings. If they put rival wings in the roulette it would actually get played more often. I don't understand why they only have frontlines in there....a mode I can't stand as its just a aoe zerg fest. Large scale pvp is just not fun to me.

This entire system is total cancer. I have been trying to rank up past bronze for hours now, but for every Victory, there are 2 losses making it totally impossible!
The worst part is, its totally out of our hands if we get a Team who knows what their doing, or a team who stands around watching as you get 2v1ed into the ground (Literally watching, not attacking, not healing, not stunning, nothing, just doing nothing).

This feels like a constant one step forward, 2 steps back and its pushing my rage levels through the roof!

As someone who has sat in queue for literal hours on end for a match due to role restriction, no thank you. Yes, the team with the all DPS cannot play the same way the team with the triad can. The DPS team, however, can easily pick off people way easier than the triad team. So if you are on an all DPS Team, place a marker on an enemy, they get CC'd a million times over, they die, rinse and repeat.

Sounds like a you problem then I guess.

Everyone is a healer now. Healers are just supports now with WHM getting a big boom. Recuperate, guard, and standard-issue elixer are your friends. If you can't manage your own health bar without a healer after these amazing abilities, then it's definitely a you problem.

I've won and lost against 1 tank 1 healer 3 dps teams as a variety of different comps. The mode is chaotic and that makes it fun IMO.

While im really annoyed at alot of things right now I can probably say there is a large degree of xiv players who have never actively engaged in pvp games now trying to pvp. So large swathes of the playerbase we are being paired with dont understand things like "focusing tank bad" and running around corners LoS so you can Standard Elixir without getting cancelled, lining your cc up to burst when you see someone getting low. Alot of us expect these things as common sense. I feel like to many people we are getting put on teams with stuff like this is not infact common sense and its making some of us get irrationally annoyed.

The only thing they should restrict is similar comps get matched with similar comps. Restricting a pre determined cimp would make queue times longer.

Please for the love of god do this. How is this not a thing? Is it a bug? Someone up late drinking when planning this?

YOU NEED TO ENFORCE THE ROLES. Otherwise remove ranked as a concept from your game.

It was intentional and no they don't need to enforce roles. Role enforcement is one of the reasons feast had such long queues. EVERYONE has a heal and a shield and some form of defensive CD that heals or reduces damage by half. Most of ya'lls complaints are straight up L2P issues. Heck I spent like 2 hours yesterday doing nothing but dueling (was awesome and a ton of fun btw. Shame wolves den will empty out in a few days) and it was clear as day that a lot of FFXIV players really don't know how to pvp. Out of the dozens of fights I think I only lost like 3 or 4 of them and that was mostly me just being unfamiliar with how to fight the paladin or just unluckily bad timing and getting bursted down by a nin or mnk. Most everyone else just threw out stuns without any forethought and popping CD's at bad times making it stupid easy to avoid any burst they could throw out.

The whole point of the PvP revamp was to make PvP role agnostic. People are still stuck in the mindset that role and comp matters but it doesn't. If it matters it's the specific jobs that matter with regards to balancing and not whether you have the golden ratio of roles, and even that is trivial compared to your team's skill and coordination. Healers cannot keep their team alive single handedly anymore. What healing and support they have is highly restricted by cooldowns or limit break, and for even having that support they are weak in other areas such as damage output.

Everyone is a DPS with heals and defensives. If you're dying at full MP because you're waiting for the WHM to heal you instead of mashing Recuperate, that's your own fault. If the enemy team is beating you it's not because they have a better comp, it's because they are just outplaying you. Even if you have a healer, almost all your healing should be coming from yourself. A 5 DPS team is not at an automatic disadvantage.

The team you get is RNG, but anyone is going to get "better" teams eventually as long as they keep doing matches. There's no such thing as a match with no winner, so if you're stuck losing over and over, someone else is winning the same amount, and they're subject to the same random teams as you. The common thread across all matches is you. While you can't expect to win every match, if your skill level truly lies in a higher tier, then on average you will win more matches than you lose, which means you WILL eventually rank up.

Rolls don't matter.
I've won clearly with 1 healer/4 tank groups, 1 healer/4 dps groups and lost games against 5 DPS with a 1/1/3 comp.

It depends only on how good people can focus a single enemy, especially in lower ranks.

Every Team composition i encountered so far has the POTENTIAL to win aganist any other ( i have yet to experience a 4 tank or healer team since i only do Ranked, but i hold my opinion on that one for now).

If things go south for you for any reason, maybe you should try thinking about your overall approach on how you handle combat in itself. If you just zerg in, and pray that overwhelming is enough to win, you WILL be taught by someone better that it requires way more than that than it used to like in Feast or Frontlines in the past.

I saw enough matches in Crystal Conflict so far to be able to tell, that the new pacing PvP combat now has, is something even the most experienced Feast shenanigans STILL struggle with, simply because it is so different.


Tl;dr : give PvP some time to sink in, it is more different than you might think it is.

I think a better solution would just be to allow you to TALK to your party and then switch classes either before the battle start or like in Frontlines, on the respawn point.

That way, y'know, you guys have a bit of time to talk composition out, you can adjust tactics and you get A composition that would be useful. After all what work might not be a 1/1/3 but maybe you get a really good pair of Tanks that lock them down with a bunch of ranged guys adjusting them. Maybe the Sage can get a guy that really could use Kardia, maybe there's already a BRD and a MCH so you don't really feel like also playing backline on NIN when there's nobody diving into them and instead of going weird on Huton and Meisui you'd rather just pick DRG instead.

And if you really want to lock both chat and classes, you could do so AFTER the gates are open in the 30s so you could at least do some last minute decisions instead of just having those 30s filled with awkwardly enforced silence and quick-chat nonsense.

It's almost like the PORTRAIT feature being flashed before CC is more important than the gameplay of it.

But the gist is, having the option of changing your Job during the waiting phase, would result into People only choosing unfair or very specific compositions they deem as "the best one" which would just destroy many aspects of the Mode and what gives it its charms.

Victories should never be taken for granted in PvP, sometimes you might be in a Team that might seem unusual at first, but it might have hidden advantages you might notice over time.

You're better off just adding a focus fire like they had before for feast, although I dont know how useful that would be. (*stares at tank stats*)

Anyways, some are already talking about not playing healer anymore due to the changes. Adding restrictions to the mode is only going to end up creating the same exact problems that feast had then: a dead mode in certain ranks half of the season, and certain roles having too long of a queue time. Unless there is an incentive for healers here like it is on the pve side (roulettes) I do not see this idea working out at all in the long run.

HAHAHAHA, the most experienced PvP players are artificially held in check? Yeah, that is literally the opposite of what a ranked competitive mode is.
