The Ultima fight is also pretty good.
I was curious so I queue MSQ roulette and go 4-man Ultima Weapon:
-finish in 25 minutes.
-Two phases.
-Cannot skip phase transitional cutscene. Such devastation.
-Combat mechanic is mostly new for both phases.
-Mommy Crystal gives you free LB3 for a 4-man.
Actually surprised by this.
Considering the majority of the changes this patch has been negative for me.
Only thing I would like to see is able to skip cut scenes again. Newer players can use npc ez mode if they want to see it.
No. If you queue, you accept the cutscenes. New players want to see it as it happens, not when you think they should.Quote:

Just tried it out :)
I really love the change!
Tried it solo synched with BLU. Fairly straightforward. Still can't skip cutscenes even when solo. Took nearly 20 minutes so not worth it as a Poetic farm.
Overall it was nicely done for a lv50 fight though.
If they just could scale every older trial to last a bit longer than a few minutes.
i hated the old MSQ roulettes so much that i've refused to run them since 2.0 so iam very hesitate to try the new ones, but i did try the new copperbell and totorak and they were such a blast to run, now if only sastasha would get reworked
likely still some complaints from people, but I thought the rework was enjoyable. I mean 300 runs from now, maybe not so much, but is just a brain dead sprint broken up by social times during cutscenes. but if you lived through Copperbell, how much worse could msq be? lol
Just did Prae. Overall I was satisfied with the changes, especially the dreaded elevator removal. The introduction of actual mechanics was very surprising. Only thing I would still like to see is the removal of walking between the armor to nero and nero to gaius.
Edit: Also if they could have shortened the Nero and Gaius cutscenes that would be even better.
My first thought on that dungeon run was, "Wait, they have mechanics now?"
This is what we should have had back in ARR. It's fun.
Honestly if it wasn't for the unskippable cutscenes, I would have ranked new prae to be better than the majority of the dungeons in this game. It's quite good.
I got it in roulette but I was on a 90 Whm so I don't know if it gave enough experience to justify a roulette queue every day. That's pretty much what it is for most of us. A daily roulette and while it's shorter than old Prae, we did Prae daily for a pretty specific reason. It was a level a day all the way to 80 and a level every 2 days from 80 to 90.
I knew they changed up some of the fights, so I was curious to try the roulette and see where it would throw me and I noticed there are now three duties. I figured the Ultima Weapon fight was going to be a 4-man trial like Ifrit/Garuda/Titan NM. I mean it is, but just the fight and no cut scenes, and it would fall into the leveling roulette somehow. So I was confused and thinking players would be dropping out of the other two duties left and right to get Porta Decumana. No no, I was wrong. Thank goodness!
They basically took the longest part of Prae where most of the cutscenes are tied up at, along with a revamped UW and that's the duty. Way cool. Plus fight is not a total pushover anymore with very 'weapon-esque' mechanics.
I still have to do Castrum and Prae. Also kind of weird only being four players now, but still plenty of chill chat going on during the cutscenes. I am very happy with the change.
Nicely done, not over tuned so also still good for new players while doing the story line.
I just did it then with duty support. And I liked it, a lot.
The mechanics that Gaius uses are really quite nice at the 50 level.
X Blades, Chain bombs, Tank Buster, Stack marker, I actually think it's going to be quite a fun fight for a sprout being taken through the dungeon.
Have to run the others yet, but this is a good change in my eyes.
I ran Prae last night myself. What a difference from the original. I didn't even know the bosses in that place had mechanics lol.
It feels like a whole new dungeon with the layout and even changed/removed cutscenes. Going to take some getting used to for me.
Imo not worth doing anymore at level 69 only got 1/4th of an exp bar. Guess that just removes another roulette from my daily to do list. Its rather sad because I liked the exp before.
It still takes ages because youre not allowed to skip cutscenes. Really bad game design. Old msq was way better you had a bigger group too, to make it go faster. I guess they made it 4 player party because they knew less people would start to run it.
Overall one of the worst changes.
Most people loved Prae runs rather then doing the other one because its literally sleep mode with large rewards.
The only thing the developers did now is change this area into filler. For some reason the Ultima Weapon battle they stretched it out to go on longer like a TV Eposide thats filler to get you to the next epoisde.
For example the Ascian Speech has long pauses now that do not make any sense. As he he is going his speech and moving on to the next line there is a bunch of dead air. When he does his seven hells speech and goes to ultima its just a very long pause for no reason.
They stretched out this fight for no reason.
They did this because hardcore minority players don't like people who watch cut scenes they just want to grind and repeat so they would kick users who watched the cut scenes. This is the response to that. So when the Hardcore Minority who are Mentors whine about how in leveling roulettes new players need to know how to play and yell at them to move faster instead of teaching or understanding the response typically from those people is that we should be mindful to the people who just want to get through it quickly.
This was the same mindset that caused the cut scenes to become unskippable.
It takes roughly umm, 24-ish minutes now for practically the same rewards especially if doing for tomes. Friends are really enjoying the new changes and that they must actually interact with mechanics.
For brand new players this is most good! Showing stack markers and telegraphs early will assist with learning. Much much of the better I say then the sleep inducing fights before. Nothing like grinding through ARR only to arrive at the penultimate where nothing even matters and it is always ignore mechanics o'clock. Have given Square grief in past but from response of friends who are just leaving ARR this was far better motivator for them to continue.
Can beat Ultima weapon in fifteen minutes or less also for massive tomestone reward. May not mean much for those at higher levels but for sprouts gearing (especially alt jobs) this is huuuuuge. 500+ tomes for the cost of one third original run time means they may be more likely to run the roulette again before experiencing burnout.
It's unfortunate it didn't happen earlier, ARR in particular is quite painful to get past for new players especially today.
Ran new Prae yesterday - much cleaner while still hitting the story beats.
Pretty solid.
I did it through NG+ yesterday and even the solo instances are fun. And Ritalin doesn't die after 4 seconds! I had *gasp* fun. lol
Duty support is an option for players not a requirement. Noone should force new players to rush through their cutscenes just because you want to hurry. I get seeing the same scene over and over can get tedious but if you queu for it its because you want the reward which comes from the run cutscenes and all
Duty support coming from a new player in my FC is not an option honestly. They were literally in haukke manor just to test the dungeon out and get their gladiator that one small bit of xp to not go in haukke as a gladiator and as paladin with their new skill. They said it was painfully slow, and wished there was another option that didn't involve a bunch of npcs killing things quadruple the amount of time. If it is anything like the trust at level 71 to 80 attempting to just practice healer I wanted to cry. It is like being in a dungeon with a ton of people just auto attacking. I would like something to be in the game for practice that wasn't horrible because they want people to queue for the duties. Sometimes queueing for those duties are actually worse than trusts. You just can't win unless you have a four stack. We don't even have healing training dummies unless we do and I have no clue how to put one in explorer mode.
About players saying "let's us skip, watch cinematics later"
This is a RPG game for a reason. If you want an extra XP, accept the price. As a player who enjoys the story and did Prae when cinematic could be skipped, I know how anti climatic it was watch it from my Inn.
4 man ifrit is NOT listed as a trial.
Its a solo dungeon boss. Its the first instance like that, to teach you about important mechanics (focus adds).
The only reason ultima takes longer now is because its a separate encounter, and SE was trying to make it interesting. Please dont make old content more tedious than it already is.
The Gaius fight was really fun. Lol, didn't expect him to pull a Snadow Clone Jutsu on us throughout the fight. xD
