Please turn on Auto-Demo again?

Hi, just wanted to say Auto-Demo has been off for a long time now, and there have been NO new houses popping up, like at all. Could we please give everyone a chance to get a house again, and not just from Ishgard? Demand for housing is higher then ever, and there is currently no way to get a house right now (And let’s face it, your chances of getting one from Ishgard are slim at this point)

They only recently announced that they cancelled their plans to turn it back on. Maybe 6.2? We'll see.

Demo will come back on after the current world situation is a bit calmer. Not before 6.1 though, maybe 6.2

Your chances to get one from demo will be even slimmer under lottery. One or two plots will come up and the whole server will have 5 days to put their name down.

Spreadsheet on the housing discord suggest the average time to win will come out to a little over 11,000 days to win a small based on the 9 day window and 2 houses appearing each 9 days.

Considering there was a 7.2 earthquake in Japan a couple weeks ago, it probably isn’t going to be turned back on any time soon.

Your chances of getting a plote through demolition are far, far slimmer than they are for getting one from Empyreum.

If you're looking for a plot in a housing district other than Empyreum, you'll get your chance in the second lottery period. Any plots vacated by those who managed to relocate to Empyreum in the first lottery will be part of the second.

There is a discord that announces all relinquished plots and calculates -estimated- time for sale.

SE remove this shameful tactic.

Demolition is shady business practice, to say the least.

We got a world crisis and due to it we can have a year with extra famine in parts of Asia and Afrika and parts of the middle east, it should stay.

SE favouring people that for what ever reason can't play the game than those that can play the game is ridiculous. There is a genuine housing crisis in a game that SE won't solve, and one of the few safeguards to ensure that there is actually a turnover of properties has been suspended multiple times. This is an MMO, life moves on, why do SE cater to those that aren't playing.

All it is doing is hurting those that play the game, especially the newer players that have to pay lots of money for house and FC house only materials.

Whilst they're at it, they should demo houses from accounts who own multiple properties. That's another ridiculous legacy system that hurts the game.

They definitely should do that. They should just force them to demolish the additional houses within a certain timespan, and any object that would normaly be removed entirely is then refunded to them (making the demolition more graceful - if something like food was partialy used, a full refund of that food). If not done within that time, only the latest house will be preserved and the rest autodemolished.

Or maybe if the island sanctuaries can be made somewhat similar to houses (im not suspecting this to be the case, but then again we dont know the full details yet), convert those houses to a sanctuary.

Yup, I saw a ward on mine that is in a similar situation, not as bad, but has like 8 FCs with the same tag, just slightly different. I'd like to understand the dev's ridiculous reasoning as to why they haven't changed their policy towards old accounts.

I also think going forward, a few wards should purely be dedicated to FCs and that the FC leader has to enter the house to prevent auto demolition, not just any member. Would be good also if there were a minimum number of active accounts required for an FC house such as 4 active accounts to prevent auto demolition.

On top of that, I think things such as this should be considered griefing by the player. With housing being a finite yet, critical part of the game, then hoarding houses by individual players whether it be over multiple or single accounts should be banned.

I'm honestly worried about this whole island sanctuary thing having heard to little from the devs. One of the beauty of housing is that I can share it with my partner and friends as well as the FC house. Yet the Islands sounds like a completely solo situation.

It's bad enough that you cannot share apartments which I would love to do.

They've said Island Sanctuary is "mostly solo content". That makes me think that others will be able to visit our Islands though there may be restrictions (owner must be online and present, or can only visit if on a friends list, or similar). I doubt that would extend to making others tenants, though.

Listen. I get it. You're upset. But (on average) the players owning multiple plots played by the rules when they got them. As such, they should not be punished. In terms of FC-housing, plenty of FCs can share the same 5-digit tag. While that isn't much of a defense to certain groups, it could just as easily be people changing their tag to add fuel to the fire. (Sadly, I am bringing this up as people are indeed that petty.)

You wouldn't really be okay with a police officer coming to arrest you for breaking the NEW law that was put in place today, because what you did YESTERDAY goes against it, would you? That just seems outright backwards.

And, for the record, if you're buying House-only Materials, despite not owning a house, that's on you. Don't claim that SE is bad because you bought something you can't use, despite knowing you can't use it.

Rules can change, and in games this happened often enough.

Something might initialy not be an issue, but there can be a point where it is. And acting to those moments is normal to do. I know a perfect example of this:

In team fortress, initialy it was not an issue to afk to get more items (and therefor more hats). However, at some point someone found a way to not require the game running and still act as if you are online. While also circumventing VAC (because you didnt connect to a VAC server, which was something the devs explicitly mentioned as feature). Technicaly there is absolutely no issue here (no one was realy getting disrupted, there was no market of items as there is now). But the devs at some point just decided enough is enough, and applied a penalty to the ones abusing that tool (while also making it uneffective by setting a cap on items). Those who didnt use it got a hat as reward, just to rub it in.

Limits sometimes just need to be adjusted. And yes, it might sometimes not be in your favour. But at the same time, if you had multiple houses, you already could have gotten a lot of value out of that (from farming). Thats a benefit that stays afterward as those items and gil are not suddenly removed.

There's a BIG difference between limited housing in an MMO and Infinite cosmetic items gained through random chance.

If the hats in TF2 were limited in some fashion (Example being only 200 of the Spys Fez, or Heavys lumberjack beard) then the comparison would be more apt. Valve also punished those who were caught using a Loophole and only them. So it falls again there, since again. The people owning multiple plots were playing by the rules of the time of purchase.

Punishing them now, especially when all of those houses essentially GUARANTEES they remain paying one (if not multiple) Subscription fees, would result in some pretty bad backlash. Getting rid of the people paying (for examples sake) 3x the amount other players are, to make way for someone that may buy the house, then stop playing.. Is kind of a risky venture. I am however, of the mind that if they use the space they have, then all is good but if you own multiple houses just for bragging rights, you should probably have them taken away.

They made the decision to grandfather them and rightfully so. You and others in the take away crowd need to get over it. They followed the rules and as such should not be penalized for doing what was allowed. Get SE to fix housing but not on the backs of those who followed the rules. They will not retroactively apply new rules to slap those following them in the face because you want them too.

A case in point people are still allowed to buy FC's and privates on multiple servers and many who can do and will with 6.1. With your wonderful philosophy they would be at risk at having them taken away at some later date if you were put in charge. SE had the option to limit housing to 1 per account and not per server for 6.1 but they haven't. You can bet they won't take these away if at some later date they decide to limit housing to one per account.

Applying new rules retroactively is not only bad business sense but also unfair to those who followed them.

They don't. They leave it to players to decide how they will use their house (or even not use it) within the design of the system.

That brings in the flaw that Kenky references - now there's an increased demands for house ownership by players who don't want to use a house. They only want the presumed prestige that comes with ownership, or to deny another player a chance to get a house.

lol. So what that they played by the rules, this is a live service game that is constantly evolving. The playerbase has increased drastically and the fact is that housing is an important aspect of this game. The rules changed and the devs should apply it...to everyone equally, not let the older players/accounts keep all their properties just because the rules changed. The devs can make 1 person unhappy to make hundreds of players happy, whom are also paying 100s of times the subscription price, expansion price of the individual who owns multiple plots. They should be catering to the majority, not the very slim minority.

The fact that I have now managed to acquire both an FC house and personal house has only made me angrier at this whole situation regarding the incompetence of the devs over the housing system and the reluctance to enforce their own rules. There are A LOT of players who want to take part in the housing game and cannot due a plethora of issues, one being the whole "grandfathering aspect".

Pretty obvious trying to get you to understand that a company keeping trust with its users and not retroactively changing them would do any good in your case. Then the devs shouldn't change anything in this game, instead, they completely changed how one of the classes (summoner) worked for Endwalker, that's not keeping trust with users. They pick and choose as and when they keep trust with their users. Maybe you are so ardent to defend this practice since you are one of the said users who owns multiple properties. But regardless, it could be considered incredibly selfish to have an individual with multiple properties when there is literally a housing crisis in the game, especially as said properties gatekeep content from players and enable property owners to get rich(er) through artificially limiting supply of resources to those whom are lucky enough to own said properties. When endwalker released, I distinctly recall Thavnairian onions being 500k each on my server... an item only home owners can grow.

They don't get it really and SE does so I'll go with the company and it's decisions when it comes to housing.

Ah, it makes sense now, the forums are full of people who would be affected by this change banging their pots and pans loud. Looks like we'll need to start a movement so that the devs delete your houses then :) The more people that complain on the forums about this, the more likely the devs will change the rules :)

Not really. You can make all the noise you want but SE won't break that trust with users. They do not and will not retroactively apply rules to people taking things away.

And the forum and the game are not filled with people who own grandfathered homes on the same server I might add but there are plenty who do own FC's and privates where they're got alts playing the game on other servers and data centers. That is still allowed if you haven't noticed maybe try reading the new rules again more closely.

I suspect with you the rules will always be a goalpost you will want to move when it suits your agenda.

People have been banging pots and pans about this for years and SE has been pretty stalwart about it. Multiple house ownership wasn't against the rules back then. And apples and oranges comparisons to other things SE has changed over the years is disingenuous.

How about you bang those pots and pans to get the devs to work on something that would actually alleviate the housing debacle. Like more housing, instanced housing increases. Making it so everyone has access to housing whether you're a new player or one that's been around since 1.0. Something other than this incessant 'I want you to take things away from people!' mantra.

And before you assume, no. My FC has 1 house. I own 1 personal.

I don't think you read my post properly earlier. They already have broken trust with users multiple times. You're not special, especially when the devs have to start making the difficult choices.

On a side note, i ask you this question. Do you recognise the fact that you yourself owning property has put you in a unique position in which you are able to get incredibly wealthy due to having access to the gatekept content?

Secondly, do you think it's fair that you are able to get rich off this feature whilst other players have no chance of being self sufficient and have to instead rely on home owners?

I am rich and I didn't make my fortune with housing (gardening or airships/subs) I did by gather/selling mats for the longest time. Honest hard work with many hours spent gathering and selling. I could buy an entire ward with spare change if I decided to not follow the rules. I retired back in 4.2 so I don't need a house to make money sorry to disappoint. Try again.

Legend has it: They don't really listen to Na/ Eu forums and there aren't enough people who agree with your stance.

There's no point or justification in taking away houses from people if they've played by the rules. And there are loopholes but it's allowed. Instead of trying to take the ball away that you want from the kids who already have it, just advocate for a new ball. Be proactive. Advocate for instanced housing, larger apartments with addable tenants, auto-demo to be turned back on
Don't blame the players for taking advantage of a system that SE has allowed.

Oh I didn't know you were the morality police. Tell me do you have a discord where people can check in to be sure what they do meets with your approval before proceeding? The rules aren't good enough we need you to approve of our actions before proceeding.

Do you have specific gardening layout and interior decorating specs too that people need to follow in order to be worthy of owning that house.

And gardening and airship and sub use is an optional feature. Does one have a choice in what they plant and how often cause it would be bad to do stuff you don't quite approve of. BTW I didn't see anywhere in the rules that gardening and workshop activity was required for house purchases. Workshops are also an optional purchase one does not need to buy a workshop to own a FC house. Once you put up an estate hall the option to buy a workshop exists just like the option to buy a FC room.

I actually didn't say whether I think that those people should lose their houses or not. I just pointed out that comparing that to being arrested is a false equivalence.

And yeah, them losing their houses wouldn't fall under the definition of punishment in the traditional sense, i.e. "the infliction or imposition of a penalty as retribution for an offense."

I think it's comparable to the implementation of the auto-demo system. When people originally bought a house, the house wasn't subject to the system; they would be able to keep it forever. Now their house can be taken away from them. It

Not in the case of being a solo player looking for Private housing then you have to hope that that vacant plot just happens to be in the solo wards

True true, it's just ironic that you come here defending the old system still in place for a select few which makes it worse for other players, then you guys say that you aren't the problem even though you are taking up more housing than the current rules allow and not even contributing to the rest of the community. Even if for example there are only 500 houses on the old rules on each server, that's literally thousands of players that could have access to a house.

And it's not like you guys are going around making posts telling SE to add more housing, all you defenders do is try and deflect the issue and say that you aren't a problem when you clearly are part of the problem. And as you know, SE have struggled to actually buy Servers and associated gear plus the cost of them, coupled with the shortage of components for other reasons such as factories going down due to other events, So the only viable option is to release housing from people who own it pre rule change.
