I’ve heard zero information regarding it for about a year, and I’m not sure if it’s because the PS5 version needed more work of if it was entirely dropped. Even more curious about the future as Microsoft owns WoW, now.
The most recent I’ve heard is Yoshi-P wants the port to happen.

As far as I know, Microsoft might've been the biggest roadblock on getting an Xbox version since they want to lock all online functionality behind Xbox Gold... So people would have to pay 2 subscriptions to play on Xbox...

Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida is "positive" on the possibility of the MMO coming to Xbox.

Likely any holdup is due to Microsoft and their sandbox rules/fees, because it isn't the hardware, software, or controller being an issue. -

IMO FFXIV to xbox feels iffy at best to me. They did do FFXI on the 360 however I recall them dropping support for the platform a few years after they made it available on it. I think the cause was not being able to come to an agreement between microsoft and SE in regards to online play and xbox live.

A modern Xbox is literally a PC. It is technically possible, albeit difficult to install Windows on it. I can imagine the manpower or processes to make this happen are great at all.

Last thing devs mentioned about Xbox version was that it was completely put on hold when covid came around. For the most part it was pretty greenlit but SE had to put full focus on EW release. Guessing once things settle with launch and server/data center updates we could see them pick it up again, but feel like it might be something 7.0 or beyond with all the push back.

I've heard two rumors in my time:
1.- SE wants XIV to not use XBL Gold and MS doesn't wans that.
2.- There's a weird clause in XBL that says you can't be in a clan with people on another platform. AKA you can't be in an FC with a PS/Steam person.. or something.
More than asking Yoshi I'd ask Phil about it. -

99% chance its a manpower issue. pretty sure there was an interview where Yoshida literally said the sole factors was workload and order of how they're gonna do it.
and it makes sense; dropping a new port for xbox is a giant workload for a dev team that just about released their own expansion on time, and had their servers buckle under the pressure of their playerbase. i wouldn't expect anything til like 7.0, maybe even further. -

While ESO might not have the same clout, its still one of the more popular MMOs and they gave it Xbox-only enhanced upgrades while ignoring the Playstation version.
