about how...
ignore lists not working
makes your life a pain
by spamming other people's legitimate threads on how you blocked them: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...d-enough/page2
Please, please continue broadcasting to the world that you added someone to your ignore list!
Agreed, broadcasting that you've just blocked or ignored someone is a petty move. Just because you've done that doesn't mean that you've won an argument, it's literally throwing your hands up in defeat!
Agreed. Unfortunately, this is how VBulletin worked for as long as I remember, so I doubt it's going to change. Ignore is effectively useless on it.
Would be nice but sadly that's not going to happen. I have most trolls on ignore and not having to see their troll attempts would be nice.
If putting trolls on ignore hid their threads, we'd lose half of the first page of GD.
The Ignore function on the forums is about as useless as the Blacklist is in game. I desperately wish they'd fix both, but something tells me we're likely to see a Blacklist change in-game before we ever see any improvements to these ancient forums.
blocked. blocked. blocked. youre all blocked. none of you are free of sin
And thats bad , because??
Regardless of the few comments about a person announcing they blocked someone . The point stands . This game and its community section of the dev team has a pitiful attitude towards players having proper control over removing annoyance from their playtime experience because of the terrible , almost useless blacklist/block functions.
When we blacklist somebody , regardless of the reason , we should not be queued together. The game should refuse it if we have blocked people and the game decides to match make us for a roulette.
Block tools should bock , and hide messages , threads , in game duty finder matchmaking from meeting each other again once blocked . Other MMOs have done it for years . Its shocking how little they care about actually giving players the control they deserve to stop bad persons from ruining their playtime even after the fact.
We would not mind it if once we reported people that are inexcusably rude/threatening / racist / creepy/stalky and well known for repeated trolling/ bating , they were actually dealt with like thy deal with people with such ferocity for being annoyed by said trolls /bad attitudes that fester in our duty groups sometimes and we get tired and sometimes get angry in our responses to their shiftiness and we get a temp ban for being angry at them.
If SQE actually had the balls to deal with the bads in the community we wouldn't mind so much that the block functions are useless , but I guess they know to spend a lot on SQE cash shop Phantasia's and clothing so SQE let them stay regardless of their awful social conduct in ff14.
I agree how dumb it is, that I ignore someone, but I still see their posts when someone else is quoting them. They're also unaware that they're being ignored.
The comments did not go the way OP expected.
Threads from ignored people should definitely not show up, then there would be a point to ignore people...
I think it is bad because whilst there's a few legitimate 'trolls' to speak of, sometimes someone being a 'troll' doesn't always negate the validity of the points being raised and makes for an interesting discussion.
The other elephant in the room, of course, is that quite frequently what some people deem to be a 'troll' is anything but - and a clash of humour/personality/posting style/personal tastes is falsely pushed as 'trolling' when it's simply someone saying their piece.
Heh... I Block very very few people in game at least, even when they obviously sh1t on me sometimes for reasonable, sometimes for bad reasons because they don't have firsthand experience or real context / being in my shoes. It is very rare that i'll do and it needs to be very serious. I guess i should have started video recording and "documenting" everything that i'm experiencing in game for 2 + months so people finally get a clue ? Or post videos again about Xenosys vex admitting he been doing RMT services in FFXIV on his own twitch live 3 days ago ? But i also despise that "allways snitch online" so i just "let it be". What some propose as a solution is just borderline insane too. Not that bringing attention to problems i endure by bait calling into "Xeno should be banned again" is better, and maybe i'm baited by trolls that chat in game whe they troll the pf that, after 2 hours of last curtain call failing, say they come from his disc server too, so in the end, it's getting pretty hard to navigate. But "blocking" and confining yourself to an echoing bubble of your preferred opinion and point of view is not a solution and not resolving anything that would be a real / "serious" problem.
You're arguing as if people demanded the power to ban people from the forums.
They don't. They're asking for a way to filter out people they can't stand. Whether that be trolls, or just people who express themselves in certain ways, whatever the reason, it doesn't affect anyone but them, and them alone.
Ignoring someone on the forums should completely hide them from you, and you from them.
The same needs to be implemented in game.
