STAT SQUISH, LOW HP, DPS...for me...SUCKS!!

Even though I know Yoshi said they had to do the stat squish, all I can say its sucks. I remember coming into EW & seeing my HP go from 120K to 29k, it was like a punch in the stomach. Seeing my RDM, which is main, at 90 doing DPS as it did in SB is kind of disheartening.

I'm like could our HP be at least be 75 - 80k at level 90.

IMO, sometimes I do feel my RDM is weaker. Level 80 dungeons when playing ShB seem like a breeze & can get through 15 mins. Now, it seems to take longer. Seeing some of these bosses especially in Pandemonium hit you with 24k damage & u hitting back with 8-12k damage...just SUCKS...lol. Again this is just my opinion & how I feel.

So, an 8-man raid boss may hit for 2 to 3 times the typical per-attack damage of one in 8-players? Ahh, yes, the horror.

Level 80 dungeons take almost exactly as long now as they did then; slightly less time, as far as I've seen, since a greater portion of people doing them will have maxed out those dungeons' ilvl caps. That and one's ability to survive 1-2 consecutive hits are about the only thing of relevance. You'll get used to the new values in time. Or, if it really upsets you, level a new job and it'll push out your old expectations as your HP again slowly climbs, making level 80 feel like it has the same relative strength. That relative strength, the %, and whatever impact that may have on clear times (little to none, it would seem), is all that really matters.

Nothing changed except the numbers. Everything still feels and plays the same. Also, the only damage numbers you are even seeing are your own, and you probably also only care about the big CH and DH ones. Or were you really thinking "Oh no, that tank buster hit me for 60k HP" instead of "Oh no, that tank buster hit me for 1/2 of my HP"?


But please, don't get mad because of my response. Just how I feel and my opinion. LOL.

And this is why you shouldn't focus on the size of the # but the %.

Size really isn't what's important.

I do, however, have the feeling that the squish actually empowered the jobs even more.
I have never cleared dungeon runs as fast as I did before EW. Healers keep tanks up easier, Tanks live longer, and/or DPS burning faster through the trash.

It's wild.

havent noticed it to be fair. I know that some deeps that rely on huge numbers for a sense of pride and ego stroking seem hard hit mentally, but overall... I main healer so watch bars, not numbers. the bars move about teh same so.. no "suckage" from my perspective.

sorry you feel that way though. just be happy you arent in some other game where not only have they done squishing, but put you back to the same level you were when the game was released. thats gotta be fun eh?

It's only a matter of time before we reach ShB's level of damage again since the squish is more SB-level. But then they would have to do another reset. I think it's easier for them to do that now since they finally did a squish.

Also be happy that Square did the stat squish properly ensuring a smooth transition. The stat squish could have very easily had some massive inconsistencies that suddenly made certain parts of old content that used to be really easy to do suddenly entirely impossible due to poor scaling.

This. I expected at least a few older pieces of content to become randomly unbeatable and other bosses to be randomly two-shot.

Granted, WoW's had, what, 3 stat squishes? It wasn't until their level squish (from 120, and what would have gone to 130, down to 60) that things got real buggy. So, hopefully XIV won't see the need to level-squish us after level 99 or 100, if that would likewise cause issues. (Though, there's no solid reason to believe it would. Just none, either, to believe it wouldn't.)

DCUO is suffering from this right now. By default they use to have unsync on naturally for older content, which allowed them to blow through stuff for feat points. Now everything has been stat clamped and runs that could be done in 10 or so minutes are back to taking easily 40 to an hour, along with the inclusion of people immediately leaving if the content they queued for is deemed too difficult or they outright fail.

I have noticed that things feel a little different when I'm doing really old content unsynced for the Wonderous Tales (both for the better and worse) but I can't say it feels any "worse" in current content.

The stat so compressed, it's strange, but everything works normally.

The problem is that if your impressions are bad, you'll stick with it. I had no problems from the old raid content to the last extreme raid.

The impression may be skewed also because there is a resurgence of noobs in the game, old content is often harder to finish because everyone is doing Endwalker content, so newbies are among themselves often in old content and die on easy content.

It's still funny to see 90% of the raid die on the first bump of the first Dun Scaith boss.

Yeah I agree. Pulls that were tough in SHB dungeons in 5.55 are cake now. With maybe the exception of pulling every single mob from the start of Mt. Gulg to the first boss arena.

I don't care about the numbers. Might as well have 1200 HP at max level and I wouldn't care either.

I really disliked the way WoW implemented stat squishes. Honestly I dislike stat squishes in general because they are a sign of a game that has difficulty with power creep and being open ended. I think Guild Wars 2 managed to strike a fair balance in that you were given a limited number of slots to slot in your skills. That never changed as you levelled but what DID change was the number and variety of skills you could slot in. In essence, an endgame character was not so much stronger than one that had just reached max level but perhaps was a lot more versatile. Not sure if such a system could be implemented here. On the other hand, this was about as mild a stat squish as I have ever experienced. A light touch, so to speak. I have no serious complaints.

Each dungeon prior to 80 were tough at times.

As were ones in Stormblood. Mostly noticeable at Bardam's Mettle when Scaeven Gear reached it limit.

going by the assumption that you meant shire gear and not scaevan; it reached it's limits by what measure? 270 is quite literally the highest ilvl someone could be at that point and is perfectly fine to wear, as the nomad gear you get from from bardam's are a measly +6 ilvl + substats better than tome/shisui gear
and assuming that a tank or healer have issues despite being fully decked out in tome/shisui/crafted gear, it's definitely not a gear issue but a skill one
then again, people have issues with that dungeon even when they were in shb gear, so yeah, it's definitely not a gear issue lmao
shame that the stat squish made it completely faceroll tier as well

Jesus. They can literally spell things out in the live letter repeatedly for what felt like an hour long segment and people can still be like "why my nums lower!?". Literally only the numbers changed, everything else should be right proportional.

It's called integer overflow, a major problem that could occur on the backend if numbers got too large. They had to do it.

Eh, I did a Paglth'an recently and noticed things were dying a LOT slower than they used to.

Same with various Ranked mobs (B, A, S). I could one shot a lvl 50 B rank at lvl 80 and now it takes 2-4 hits.

Some numbers are wonky but we'll never know because SE is very stingy giving data out.

Numbers matter a bit due to they way they've scaled certain things.

2.0 content gives 300% Epic Echo
3.0 gives 200%
4.0 gives 100%
5.0 gives 60%

Problem with that is if I had 100K HP and damage accordingly at the end of 5.X series it wouldn't matter if I was in Coils, Alexander, or Tsuyu etc etc. I'd still have the same HP / damage.

And like I said before, if no one figured out the exact HP value of every boss before Endwalker, we don't know how we rank proportionately anymore because SE won't tell us what's under the hood.

Stat squish is a good thing. Number bloat causes a whole different degree of scaling problems with games when they get too big. If you want a good example of one such issue look at Borderlands 2 and the amount of the game's item drops and character skills that became essentially useless long before reaching endgame because they basically stopped being effective when the numbers the game used got too big.

LOL...I wouldn't get mad at your response. You just sharing how u feel & your point of view, nothing wrong with that. I know SE had to do the stat squish. Just to me, it sucks to have my hp knock from 120k - 43k at level 90 & as an RDM to see my numbers from dpsing in ShB to EW go down considerably. I guess I am just still in the frame of mind that my level 90 should have a high hp number & do bigger number damage.
