Yes Chakrams is their primary motifs, however it would have been fantastic to get more throwing weapons such as kunai, shuriken, boomerangs and fans to spice things up.

It finally looked like they were starting to spice things up with the 90 artefact set that actually comes with a fanned throwing knife, but we are right back to 99 shades of dinner plate.

Rob Ninja for their Fuma Shurikens, they don't need em anymore.

The problem is the way the hands are when holding weapons is static and the animations show circular glowing discs.

They initially said DNC would get boomerangs when it was first revealed at fanfest.
But I imagine the issue is the way they're held, sort of dangling from a loose grip, wouldn't really work unless the boomerangs had a handle or something.

The "thrown chakrams are a glowing disk" shouldn't be an issue, anything is going to look like a disk when it's spinning at such a high rpm.

Except that is a non-issue as seen with the Terpsichore (dagger/fan) and even a lot of the circular weapons. They aren't spinning outside of throws. All that is needed is a hole to hold the finger in.

Thinking about it, I think Monks get the most diversity in the game in regards to weapons. Of course there's punchy things but there's claws, tonfas, even extendable hand-swords.

Would be neat to see every class have that level of diversity. Sure an axe is great but how about a greathammer? That'd be neat too.

As for Dancers, I'm not seeing too much reason as to why they can't throw different things. Just have the weapon held in a way that matches the idle animation: Multiple throwing knives in hand, handle for a boomerang, etc.

Pretty sure the new WAR raid weapon is a big ol' hammer.

kunai and shuriken can stay on ninja, keep that s-word away from dancer.

hammers and different mnk weapons work because they dont make the animation look weird. you only have to look as far as eddas scythe on dragoon to see an example of a cool weapon type not quite looking right.

if they could make weapons that work right for dnc im all for it though, dont misunderstand.

Every weapon this raid is great...except dragoon. It's just a big fork. Guess it's what they get for having the tome set.

Paladins had a... Paddle looking thing in ARR lol.

Honestly, I would love to switch weapon types between roles, and yes, I know it's unrealistic and they wouldn't put in this sort of effort for customization options, but using a Zweihander as Paladin, Axe as DRK or Sword and Shield as WAR would be really cool. I think GNB is the only one in the tank role that would have to remain exclusive.

That was a macuahuitl, which was the Mesoamerican equivalent of a sword. Basically a club edged with sharp pieces of obsidian but still close enough to a sword.

In 1.0 and very early ARR, PLD branched out more and had access to daggers before they became a NIN weapon. But FFXIV was built around weapon types determining classes from 1.0 and except for things like giant iron clubs for DRK and hammers for WAR, there hasn't been much wiggle room and with how much SE cuts for time I don't see them changing combat stances and animations to allow for weapon variety.

Not really. Throwing knives/kunai wouldn't take or at least have to take anything from Ninjas. They would look slightly different, be held different and be used in different animations.

Dancers need fans, ribbons, and knife shoes for weapons.

I actually would love some kind of boomerangs. Even if they had to have a handle of some sort due to the battle pose and what not.

Didn't they mention, during DNC inception, that they would be looking for more diverse throwing weapons?

Dancers really deserve actual bladed fans. We have just about 4 weapons that deviate from the "pizza silhouette" and they are the level 90 relic looking like a retractable knife, Cryptlurker that looks like a sickle, the Deepshadow that looks like a shuriken and the Fae weapon that looks like... some faerie decoration lol. Everything else looks like the same silhouette.

I hope the Senor Sabotender weapon is actually the Cactuar shuriken that Yuffie uses on her FF7 Remake integrade DLC:

Now come to think of it, I also wish they would step more outside of their boxes for SMN/SCH weapons too. It's ALWAYSa book. Why can't it be something like an actual tablet or a scroll floating off a book's open cover?
