What additional character options could be added with "new faces"?

With the addition of the long-awaited "Midlander stubble" face, and Hrothgar faces before that, the devs have taken the route of adding multiple copies of the same face but with one key element changed.

So what else could potentially be added with the same approach?

A choice of horns for Au Ra seems like the most obvious request that could be fulfilled this way.

It could also allow for a wider choice of things like racial tattoos that are very limited per face.

Edit to be clear: I'm not calling for a "list everything you wish they'd add to the creator". Think within the scope of the current character template and what option they could swap out for a different equal option, or what permanent part of the face (eg. horns) could be changed for a different permanent part.

An overhaul of the character creator in general is probably the only way we're ever going to get better customization. BUt that wont happen until we get a core engine upgrade sadly.

Butt and "Package" sliders.

I don't expect that to happen either - but that's my point. The devs worked around that restriction by adding a new Midlander face with the stubble pre-attached, and worked around not having enough customisation options for Hrothgar by adding two versions of each face with different hairstyles attached.

So my question is, what other things would people like to see addressed this way? The scope of it is limited of course, but it's a thing they have done already and therefore could potentially do for other races and features.

That's not a face setting. That would involve adding an entirely new race with different sliders and gear models.

This question has stumped me.. it’s that typical thing where someone asks you what your favourite music is and suddenly you can’t think of anything. I feel the Au’Ra could benefit the most out of this

I’d like the Au’ra to have the option of glowing eyes with the choice of colour, more intimidating and creepy options so the race could have a range of cutesy like we have now to more fierce and beast-like

Just give me more beard options. Actual beards, not just stubble (which I think is a fine addition, btw). A full beard on a character that doesn't look like a surly old man lol

Honestly I just want updated textures for faces that are behind.
My favorite Highlander face for example is very low res in comparison to the rest, and new races look very obviously better.
Some faces just need help and look like they were rushed for NPC's and then just thrown in there into the creator.

I'd like a cheek shadowing option. High cheekbones into slightly sunken cheeks, aka "fine features" is visible on fair-skinned Elezen, but doesn't show on darker-skinned ones, like my grey-skinned Duskwight. He looks full-faced when I chose the options to give him well defined cheekbones and jaw.

I actually think unlinking the Au Ra face and horns would be amazing. I love the horns that are tied to the.....old face and I can’t bring myself to use that face just for the horns.

Different horns/scale patterns on the Au Ra heads would probably be the easiest with this style of implementation. I'd like the older races to have nicer facial textures like Viera but I think it would be jarring if theres 4 older style heads and then 1 thats hd lol

That's the thing - I don't think it's technically possible for them to unlink the two. But it would be technically possible for them to add a second copy of each face with different horns attached to the second copy of the face. You still wouldn't have free choice of all of them (unless they can add three extra copies of everything) but it would give you an option outside of the current ones without having to redesign anything about the template.

Viera beards definitely needed more work.

It's an inelegant solution but I guess they decided it made more sense to add faces than to rework the system. If they really want to continue down that road the right thing to do would be to duplicate all the male faces of most races with stubble variations.

For me personally I want more scar options, especially for female character. It would also be nice to have fangs on my Sun Seeker. As someone mentioned another obvious option is Au Ra horns/face combinations. I mean let's just give everyone 50-100 face options rather than put in the effort to make a better system. :D

Feels like the player customizations are optimized down to bit size...

This for sure. I love my elezen so much - but after swapping to male viera for fun, it's painfully apparent how much higher quality the new races are. The eyes, noses, even eyebrows all have much better detail and texture :( I really hope they focus on upgrading the old races next.
