Edit: Lmao, I forgot to add Magitek to my title!
What I meant to ask is "If we get a pure Magitek Garlean class..."
What would you want it to be?
For myself, it'd be either Gaius' gunblade and overall fighting style or Nero's gunhammer.

A jobclass representing Rihtahtyn sas Arvina from Cape Westwind. The guy using 2 shields.
Didn't we just get Reaper?
I would love a giant hammer, or some kind of explosives user.
We have the Reaper. It is explicitly stated as having been invented by the Garleans' ancestors.
UPDATE after OP clarified to mean Magitek:
I would like to see a Commando (CMD), armed with an assault cannon or machine gun, kind of a cross between Laguna from FF8, the Republic Commando job from SWTOR, and modern real-world special forces. They could wear Scouting gear, like the rogue/ninja.
I'd rather just get the third eye as a glamour item and call it a day. Besides, as others have said, we already have Reaper.
How about a class that lets you pilot a small magitek vehicle? Like a mecha or those tiny 1 man helicopters the Garleans sometimes used?
It's a shame that you can't wield Regula's huge gunblade. That being said, it would be cool if Gunbreakers could summon that Ceruleum lion that Regula had.
garlean engineer with a gunhammer and power armor.
Machinist should have been Garlean without the aether lunchbox.
But sadly that ship has sailed.
A Physical Ranged Rocket Launcher job.
Mages have Smn as their "Magic dealer with stupid mobility and Phy Ranged DPS", this job would be the "Non-mobile Physical ranged that does caster level DPS".
The turret Physical Ranged if you will, like BLM.
Makes sense that they would have the strongest Physical Ranged job, given the lore and their tech.
IMO I'd rather they do another Monster Hunter Crossover that added jobs based on weapons from that game when looking for a job that played that way. Heavy Bowgun would fit this role as it was less mobile than Light Bowgun and Bow but had access to artillery shells and more potent specials while being a bit less squishy. They could give us a Gunlance as a tank job while they were at it so we have a tank that can launch itself at a monster like a missile using blast dash. But that's probably more work than they'd want to put into a crossover. However I've seen stranger things in other titles.
I’d want a magitek pet job.
Put out magitek bits and they’ll stay in place firing at whatever you have targeted. Put out small magitek pillars that emit an AoE field that buffs the party or debuffs enemies. Put out a giant “Boilmaster” coffeemaker that for some ungodly reason is the size of a refrigerator and equipped with flamethrowers.
Job gauge could be ceruleum that you would spend to put the various magitek devices out.
Yeah, it’s basically recreating pre-Endwalker summoner and then doubling down on it, at least to some extent, so it’ll never happen.
Still…
It pretty much is. It's inspired by Garlean tech, reverse engineered by Ishgardians.
And all of these other gunner/grenade launcher ideas are covered by MCH too.
The only open niche for more magitek now is a melee job, so I'd go for Nero's gunhammer. But that would be a maiming job and we need scouting next.
My biggest issue with machinist is that it's basically a gunner with very little in terms of machines. I mean yeah you have your turret/robot but 99% of the time you are doing your gun fu and shooting guns. More robots/mechs/inventions please.
I've seen plenty of people complain about the exact opposite, that MCH is too much machines and not enough guns. So I'm going to chalk it up to personal taste.
It has a flamethrower, drill and chain cannons, bioblaster, circular saws, whatever wildfire is (sticky bomb?) and a freakin robot.
Then it has three handgun weaponskills, a shotgun skill, and two ogcds that are debatable whether or not they're gun related or machinery.
I'd say it's pretty balanced between the two myself.
It's very similar to the "Bard vs Ranger" problem where they merged two concepts (in this case Machinist and Gunslinger) so they have two audiences they need to cater to that have competing desires.
I'm one of those that wants a gunner more than a Machinist, so the drill cannon / air anchor what-have-you doesn't do much for me. But the shotgun? Mmm. I love it. I'd be in pure joy if they brought the ammo mechanic back (or some mechanic having to do with tracking ammunition and the benefits it gives with reloads and etc as part of the kit, then again I'm one of the crazies who liked StB MCH) and honed in on the Gunslinger aspects, but as is that would leave people who like the Machinist aspects of...well, Machinist, out in the cold.
A Black Rose wielder. One throw to end the fight for both sides. Permanently delete your characters.
I've been begging for him as a Job for us since ARR lol.
Magitek jobs in general would be fun. Can easily explain why we would use Magitek when we have Aether as something sort of similar to Thancred and player Gunblades in general.
Thancred can be a Gunbreaker because he gets ammo from elsewhere.
We as Gunbreakers make our own ammo.
We would just be taking Magitek and fueling it with our own Aether in place of Ceruleum and prefabricated ammo.
Reaper being not only a Garlean job but a Garlean job with a Soulcrystal leaves the door wide open for us to get the Magitek jobs from those notable Garlean characters.
Mild retcon to have them quietly carrying Soulcrystals that we end up in possession of.
Why would current content drop Magitek weapons? Canonize it as the Ironworks as helping the WoL make gear for them to adventure with.
give us Judge using the trappings of a garlean legatus. Big hammer, latin sounding abilities, garlean armor
(experimental jobstone made by nero would justify the hammer)
Garleans can’t use magic. So we can’t have these thing I’m afraid. However someone did point out that we got reaper which I believe it’s a garleans role
An interesting idea! While we’re at it, give us the gunblade and armours please. :)
Gunbreaker says hi.
If you deal with any Garlean minions at all you will notice they have the Gunbreaker's weapon.
Now if you are talking about Livia's weapons, I am down for that.
Reaper and Gunbreaker not Garleon enough? :D
Grynewaht pyr Arvina's chainsaw and Nero's meat tenderiser could be fun. Maybe the class can be Butcher (BCH)
But really I wonder if Gaius' gunblade and Livia's pistol gloves should belong to the GNB. Livia's gloves could be an awesome tanking weapon if they animated double barrel work.
Edit: Hmmm, Grynewaht's chainsaw has a gun too... so that should go to GNB as well.
Gunbreakers do not use Garlean gunblades. Garleans have swords (and shields, lances, fists) that are also guns. Gunbreaker blades are straight from FFVIII and don’t have a barrel or bullets. The trigger activates an aether-charged cartridge loaded in the gun that does a magic effect or rumbles the blade. It’s also evident they’re different weapons entirely when you use your ranged attack to swing lightning at the enemy instead of shooting a bullet.
Considering Yoshi-P made fun of Garlean weapons in an interview and called them “bayonets”, I don’t think a job that uses them is likely. He said the only reason they exist is because he wasn’t involved with 1.0.
An opinion from ages past, but since the Garleans can't use magic, specially after Endwalker it could be reasonable to have a non-magic based healer in the form of Chemist... They probably would've had some kind of medics in their armies for when they didn't have other races to use healing magic for them.
Funnily enough I posted a full Chemist concept about a year ago and a lot of it ended up in Sage, like Eukrasia (which would have been mixing potions to get different healing skills, though mine was more along the lines of old AST being able to do anything, inagine two different Eukrasia skills, ones adds a regen and the other adds a shield)
So Sage could very easily have been Chemist.
Frankly I'm happy with what we got. There are some magitek nouliths from vendors and tower of Babil, just imagine that the lasers are magiTEK rather than magiCAL.
The name you're looking for is Engineer, Garlean Engineer Tank.

Are machinists using Magitek?
According to the encyclopedia, machinists use a combination of Garlean magitek and Ishgardian craftsmanship adapted for use for people who can manipulate aether. The aetherotransformer (lunchbox) converts the user's aether to be used for powering the machines they use as well as to power and enhance their guns. Without the ability to use aether, they'd just be "some guy with a gun".
