SE needs to implement queues for zones / instances

Other than the queues to get into the game and actually play it, it is almost impossible to do any sort of hunts these days. Every single time an S rank or world-boss FATE gets called via Discord or a CWLS, I cannot get into the proper instance on my own server/world despite trying 50+ times at the aetheryte to get in. And if you fail to get in, you have to repeat the entire process of re-clicking on the dumb thing and going through the entire menu again. It's just like queues when Endwalker first dropped where if you got 2002'ed, you had to start the login process all over again. By the time it finally lets me it a zone, it's almost always because people have started leaving the zone because the mark is already dead.

SE, fix your crappy game that is unable to handle even 150 people being in the same zone at once. Make a queue for zones/instances instead of just kicking players back and making them try to spam to get in. This is almost as ridiculous and stupid as your crappy housing system where players had to sit there and click on a placard for hours on end hoping they'd click on it at just the right time.

Alright, now I'm ready for all the white knights to come defend this crappy game - please proceed!

Funny I was just in a CHI instance with 600 people...You know you could just get into a party instead of doing Hunts solo. It literally bypasses the Instance Congestion in favor of getting all party members together.

So yeah it's probably a you problem.

Try joining a party via Party Finder. Good luck adventuring!

That was nuts. There were so many people on the platform the game would only render a fraction of them at a time. I did end up getting my mount though :)

I'll throw in a bonus "hunts aren't meant for the whole server to show up for the kill." If you're not helping spawn an S rank (I'm just assuming there's still work to spawning those...) then you really can't complain about not participating.

I mean work is a relative statement, as someone who used to spawn S-Ranks on the reg back on the day, because spawn triggers vary so wildly.

Some are super simple (like discard a rail tenderloin anywhere in Lakeland for a chance to pop Tyger) or even entirely automatic (like Croakadile or Laideronnette).

Others border on the utterly obnoxious (like the number of mobs needed to be killed for Ixtab, or the two maps based S-ranks where you're not even guaranteed a spawn even if the window is past maximum - I still remember the one night I emptied half of Primal's servers' market boards of Peisteskin maps in an attempt to spawn Agrippa who'd passed his max window, and yet still was not successful).

But yes, much as we want to be as inclusive as possible with hunts, sadly it looks like going forward it's just going to be a scramble to get a piece of the pie due to inherent limitations of the system. Not really much SE can even do for it either in terms of raising limits, unless you like the idea of going back to the bad old MMO days like Lich King era Dalaran where you needed a high end PC to even move at a reasonable rate while in a large crowd such as things like cities, available housing, and hunts are going to attract.

To be fair a zone queue would be a nice thing though, especially for newbies and casuals who are just trying to do MSQ or some casual gathering and may not participate in or even be aware of hunt culture and then all of a sudden get told out of the blue that they can't enter the zone they were planning on visiting :)

A queue isn't going to put you into any better position. Things are still going to be dead before you get in because the content was never designed to have so many players in attendance.

We go through this the start of every expansion. I don't understand why anyone is expecting it to be different this time around, especially considering world populations are at unprecedented highs.

The crowds will thin out a couple of weeks after Savage is released and raiders are no longer relying on pentamelded crafted gear made with tomestone materials. Be patient. If you want to farm your tomestones and materia before then (not like Nuts are good for anything other than materia right now), chain run Expert dungeons.

While all the cons are true as well... yeah i dont see why this isnt a thing... im sick of not entering a zone bc of that, even if im there literally the second it was posted and just had back luck with where my teleport got me...

I wouldn't call it a "you problem". I don't like her comments about the game being crappy, but not getting into a zone to do hunts is a valid thing to be unhappy about. It's a basic feature that should be easier for all players to participate in.

Sorry but this isn't really an issue. If you get into a party, you can get into the instance if even 1 person is in there. If you trying to solo hunts and having a bad time, using your brain alittle is free.

Your suggested solution doesn't work at all. People throw up parties even if they aren't in the right zone/instance, and you have no way of telling until you join up (and even then you can't really tell - all you can ascertain is whether they're in the same zone as you are). So "duh huh huh uhh just join a party" is a really, really dumb suggestion. Also, who does hunts solo? You would only get tag credit and would not get any meaningful amount of tomes, nuts, etc. Of course we're doing it in a party. I really don't know how a queue system for entering zones would possibly be a bad thing (especially when the alternative is to have to sit at an aetheryte trying to click through the multi-step process of getting to the right instance a million times hoping that it'll let you in).

Iunno, I zoned into the final zone when it had over 500 people in it without a single "zone is full" message. Clearly they've upgraded the systems over the years. In stormblood, they could barely handle 2-300.

Which mount is that?

Instances are there to alleviate large crowds in a single zone. Implementing queues for hunt trains and world fate camping go completely against that lmao

Wait, what? How would implementing queues for zones/instances go against that? It would not change the fact that when hunt trains and world FATEs are going on, those zones often become congested to the point where you cannot enter (this has happened each time new content comes out regardless of whether each zone has 1 instance or 3 instances). All I'm saying is that it is really, really dumb that there is not a system in place for zones/instances like when you walk up to the aetheryte in one of the main city states to hop over to another world. You hop in a queue and wait your turn. Instead, we have the current mess where you can be locked out of a zone/instance regardless of your purpose of being there and you have to sit there and repeatedly click on the aetheryte to try to get through. Why can't you just tell it once that you want to go and then wait instead of having to spam click it? This was a huge issue with the housing situation up until this point because it all came down to whoever got lucky and happened to click at the right time; they're doing away with that system because it was dumb and wasted everyone's time by forcing them to sit there and repeatedly click while praying to RNGesus. You should be able to click on something just once and tell it that you want to go through - it's like forming a line to get in instead of everyone just mob rushing the gates. I cannot fathom how this would be a bad thing.

The goal of instances is not to give you 3 times the hunt marks to kill in a wave- its the opposite. You aren't supposed to suddenly cram 300-600 people in a single instance and then collectively move to another, queue or no. Their implementation is literally there to prevent that. Instances now hold over 600 people when folks are not surging in. If 1 is full you get put in 2 or 3. It doensn't care is Chi or an S rank is up, its not supposed to, its supposed to spread people out. You are locked out and the congested error pops up on your screen because the system has registered that its congested and you should not be there, please play on the instance it put you on.

Getting more chances to rack up marks/tomes/nuts/tokens/fates etc is a sweet bonus for those of us who know to take advantage of the system but it is not their intended function.

Weird. I've been doing hunt trains where half of the party is already at the next A rank and the other half is still clicking the aetheryte.

The game has no idea what you are doing in any particular zone at any particular time. If you are going solo, obviously the game will put you into a zone without congestion. If you were in a party, the game tries to keep your party together, so if your leader is there ahead of the pack, you most likely get in. Obviously actual results may vary…

There really isn’t anything more that can be done because as you said, assuming a zone queue existed, by the time it pops for you the mob is already dead.

Moreover, this will not be a problem in a month or so when the “gotta have it now” crowd have already gotten whatever it is they want and hunts die down significantly.

If you can only describe the game as crappy stop playing it. Game has issues for sure and feedback is good. Clicking to move instance a few times it not the end of the world, or do like I do and wake early for the slower early morning hunt trains :)
Even in Shb at the start of the expansion the hunt trains were always congested. It always settles down a few weeks in, wait or suffer the congestion like everyone else.

Wow, what a helpful suggestion. I’m glad that none of us have jobs that require us to wake up early and immediately get ready to head out the door and go to work and thus prevent us from playing anytime before the evenings when it’s most congested.

In any event, the congestion doesn’t really ever completely die down. Throughout the entirety of ShB there were often issues of getting into zones when S ranks were called out due to the emergence of prominent Discord and CWLS hunt groups.

This issue actually becomes much more prominent when the hype “dies down” and SE does away with multiple instances per zone. When that happens, you often become unable to even enter a given zone whatsoever during S rank callouts or crowded trains (as opposed to being dumped into a random instance in the given zone and then having to try to change instances at the aetheryte). The current system makes it to where you have to spam cast teleport to that zone if you don’t get in, and instead of checking prior to you casting teleport, it checks only after you have spent 5 seconds casting it and then makes you rinse and repeat if you don’t get in. As I’ve been saying, this is dumb and extremely annoying. Just let players cast teleport once and then toss them into a queue like world hopping (which they can back out of if they want) instead of making them spam cast teleport.

You are not guaranteed to get in even in a party.
So I would rather not have that misinformation spread.
Sometimes I managed to switch instance without issues and sometimes not, that's it.

Participating in the NM FATE "Omicron Recall: Killing Order" and killing the boss "Chi" you will receive a number of Chi Bolts as a reward, depending on your FATE score (Gold rating = 6 bolts).

I'd rather the focus on improving PS4 performance or at least add an option to hide x amount of players so i acually have a chance at doing these hunts without dying in 2 seconds because i can't see what's going on.

It's not just a them problem. Right now our server's regular hunt trains are taking long breaks with every zone transition because it takes upwards of 5 minutes just for everyone to be able to zone in, because they're either getting stuck unable to teleport into the right zone or getting stuck at aetherytes trying to change instances. It's unfortunate but expected, and imo the only really annoying part is needing to click over and over and over to try to get in.

Personally I'd be in favor of them swapping it over to a queue vs spam clicking purely because it'd be less annoying - just one click and then wait. Assuming it's a less broken queue system than the one to actually log in has been over the last few weeks of course :P

Edit to add the important note that when I say hunt trains, I mean multiple full parties worth of people waiting a few minutes to make sure their whole party is actually able to zone in before the train continues.

Tbh no due to timers on fates, on gathering points and in some cases sight seeing. Not counting hunts would be gone by the time people got in

Hunts are a stupid system anyways.

This seems inaccurate. I've been in hunt trains throughout this week.

Even with party members in the instance, congestion has prevented me and other members from getting in.

There is no reason for them to do that. Why waste development on creating extra support for a system that is going to be dropped from support eventually. They'll instead put resources on improving support for the PS5 as I can see support for PS4 being dropped either with the next expac or the expac after.

As for the topic on hand, a queue system into the instanced zones won't help you at all. With the rampant early pulling by the time you get in it will be dead, and you will be right back here complaining about how you were forced to wait in a queue to get into an instance with a hunt mob/boss fates. At this point there is nothing they can do. The instances exist to prevent the servers from overloading and crashing and improve performance. By locking players out of a congested instance the feature is working as intended. The fact that the players are abusing the instances to get extra hunts and FATE kills is the problem, and there isn't much that can be done about it because people will continue to abuse it and short of adding more servers, which they can't do despite wanting to, there isn't anything SE can really do about it.

so my last 2 chi kills I was just hallucinating 300+ people camping with me for 11 hours (per kill) Damn my imagination OP
