An Idea for SCH and SGE : Regarding Gauges

Hello, Fellow Warriors Of Eorzea,

I come to you today with an idea that I have come up with regarding Sage and Scholar.

Scholar: Dissipation

what if SCH Dissipation worked like this
Dissipation Still grants the same buff and three aetherflow, but instead of taking your Faerie away, it costs 100 Fae Gauge. This would only lock an SCH out of Fae Union for a brief moment till more gauge is obtained, and grant more uses for the Fae Gauge other than one Faerie ability. We can say that Eos/Selene give us some aether or something. This, I feel would negate some of the issues surrounding the ability.

Sage: Adder's Sting and Toxicon

Some suggestions I have seen for sage have to do with Rhizomata. Most of the suggestions being a tool to acquire an adder's sting instead of a gall. This I would fully support, but I have another approach to it. I think another way to go about it would be to make Rhizomata convert 1 adder's gall to an adder's sting. This would provide some cost to gaining an adder's sting alongside breaking a Eukrasian Diagnosis. This would give us an oGCD way to gain adder's stings in battle that do not need a Eukrasian Diagnosis, and cost a SGE if used incorrectly.
I would also note that I think if we were to convert an adder's gall to a sting, it would still restore some MP, this giving a pseudo method of using a gall for DMG much like a SCH can use Aetherflow for DMG

Speaking personally, just from the way I play, I'd rather have the extra addersgall available on demand. To me that's far more valuable an useful than an addersting that can be generated any time I'm willing to spend a GCD, let alone burning a much more valuable addersgall to get it.

100% agree, we have no need for this stack, there is usually nothing to use it on based on cool-downs

Keep damage reduction up on the tank so you can DPS more. That's one very good use of addersgall. And avoid GCD heals if that isn't enough.

And... I think introducing something "energy drain"-like for sage is a bad idea. Any time there's competition between resources for healing and DPS, people will want to spend it all on DPS. And then complain if SE makes it weak to lessen the pressure to use it on DPS/bad feeling when you have to use it for heals. All these things we've got through with, with energy drain.

On the matter of SCH, i think if Dissipation should be changed, then in a way, where it isnt tied to Healing at all. Instead, it should give SCH either 50% Haste or straight up Instant casts for the duration.

Fully agree. Addersgall are much more useful than Addersting.

I wouldn't be averse to the button generating one of *both* though.

But even then, Toxikon is mostly just a handy mobility button boss fights that we can generate at will whenever a Tank buster is coming. Need a Sting? Just E-Diag the Buster, boom Sting charge for the upcoming movement phase. lol

Yes please. I’d love to have faerie wings on scholar :) would be so adorable.

Sage stops generating resources when it hits 3 Addersgall and I always thought the Guage should continue to build but in a red color and generate Addersting instead. If you use an Addersgall skill the bar would turn blue again and generate healing resources like we have now. That way we aren't completely reliant on a shield breaking for Toxicon. The red Guage could even build slower to be balanced. Say 30 seconds instead of 20 for an Addersting. It would be nice.

As far as Dissipation, it takes 4 minutes to get a full Fey Guage and I normally need the skill for the first large pull in dungeons when I don't have any healthy amount of Guage for Fey Union. Trading Fey Union for Dissipation would also really cripple my healing rotation as I often get max healing value out of both. Unless this Dissipation change came with some hefty potency adjustments it would just be a huge nerf in my opinion.

SGE needs a Addersgall dump period. Doesn't have to be a DPS skill (I'd rather it wasn't)- Having your MP sustain tied to healing tools is too situational. I've had many times when I'm staying capped on Addersgall because there is nothing to heal (And Kardia is enough to keep tank healed, plus Physis, Holos or Soteria)

Maybe an addersgall button that simply restores 800MP would be nice.

As much as SGE holds onto Addersgall a lot, I actually think it's fine as it is currently. I understand that people don't want to overcap on resources, but considering that this resource has NOTHING to do with DPS and is just our healing, we shouldn't be thinking in the way SCH thinks as we oft find ourselves. Funnily enough, though, the tank takes enough damage for me to use many of my Addersgall in EX so I don't run the risk of MP issues. Mostly when I see TBs I just straight up shield it since it'll give me a movement option later on if I'm caught running.

Agreed, Addersgall isn't something we should want to remain uncapped at all times, since it's purely just used for healing and mitigation. I really dislike the idea of Rhizomata consuming an Addersgall to give an Addersting, because Toxicon is NOT worth losing an Addersgall for (technically 2 since this change would also mean no backup on demand Addersgall). It's good for AoE, and for DPSing while moving, but otherwise...

I rather spend my Addersgall maintaining 10% DR on the tank / party, and keeping Rhizomata on hand for when desperation strikes and I need the extra healing cooldown. Doing that generally keeps my MP healthy, too. For purely healing things like this, it's better to have them and not need them than it is to need them but not have them. If it contributed to DPS I would understand the desire to keep these things uncapped to optimise DPS output. But it's purely for healing purposes and I'd rather have the emergency tools than give them up just for another esaily gotten Toxicon charge. Especially since if Sage runs out of cooldowns and Addersgall, all they are left with is a heal equivalent to Cure 1...
