How would you feel if AF were treated as Key Items?

As the title say, how would you feel if the AF gear were treated as "Key Items" for inventory storage?

We have 7 jobs currently, with 5 pieces of armor and 1 weapon (soon to be) for each, totaling 42 inventory spaces. Couple that with Class specific gear (which I don't think should be treated as "Key Items") it really takes it toll on the ability to change class/job anywhere. I would think most people would want to be ready for anything, and thus keep at least one full set of gear for each class/job on their person, whether it's for convenience, or for emergency, say if you're in a dungeon and someone DC's and you now need to reformulate you party to have a chance at continuing successfully (the greatest thing about being able to change anywhere, IMO).

You also have the future possibility's of having higher level gear similar to the AF, such as they did in FFXI, AND the future possibility that they'll add more classes/jobs, both of which just compounding the issue, admittedly though the former is less of an issue since that would be repetitive.

Most games I would say it's unnecessary, since you can't change class/job, but since in FFXIV you can, I think it would be totally understandable to make the AF treated as "Key Items".

Since we get besides jobs also class only gear , we also need all sets of non job classes set as keyitems.
So basicaly u ask that every high level gear in game is to be set as keyitems.
aint gonna happen unless it's special gear like AF or Af/class only gear.
That means that all weapons ifrit / moog etc would also be keyitems :) , since u have for every job/class 3 weapons / ifrit/moog and garuda and soon more with new bosses comming up

You have an armoire to store AF and we will be getting more storage options down the line, as well as the mannequin system removing gear sets out of our inventory while we don't have them equipped.

You really don't need to be carrying around so much gear, and AF is not the best gear available in most cases, anyway. You would be SOL when you got something better.

All you have to do is plan what you are going to do before you actually gear up instead of carrying absolutely everything around.

No, I specifically said Class specific SHOULDN'T be set as key items. Reread or ask if you don't understand something.

It would only be for the Artifact gear, being that the AF gear has a strong thematic tie to the jobs. You get them from the job quests, they are not just forged gear, and they'll later likely be out done by other gear. They're more a long the likes of the Chocobo Whistle and Gobbue Horn.

i would love a gear tab and or a materia tab personally

And most of that gear can be used for multiple jobs, thus not cluttering up our inventories nearly as much. And as I said, most people would like the convenience of being able to be fully equipped when changing class/job, and not held hostage to inventory space.

I never know what i do or end up with ,theres no planning, so basicaly i need everything in inventory , no exceptions.
Then again i hate certain jobs like blm, monk,bard ,drg , and so i dont ever need to carry their gear again since i never use them anyway after reaching lvl 50 and finishing their jobs.
So that makes space for extra gear :)

I very much disagree with the solution of key item gear, but I do agree with the fact that come 2.0, inventory space is going to be a major issue. As the OP said AF alone consumes 42 slots in it's own, now take into consideration AF weapons, you'll have 7 of those... However, if AF weapons are job exclusive that means you also need the 7 weapons for each class in order to switch to the job that can wear the AF weapon (This can be easily avoided if they program it so that upon equipping an AF weapon it automatically swaps you into the job).Then add in all the accessories that you'll need per job, rings, necks, belts, wrists, earrings etc., then assume you have multiple crafting classes to 50, and you keep the tools/gear on you...

Right now the inventory is not really an issue, and I could be wrong in my next statement but to my knowledge if I remember correctly, we're getting much less inventory space and even lower retainer space in 2.0, which sort of concerns me to an extent. I'm sure that there will be enough forms of storage in player estates and such, but the current system was designed so that we would be able to change our role on the spot if needed, and by the looks of things that's looking a little more unreasonable in the coming future due to inventory limitations. But again, this isn't an issue now, and I can't really speak for 2.0 as it's nowhere near completion and still content in development, these are just some things that I am concerned about based on what I've read.

I counted 4.

If AF gear or weapons from NM were key items, how would they be repaired? I don't think SE would go for gear that never needed repairs.

That's an artificial problem. They could code it so that they are treated like key items in the inventory, but can still be repaired/show up in the inventory when equipping gear.

And it wouldn't be for NM weapons, JUST AF.

Or you could just stop hulking around gear for everything under the sun. Considering how quick and easy you can return to your home-town and retainers I don't see the issue with the inventory.

Remember they are eventually going to slash our inventories down to size if the developers are to be held to their word.

we get equip mannequins in 2.0 where 1 set of equip = 1 slot in inventory.

One can always use GC gear for classes/jobs. So you could carry the AF for the jobs you use the most, plus a gc/crafted set for classes/jobs that you don't use often. You won't have the max benefits of having specific gear for each class/job, but do you really need that level of versatility if they are roles you rarely play?
