Literally the title. Since they have so many standard and lower pop servers. That way we can actually play the game without a hours long queue.

Unethical? Absolutely not. Practical? Also absolutely not. But if you feel this is the right decision for you, then I wish you luck.
You want everyone to not only leave their houses and friends behind but also have massive latency?
If it woudnt be so expensiv or they offer it for free on overcrowded servers i would seriously thing about a transfer. Its common use in other mmos to offer free transfers regulary on extrem overcrowded to low pop worlds to help the overall perforfmance and reduce the login ques. I cant see why this shouldnt also be possible here.
If they do manage to pull fresh servers out of their asses, they will likely offer free transfers at that point in time.
If you want to deal with huge latency and pay for the move yourself, then go for it. (Assuming world transfer service gets turned on.) Just know that you'll be back to PS3 era reaction times in most content.
Thank, i start on Ixion, 8 in queue, so nice !!! :D
It also might prompt SE to do more about the issues, given they only seem to respond when JP players get mad. NA/EU might as well not exist feedback wise. So we get the JP players mad and riled up with our presence.
They will never allow that.
The JP playerbase would be furious over it. I met players who are GLAD Oceania players will supposedly leave "their" servers.
And they priorititize what that portion of the fanbase prefers.
Always have been. Since 1.0.
Theres nothing stopping anyone really from moving there. I would warn that outside Tonberry you'll likely be in an extreme minority when it comes to spoken language/strats tho.
As long as you can handle the ping and the lack of English speakers, go for it.
The problem therein would be ping. Having a more or less guaranteed 100-200 MS of lag would be awfully annoying.
Even with poor ping, one could atleast play instead of sitting in queue simulator 2021.
If you don’t mind having 200ms of delay, at minimum, sure.
I play on both NA and JP DCs and got sick of trying to queue into Fairy prime time, so played entirety of EW on Typhon with max 22 in queue, if there even was one. Honestly can't tell difference in latency between NA and JP, but then again I play PLD, but also had no issue with any of the trials. If you can do it, I'd suggest it (caveat is I'm Japanese so the language thing isn't a big deal - bonus also is no wipes at all on any trials hehe).
If you just wanna see the MSQ and are rolling in money could even just boost a job and story skip right to EW.
It's a good idea. It's also something I did recently, as the queues are in the low teens all the time, NA night time being low teens.
I play with more latency than that into NA every normal day. It's not really an issue outside a few badly timed telegraphs, but those can be learnt.
PR nightmare? They don't have to address this and they won't.
The fact most Japanese players aren't comfortable with people who don't speak Japanese/have higher ping is well known by players around the globe anyway.
Mogstation would appreciate people forking 50+ usd out of desperation to do the EW MSQ in an alt during this.
It's 'en masse'; its origin is French... not "on mass".
These 'revenge' threads are lame; I'll pick on grammar and spelling.
So, yeah, (sing along) "...the more you know!"
Thats kind of..mean, when you think about it. We've done well and have tried to get along with everyone. :(:(Quote:

While not unethical, it will ruin the servers' culture and disrupt the community. Yes, I'm saying it straight up. This isn't Just Another NA/EU server, it's an entirely different DC for people of an entirely different culture. It's one thing for new NA or EU players to roll on an NA or EU server; the cultural differences are minor, if existent at all. RL Japanese culture is *very* different than NA or EU and the mass-migration of NA/EU players who have no clue as to how it works and how to successfully navigate it will be disruptive in the extreme.
I was there at WoW Classic launch, rolled on the RP server because I like to RP, and all the snotrockets re-rolled there since the queues were smaller. Suddenly, the queues were equal to any of the others and what had been a nice RP server turned into a toxic cesspool. It was absolutely horrendous, no exaggeration. The same thing will happen when people who don't understand or care about the culture of JP servers transfer en-masse. The queues won't be any better than NA/EU since thousands more people will be trying to get in and you'll have ruined the cultures of the various servers, ruining the enjoyment of players there who are there *specifically for that sort of server culture*.
I've seen the culture of Atomos shift over the past year, not for the better, as more and more people come to the game. Are all of these people jerks? In no way. However, even though jerks are in the minority, the sheer volume of people coming in means an equally high number of jerks coming in and disrupting the community.
Please stay the hell away from JP servers. As satisfying as it may be to be able to play in the short term, it will only cause problems in the long run.
If your looking to just play through endwalker itself then yeah it would work to use a JP data center, but for anything content wise it would be impractical like raids and such as the latency would be significant.
I say go for it if you want.
No region's experience or server culture is more valuable than others. The proposition of a mass transfer from one region to another will take away from the server cultures and players' experiences on the JP data centers. The fundamental premise behind the question of "Why is their server culture and experience worth more than ours?" is one of "My experience is so bad right now that it's ok for me to negatively impact other players' experience" while at the same time decrying the idea that one region is supposedly getting preferential treatment, which is supposedly the cause of your current negative experiences.
It's not ok to say that it's ok for Party A to negatively impact Party B's experiences because Party A is having a bad experience due to perceived preferential treatment of Party B.
I am a NA player who has been playing on a JP server for more than a year. I remain respectful of and polite to others. Research fights before entering dungeons so that I can do my best in my role. Limit my Dungeon finder queue to English Language. Otherwise I mind my own business and do my thing. I have NO problems.
Not all of us are the stereotypical Americans.
Why does JP have three datacenters, and have had three far longer than NA? What of EU, whose languishing datacenter have been inadequate for years? Also what is wrong in transferring their in order to play the game one has bought and is subscribing to? SE has showed time and time again the only way to actually get a problem solved is to anger the only segment of the playerbase they listen to. Ere go, what's wrong with using that option at our disposal?
As am I. I did say that not all non-JP players on the JP data centers are jerks. I've been on Atomos since I started in 2014 and have had a very pleasant time there on the whole. I would argue that in the past, most non-JP rolling on a JP server either did so because they're in Asia or Oceania, or live/have lived in Japan at some point. This is been my experience for the great majority of my time in the game though it's started changing over the past year.
I live in the US and chose to play on a JP server for two primary reasons:
1- I had recently moved back to the US from Japan and after adjusting to the social norms there could no longer accept some of the behaviors that are considered the norm on NA servers. My outlook on social interaction had changed enough that a JP server was best for me.
2- I was hoping to encourage my Japanese wife to play with me so being on a server in her native language was the best option.
What I'm not, is someone who is dissatisfied with my current experience thinking it's ok to cause other people problems because I'm having problems and see myself as hard done by compared to them. That's the entire premise of my disagreement. I believe every players' enjoyment of the game is of equal value, but I strongly disagree with the premise that it's ok to improve some people's experiences at the cost of other peoples'. Doing so is selfish and short-sighted, for the reasons I stated regarding WoW Classic.
1. The Japanese DC has to handle every player outside of Europe and the Americas. That's all of East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, Middle East, and Africa.
2. SE projected a greater non-NA and non-EU population at the start so they implemented more data centers and servers in Japan.
3. Because SE didn't increase the number of Data Centers and/or servers in the NA and EU regions much between launch and now.
4. Reading between the lines of your question: Why are the NA/EU Data Centers having such issues now compared to the JP ones? Because the NA and EU populations exploded in a completely unexpected way at a time when the company was hindered in their ability to respond appropriately.
By all means, come over here.
Just don't be surprised if people don't go wall-to-wall or disband after 3 wipes.
We play differently here.
JP Datacenters taking care of Japan, Korea (some Koreans play on JP), China (some of them too, play on JP), Taiwan, and all south East Asia plus Australia and New Zeland
The landmass these 3 datacenter covered is not on same scale
Most of these Asian cultures shared same origin as China (yes, a lot of JP cultures related to ancient Chinese) so they have easier time co-exist with each other.
On other hand, you can said it is stereotyping, most of western cultures has altitudes of they are the master race.
Instead of co-exist with other cultures, they demanding others to follow them, even at a foreign land.
This is why Australia want their own datacenter because the culture conflict between JP is horriable.
yet we all played toguether on FFXI servers w/o issues (almost), i had tons of JP parties back then , JP players usually prefer to play with other JP players (JP ONRY meme) and theey are free to do so.
But Server culture and disruption? oh come on...the content that matters is on PF where u can choose who can join or kick if needed.
on EU we play from tons of countries.... EN FR DE ES PT IT to name a few...i have been in all kind of parties hell i killed trial 1 with a FR party 0 issues ppl usually talk on english , mechanics are easyly explained wth translator if needed (thats how we managed in FFXI auto translator is awesome :D )
Oh, we do have culture conflict in FF11 it is just JP side will not confront NA side openly
It is like a pile of shit inside a well decorate Christmas gift wrap.
JP do have a blacklist of NA players that should not be group with in their site.
A lot NA players knew about this list and it is what kept NA players in check because NA players do wants to get into JP exp party.
