Rapid Synthesis is broken

Why do I only get 9-10% if successful?

It only works 10% of the time.. This used to be 30% which was worth the risk.

I also noticed that more and more when using HQ materials when doing normal synthesis failure can result in 1% progress this is just absurd.

It's like we are being punished for trying to get HQ items

You really don't even want to touch Rapid Synthesis unless you have an ability active that will guarantee success...

there are ability changes that kind of render rapid moot. im pretty sure in 2.0 rapid will no longer exist.

Towards the end of any HQ attempt I would always use perfect > rapid which would give me the last 30% now i Need to make sure I have 91% progress to finish the synth,

Is not broken, thats how it works now just need to embrace it

Stack it with greater calling, better than one of the 30% abilities

Go for quality instead. More EXP.

Use stuff like Determination + Standard Synth or Culmination + Rapid. It seems better to me personally to get to 60-70% with as little durability loss as possible and Careful the rest of the way. With enough +Quality abilities you can get a gigantic amount of quality if you stack and get lucky, much more than trying to Careful the entire way.

Rapid can go up to 40% progress now but it's only if you get Great Success. It's intended to be your one last chance at success in a near-failure, so it works great with Culmination with guarantees your next action to be a Great Success.

you have to use skills like everyone is stating.
if you are high enough in some crafts though, i would go for the auto progress with no durability loss

By the Book (+30% Progress -0 Durability)
Unerring Hand (+20% Progress -0 Durability)
Piece by Piece (+30% Progress -0 Durability)

The Greater Strides + Culmination is a fixture on my action list. Instant 50-60%, plus 50% bonus progress for two turns. I pretty much just use Careful apart from this combo, even on hard recipes. It's just awesome to Careful down to single-digit durability, then pull Greater Strides + Culmination and Rapid all the way to finish. It feels like I'm pulling off a lucky clutch Rapid every time, even though it's not.

I'll have to look at the abilities I'm using as I'm sure they are not all as they are cracked up to be.. Just seems to be so much harder to actually complete the synthesis than it is to get the HQ bar up.

Not portraying myself as the resident expert on synthesis, but this is what I found works best for me, and why. I realize not everyone will have all these abilties, but there are other combos or abilities available to you that might mirror this approach. Notice that Perfection has been nerfed twice, dramatically, in the last 2 patches - to the point where I don't even use it.
