They said today that at around 4:40am PST they did maintenance on the log in servers to fix the issues with people in the queue getting booted with 2002, 4004 and the 3001 errors.
Well, it isn't fixed. Already was in a queue just under 5k, got down to around 1500 after an hour waiting and got a 2002 and now am back at 4800 in line again...
I get they said that this is a hard one to test, but i can confirm it is still doing it.
Square, please look into somethign that can keep our place in line when we disconnect and give us ample time to sign in. When i get disconnected i cannot log back in right away all the time due to repeated 2002 error before getting back to getting the character select screen. MAC and IP addresses should be sufficient to store our place in line for at least a few minutes at a time before removing us.

I have been disconnected a lot fewer times today while waiting in queue than I was yesterday. So either coincidence or they've solved some of the problem. -

Yeah, honestly, at least for Cactuar, it looks like it's just made things worse. We're all getting 3001'd and can't even join the queue. Seems like there was some bug that let a couple thousand people into the game all at once (I was around 1000 in queue), and it let a couple of my FC in at the exact same time who were also at different states in the queue. Then it disconnected me with an error and then started giving me 3001 every time I tried to join the queue. About an hour later it stopped, and I was able to queue, but I was stuck at position #1355 for over an hour. Eventually the queue started moving again, I got to #1, got an error (I think you always do at 1), disconnected me, and now Cactuar has 3001 all over again.
If I had to guess, I'd say that probably means Cactuar is still over the cap at the moment, and until that cap is gone, none of us are going to be able to log in. That's just a guess, though. -

Same. I just sat in the queue from 4500 people down to about 1200 and then got booted with a 2002 "lobby server connection has encountered an error". Log back in... 5600 people in the queue now. I am a patient person, but this is getting really frustrating. It's one thing to make me log in 3+ hours before I intend to play the game so I can get through the queue, but I'm willing to sit patiently and wait for that. It's something else entirely to keep kicking me out of line and sending me to the back through no fault of my own. At the very VERY least I think we need to come up with some kind of solution to retain your "place" in line if you get disconnected so when you reconnect a few minutes later you don't have to start all over again.

I just got home from work. Tried to log in. 7k queue. Same as yesterday. They said they had installed new servers to increase the cap from 17k players to 21k, yet the same amount of players in queue instead of ingame? Makes no sense.
Start refunding expansion and monthly fees now. -

Fairy in queue from 15h45 to 17h45 est it was better for my got only 2002 once near the end and have keept my place yesterday I got like 10 time 2002 in my 2 hours queue to log in

They didn't add new servers they increased the cap of how many people can sit in the login queue before 2002 happens. -

They explained how the login system works and it's current design is to to prevent the worlds from crashing like it did during ARR to SHB. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say "keeping your place in line" could very easily result in just as many errors. The server is crashing to save itself from catastrophic failure. Saving your place in line would just mean more crashes while the server panics about how to handle the excessive load.
I could be way off here, it could be something else entirely. But, typically, when you've got something that seems "so obvious, why haven't they already done this?" It's because they've already thought of it, too, and it doesn't actually work the way people think it would.
Whatever the case, it takes time to diagnose, develop, and implement solutions. Working out how to get a band-aid fix operational just takes time and resources away from actually solving the problem itself. -

Before acquiring a vpn I would get kicked from duties no matter what content I was in, given this was when the player volume was slightly lower so even with a 500 person queue that just meant a few minutes maybe even seconds in a queue before getting back into the duty. Though I wished there were a system in place for priority queue for those in an instanced duty as to not get a penalty due to ntt nodes not handling traffic properly or the servers buckling under the weight of server load. After maintenance I did notice my position in queue being saved, but unsure if others are experience this as well. I logged in early morning 8am est got booted by 90006 error logged back in waited an hour in the small 500 something queue to finish my cut scene when picking up sage. Went to attempt to warm up in palace of the dead because I didn't want to get booted from a duty and was booted during the second floor attempted to log back but 1500 in queue and I knew it would be pointless.
So.....I attempted anyway for science and found out around 500 in increments that each 500 is about an hour of wait time. I started in queue at 3pm est #2169 ended after two disconnects at around 5:47pm est.
This could just be placebo but the queue wait time is way longer than it use to be. Before 500 in queue meant only a few minutes in queue where now it is guaranteed to be an hour. I don't know if it just a number reporting wrongly or something else, but it is just a strange something I noticed. -

They actually made it worse somehow. I havent had a single DC the entire weekend once I was in and didnt really see any 2002s but now post maintenance I had like 3 2002s waiting to get in which sucks but its fine I just watch movies while I wait but insantly after logging in got a 90002 or whatever and got dced back to the end of a bigger queue than I waited in before. Why do maintenance just to make it worse?

Since I started playing this game 1 year ago there was always a small queue to get into the game, less than 100 people but there was always a queue. I wonder if in all this time they haven't done anything about it, is it that hard to open a new server? Not trying to be pessimist here but this kills my hope, i dont know if this is going to get better soon.

If the cap is 21,000 - why not make it a hard stop. Rather than allow players to repeatedly try to connect and then crash the queue for everyone, wouldn't it make sense that if the queue is at or approaching 21,000 no one can attempt to connect until the queue dies down a little?
I suppose as was said earlier, simple solutions like this probably aren't as simple as we think... :shrug: -
