Just for reference, the above cause as mentioned in today's update is incorrect.
I'm getting this error on a wired Fiber to the home connection of 300/300 and a wired ethernet connection to switch and router.
This has nothing to do with wi-fi or unstable connection from our side.
This is at the data center side. And quality of home connection doesn't seem to matter.

Exactly this, I have a hard-wired connection, and I never get any hiccups with anything unless my service goes completely down. I have yet to make it through a queue. Once I get put in the queue I inevitably get kicked out.
Excuses like they gave with regards to this makes me think they really do not know what they are doing. -

Yeah it's pretty clear what OP was talking about. That said, it is pretty uncool of SE to blame our internet connections, when it's rather obviously a worldwide issue...which means its on them. Tired of not even being allowed to queue. Can't even choose to guest to another world that's less congested on Crystal.

The maddeining, unacceptable one, to me, at least, is where I am in queue for 15-45 mins then get kicked, which keeps happening over and over. And they clearly blame us for that. -

Bumping this in hopes we get more visuals on this particular issue. Square saying that the disconnect 2002 errors being related to home internet connections its completely absurd, the sheer number of people experiencing these problems REGARDLESS of the quality of their connections, shows anyone with an ounce of IT Networking understanding that its a blanket PR statement to divert attention from the fact that they don't know what causes it and won't admit as much. Spending over an hour ATTEMPTING to login and getting 2002s? Yes, 100% I believe that's connection overload according to their first assertion. Staying in the queue for 2 hrs and then getting kicked at the #48 position? Has nothing to do with 'too many people queueing at once' because you're already in the queue.

12-06-2021, 05:46 AMSwisserI think you are mis-interpreting it. There are two possible causes, one on each end, that can result in that error. Also, you do not loose your place in the que if you are disconnected so it isnt terrible. I personally feel that this launch hasn't been bad at all.Quote:

I was in queue for 40 minutes, got to 1, then error 2002 kicked me off. I waited another 2 hours in a queue of 3500+ people. Finally got in, about halfway through a dungeon, I was booted again. My Free Company Members told me that it's showed me still logged in the last couple hours, still in the dungeon (i.e. My laptop was turned off and I had began watching a show). I can create a new character on another Data Center and get in instantly. But I cannot connect to the game using my main character on Primal. So, I agree. I do not think it's player's internet connection.

Even before this launch, I've never once been put back into the queue at the same place. Patently wrong information helps no one. I guess all we can do is keep bumping threads and hoping they respond eventually. The 3001 error has gone away, but now the queue is suspiciously stuck at 2956 people, not moving, and after 10 or so minutes it gives a lobby error and kicks you...so basically the same thing as the 3001 error.

based on tracerouts I think the "unstable connection" problem is also from them. At least connecting to the Crystal lobby server(204.2.229.11), even when using VPNs I always get routed through 204.2.229.230, which the tracert is showing an issue with. Almost every tracert on of the three pings times out. for example 10 79 ms 80 ms * 204.2.229.230.
It is always this exact IP address, which is one hop from the lobby server. As they said one of the causes is packet loss, it looks like the packet loss is from their own network so we are getting kicked out of queue due to their server issue -

Yea they need to issue refunds or suspend their sub fee for the month. I don't mind the long waits, I don't even mind the 2002 error codes. What I DO mind, is that their system is so garbage that when I try and log back after a few 2002 codes I'm sent to the back of the line. THAT is what pisses me off.

I am suffering the same problem. I attempt to log in and the queue is about 5,500 players. I wait a few thousand players and get a 2002 error. If I'm lucky, I retain my place in line. However, many times I get a 2002 error before being able to get back in queue, which forces a restart. This double 2002 is what places me at the back of the line again. Today, I've moved over 12,000 places in queue without being logged in. Currently I'm at 5,053; I doubt I will get to play tonight.
Normally with a queue this long, I would just read a book. However, because the queue needs to be constantly monitored incase of the error, I'm spending hours just waiting. It is a frustrating experience. -

On a direct Ethernet connection, I’ve gotten in Off hours, during peak hours I either mostly crash in queue with 2002 or crash trying to connect to the data center with 2002. Pretty unacceptable not to offer a stable waiting line for people to eventually get in, even if it’s hours later, this is definitely in SE’s side and should not require new servers to fix the waiting line connection.

They definitely have a system in place that holds your position in queue for a limited period if you DC. I've disconnected in queue several times and every time I get back in, I've been at the same or lower position. EVERY time.

This system does not work for everyone. It has failed me multiple times. The "save your spot" thing does not always work. I have video proof experiencing it failing today after waiting hours... not that that would be needed xD

Unless they think that 99.9% of people in the world have a bad internet connection at the exact same time for the entire last 2 days.
You get a 2002 error half the time TRYING to get into the character screen... this has nothing to do with "long time spent in queue" or any other excuses. Do a tracert, ping, WinMTR test to NTT.net (SE's North American server gateway) and you can see for yourself where the problem lies, it's the second to last hop (probably the login server) which is definitely inside their datacenter. -

Error 2002 can refer to one of two POSSIBLE scenarios.
If the login queue is at 17,000 individual logins it will drop you from that session.
OR
It could be a temporary break in your connection, causing packet loss which is on the ISP side.
Like yourself, I have a Hardwired connection that is backboned on FIBER OPTIC and it still happens to me. To the person calling people morons or idiots--chill out with that toxic behavior. I get it that the same posts are frustrating but there is no need to resort to that kind of behavior. If you can't help the person in a constructive, DECENT way, then do not REPLY.
To the OP, tl;dr.
Either the login queue hit 17,000 at your exact login moment or your ISP/connection experienced a temporary packet loss. Packet loss happens from the Cable/DSL ALL the way to the FIBER OPTIC level. -
