Is SE ever going to update squadron

I really like squadron whenever lvling a dps. I also like the idea of having my own squadron of npcs. However, the squad npcs are limited to lvl60 and basic jobs like conjurer and archer. I would love to have my squad memebers go further than that. I mean if our retainers can be lvl 80 drg, why can't squad npcs be lvl 80 drgs?

If I had to make a guess.. no because the system was discontinued and we now have Trusts in it's place. It's more likely that they'll gradually move the things that Trusts cover back to Stormblood, HW and ARR than that you'll see Squadrons be brought forward to cover everything to now.

I kinda hope so. I literally JUST discovered they put the dresser in there and had a blast outfitting my squadron with actual glamours instead of "whatever I have on me". Would be a shame if they didn't at least let us do something with them. There's whole other GC ranks out there itching for content to fill them out.

It's one thing if we reach the end of content and it's not expanded, but another when there are further ranks listed for the player... that we may never be able to get to.

I doubt it. Command missions were probably always just a prototype for Trusts. We might see them go up to 70 but beyond that there's no need as Trusts exist now.

IIRC this was asked in an interview a while back and the answer was something along the lines of "since ranks don't really do or mean anything there's no point in adding more until we figure out what we want the GC system to actually do."

God I hope not. Squadrons are terribly designed.

It was always low-priority. Before squadrons were put in the game it had been talked about for ages. I imagine it is still in mind but that it's at the very bottom of priorities.

It's not a worse trust system because it was never intended to be a trust system. Squadrons are commanded by you so they don't have AI on purpose. The scions are not commanded by you because they are your friends, so they do the mechanics themselves.

I'm gonna say no, since we have trusts that being updated.

Well that's a shame, but thanks for the info.
Considering the different grinds it takes to get to (current) max rank, and their disinclination to put content behind too large of a gate, I guess we may never see more ranks.

If I remember well, Squadrons were a base ground for Trusts.
I've spent time doing the perfect squadron, yeah it's sad that they would just rot in the GC storage room.

Companion system also needs an update and it would have been cool to explore content such as Eureka with a Squadron.

More GC rank for NPCs to address you, a mission to rank up, and more space to hold seals would be the best SE would be able to offer regarding Squadron, I believe.


While I would prefer GC to expand to lv70 contents, I heard that SE is making Trust to do that instead, so no chance.

squadron members are kinda dumb but at least they know how to dps unlike the trust :D
the palace hard took me several tries because the ai tank wanted to stand in the aoe and keeped dying to stupid things you have to really micro manage them in the lvl 50 hard dungeons

If I remember correctly, the AIs don't have some mad dps rotation but just do lot of damage to compensate for being not so smart.

I like to know why there are Ranks that can never be reached for years, its not abandoned content is it?
