MNK Anatman and Perfect Balance

would it break monk if Anatman also grant a random Nadi' with a 10% damage increase for 10 seconds at 120s recast, while having Perfect Balance only available during combat. to me i dont see nothing wrong with it since Fist of Fire 10% is gone and Riddle is down from 25% to 15%.

this will allow burst for monks hardest hitting Phantom Rush skill but lock the monk from executing one 700 or 600 potency skill for the 2 Nadi's needed for Phantom Rush.

Make Anatman useful by putting it on 2 min CD and giving you both PB stickers for Phantom Rush and also putting your Twin Snakes buff and Leaden Fist buff to 30s without falloff so you can True Strike and Bootshine forever.

Or let Anatman let you go ham with every Blitz skill as a burst option.

As is I really see Anatman as prime remove from hotbar material outside of the occasional Boss Jump.

personally think anantman should be turned into an emote then they just replace it with a trait that lets you get up to 10 chakra

Anatman is designed to be a downtime skill, so I get that its uses will be niche, but I do think they could have done something more in line with Improvisation with it. Like maybe if you're in range of the monk, you take less damage, and the monk generates chakras while using it.

Upgrade mantra and use anatmans animation. It doesnt directly shield or heal but buffs healing skills in a 15 yalm radius for as long as you stay still.

If Anatman has to change reduce it's time to 10 seconds or so to match pull timers and just make it grant you one free perfect balance at the start of a fight if you do the full time and make PB combat only, stop the -24 second PB opener before it even exists.

Yes, though you can keep them separate too. Mantra can then continue to be used in combat, similar to how shield samba can be used in combat, while the damage reduction would be the skill you have to stack for and the monk not move. It would be similar to the two dancer skills, just in reverse. Doesn't have to be exactly that effect, just add any party benefit while also generating chakra stacks over time would make it a viable skill.

Anatman granting stacks of Formless fist (doesn't have to be Formless fist it can be a new effect with the same or similar effect) would make Anatman amazing with the new Blitz system. Just like Sam Meditate.

Anatman imo should just decrease CD on Perfect Balance with 5-10 sec on each tick or something like that.

My suggestion on Anatman remains the same: It holds any self enhancement (so this would include RoF and Perfect Balance, Brotherhood would not be), it grants you one Chakra upon execution and per sever tick, grants KB/Draw in immunity, and reduces all damage by 50% on a 60s CD.

That is actually less of a suggestion and more an opinion on how it should have worked once GL was made a trait. With the new PB and Blitz my thoughts on it remain the same as my suggestion would already make it a godly downtime skill. Right now, I wonder if I will have the same frustrations with new PB as I do RoF as mechs in some encounters line up poorly and I am forced to let my CDs drift, or have my burst phase cut in half. If that is the case, then I would want any timers associated with PB and Blitz to be held as well.

I believe we already past the point to HOPE they would do something about Anatman. So don't bother about this skill too much.
In END, It won't be on my hotbar if my slots are full.

Without going overboard with crazy new mechanics, I'd change it such:

*Keep the Twin Snakes refresh, keep it on the GCD, keep it as a channel.
*Maybe give a free Leaden Fist but not necessary.
*Maybe fill / slowly fill Chakra gauge.
*Every few seconds (3?) of channeling gives you 1 stack of a stacking buff. Every stack will either (A): increase the potency of your next Bootshine and all will be consumed on use, or (B): each stack buffs 1 weaponskill to have increased Critical Hit Rate (so if you accumulate 4 stacks, your next 4 weapon skills have more crit, more potential chakras, more compensation for downtime)

I wouldn't want to tread on Mantra's toes. Out of combat PB refresh might be viable depending on how they act, if at all, to potential early PB pull timers.

Tying damage to Anatman is a bad idea. Did we not learn from SAM's mistakes from 5.0 with old Meditation/Shoha? Or hell, Anatman opener?

Frankly, I don't think any sort of channel skill belongs on the job. I'd rather see Anatman either removed or turned into an out of combat Perfect Balance refresher.

I don't think that it's a problem in and of itself, the issue with Shoha was that it was the only way of getting the attack.

Making Anatman give you Chakra would actually be fairly similar to Shoha on SAM currently.

If Anatman gave you chakra stacks based on how long you've been in the stance rather than on server ticks, then this would work. But what we don't want is anatman fishing to try to get a free chakra stack between GCDs

Honestly I would just remove PB and Anatman and make formshift a ogcd that you can use to gain beast chakra and have full control of stances but Im sure that could be either OP, easy, or too complex so just an idea.

but if i would keep them anatman as a party heal buff with some type of PB cd reduction is not bad either. though that formless idea was cool.

If you do some quick research on the actual definition of Anatman, and what the reference is, you will come to find that it refers to a doctrine of Buddhism, which is "anattā", or "anātman", of which means "non-self", or "substanceless". This Doctrine states: "that no unchanging, permanent self or essence can be found in any phenomenon. that there is in humans no permanent, underlying substance that can be called the soul. Instead, the individual is compounded of five factors that are constantly changing."

So... If I were to base the in-game action Anatman, off of its source, to be honest... I think that it should serve the same purpose as Perfect Balance, and allow us to ignore the form requirements, to skirt around the combo system and use what ever actions that we want.

It could be a separate action that is more effective than Perfect Balance, which is what I would prefer, or Perfect Balance could even upgrade into a new Anatman, via high-level trait. My idea is some thing like the new Anatman could be more effective than Perfect Balance, but have a much larger CD.

for a example... Anatman grants six stacks of anattā, each stack the same as Perfect Balance stacks, but also with the Formless Fist effect, and a high enough duration, that the Monk can use three stacks, use a Blitz, then use the other three stacks, and use another Blitz, to gain both Nadi, and jump straight to the third bigger Blitz.
The new Anatman would essentially be two Perfect Balances in one, and allow for a immediate jump into a triple Blitz burst, while also have the Formless Fist effect, so that Twin Snakes still applies Disciplined Fist, and Demolish still applies its DoT.

Anatman should just be removed. I can guarantee that the same people who complained that GL existed are going to complain that the Twin Snakes buff is "too stressful" to maintain and "too punishing" to lose. At the rate SE is going, the TS buff will become a trait, and SE will have to find something else for a mobile melee dps to do with a button that insists we stand still and look kinda cool for a few seconds.

Whether they actually can find something for it is anyone's guess, Monk players have spent years offering ideas for things and we got "half-baked ninja" for our trouble.

Anatman shouldn’t stay with its current iteration. I can think of 3 options to this to make it more worthwhile using.

Option 1 - It functions nearly the same as now but will also hold PB stack / Blitz timer and Leaden fist timer so that everything is held rather than only disciplined fist and form.

Option 2 - Adopting ideas from Reaper, channeling it gives you a free use a another skill, such as your strongest blitz without altering the state of your gauge. Instant while out of combat, channeled while in combat.

Option 3 - Akin to its original implementation, channeling it gives you a stacking buff (previously old greased lightning). The longer channeled while in combat the longer or more potent the buff that then falls off over time. Maybe a stacking 1% attack speed buff up to say 5 stacks.


The first option would probably be the easiest to add but least interesting.
