Usually casting requires magic users to be focused and calm to call forth incantations. They don’t go hollering around making uncontrolled noises.
Well i always scream EXPLOSION in my mind whenever I cast fire IV, demise and flare, and sometimes outloud saying it...... and i realize that screaming while casting is ruining your concentration XD
I'd rather cringe text macros stay as that and not get voiced tyvm
Incantations are literally chanting magic words, though. It is a very common fantasy trope that witches, wizards and the like often recite verbal phrases necessary for their spells to function. Why else would the Silence condition prevent spellcasting?
This is probably also true. Imagine a whole party yelling out their spells... "Stone! Stone! Stone!" "Fire! Fire! Fire!" Even if they made it so you only heard your own character's voice, it would still get pretty tiring.
They could. But I like the silence better. Imagine hearing this mid fight lol:

It is a bit odd that combat voices are wholly unused for non-RDM casters.
I think attaching to them to certain spells that aren't used super frequently like Afflatus Misery and Xenoglossy or certain instant casts like Art of War would be logical.
I would immediately become a Caster main and never look back!
And anyone who dislikes this can go into the settings and lower / turn off voice volume. Not that I imagine it would be a big deal. People already can't hear each other "Ha!" and "Hey-a!" in battle very well and I cannot believe some muttering would fare much better.
Not every melee attack comes with a voiced grunt or shout, so not every spell with a cast bar would have to either. This doesn't have to be an incessant chant.
And, as above, I don't see how this could get more annoying than the melee characters shouts (which I'm sure we all tune out just fine... when we can hear them).
Ok if you want more voices you should get them. But I vote for a button to toogle off the combat voices then. Everytime I stand near a BRD and their voice is kinda high it just annoys me. Some voices are just creepy. Thinking of a raid full of uuuhhh AH! YA!!! Brrr!! Nah, that's not for me.
Add them just for LBs.

Sorry! Ill play quieter :D
On a fun note, though, I did pick Archer/Bard mainly because of Archer's experience and the fact bard is always depicted as that guy just doing noice, and it should not be considered music. *Remembers the old Asterix and Obelix movies
So the fact that your saying this about BRD is so fun to me.
It would be a crazy spam of voices, cool idea in theory but even on single player games with a reduced party, the ammount of voices can be overwhelming sometimes.
We wouldnt like this for example outside of memes : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCM59JJY2Js
If anything, ad a separate volume slider for combat voices. We all know that female Miqo'te BRD.

omg this video popped in my mind reading your comment xD

Reminds me how Jack from the new FF game Stranger of Paradise calls out the spell and honestly I am fine with silent casting
(Although some enemies do chant when casting in XIV, an example is Sartauvoir in his small dialogue pop up in Bozja content).
Either way, don't think we need the character yell for casting, I can imagine that Hrothgar that yells for every swing and him going mental on spamming Fire 4 lol
I honestly think it would be nice for a few spells though maybe something like Flare/ or maybe give blms Ultima so they can have a voice chant for a long cd spell and scream ULTIMA!.
Honestly I think the signatures should be voiced personally for blms in ff that typically was flare/comet/ultima for white mages it mostly was Holy (so honestly) at the very least the signature moves should be voiced.
We can already adjust this in the sound setting.
We have this option in game right now.
Also, to add to the meme videos, Mr Happy did one on if Monk said its moves as it attacked~

Am i the only one that would extremely Enjoy if it all had a voice added to it? It would totally beat the silence to hear people scream it and rather engaging

I'm out of energy!
I need energy!
Not enough energy!
I need to target something first
I can't attack that target!
I'm out of range
Need more energy
Not enough energy!
over, and over, and over, and over....
That said, I do like how GW II does it though, where their standard attacks are just groans and shouts, but the cooldowns are voiced - it's a nice balance of having a voice, but tied to a button that's not used as often, and also works as a "hey everybody, I'm activating a raid cd!"
S H A K E I T O F F !
O N M Y M A R K !
R I S E M Y M I N I O N A N D D O M Y AAA DSASASASAS
Im ok with this for the more important, longer and critical cooldowns. Like Hallowed Ground for example: "I will hold the line!" or something like that, idk, i see it viable.
I think incanting by whispering or at least softly voiced would be quite immersive. And then maybe a nice bellow for some big cd’s. It would add some oomph to casters and healers. And just imagine the eerie whispering around you while beating up a boss.
But yes, not everything. Please. I play healers mostly and my one dps button would get old really quickly lol.
The only game I've played where casters speak out spells is Aion and, while it was actually cool and I did like it, it also got really freakin irritating if you were ever spamming spells with the same voice line lmao
