I tried looking around the forums to see if I could find anything on this topic but I could only find things from reddit. but it was from 2015ish. and not sure if the project to change it was just scrapped or not
I was just wondering if we could eventually change our City-State. Granted I understand that this has very little to do with the story and some cut scenes will have variations based on what city you first started the game on. I was just wondering if this would be come a possibility in the future. was wondering if it could be tied into the New Game+ feature . or even a paid service.

Sure, choosing your first job and having the first chunk of content in that city is fine, but there need not be any reason your can’t NG+ the others, or that your starter city be recorded anywhere.
(The other bits I’m referring to removal are your character’s birthday and god)
My point being, if there is going to be stored data for something like that, I’d prefer them to just add a text area we can fill in ourselves like LOTRO that other players can read. -

Doesn't the base paid package for FFXIV offer 8 character slots? I mean... all that's really different is how you go about meeting your city-state leader, which Scion you meet first, and the ride in featuring different beastmen/a boat if you're Limsa. Every single one of them features a wave of lesser monsters with your Scion(s) holding off the real threat monster, they all feature a fight against a golem(which has never been so sorely tested!!!!), a fight against an Ascian and their voidsent Gargoyle, and finding the Water Crystal of Light and receiving Hydaelyn's will/blessing. -

honestly wouldnt mind having such an option as a paid service. sure its tiny and cosmetic, but about on the same level as changing your birthday or parton god, something fantasia already lets us do.

It's world-building. Birth date not so much (though personally I use it to track character creation date) but making you choose your guardian is basically an excuse to fit the basic lore about the Twelve into the game without having to find somewhere to fit it in dialogue.

City state is determined by your first job. Period. It's where you spend your time learning the ropes. Other than that, it has no more bearing in-game than choosing your nameday. It is inherent in the completion of your first in-game quest, so no "additional" data storage is required to keep it in mind.
The time city states make a difference occurs when you choose a Grand Company or create a new retainer. Those choices are deliberate. They can also be modified at will (well, GC requires 2nd Lieutenant and [if I recall correctly] 50,000 GC seals. The first change is free.) -

My question would be why are you trying to change it?
If it's just because you want to see what the starting MSQ is like in another city state, create a new character and play through it. It only takes a few hours. You'll never have access to another city-state's starting experience through NG+ because NG+ is replaying your character's journey based on what's completed in your Journal. Your character never completed the quests of the other city-states.
If you're concerned about your character's backstory, your starting city is where you first became an adventurer. It's not necessarily your character's home town. You're even asked in the starting cutscene "Is this your first visit to [city-state]?" and you get to choose Yes or No. Your character could have started from anywhere and received training in various jobs in other places before you decided to journey to Eorzean and join some of the guilds there to get their official training (even if it was pain in the butt because they made you start from scratch like a total novice). -

Wasn't so much as backstory, Just noticed as I was playing through the story since I'm still fairly new to the game that they reference your city state at times. or like Thancred likes to reference how he's the one that found me more often then not.. I was more or so wondering if it would be possible to go back and change to Limsa Lominsa to change those things. I went into this game blind to get the full effect of the game and didn't want to read guides or anything and learning of the world and the characters I've grown to love vs others I could do with out but I'm just currently kind of having starting area regret. not to mention I've already invested a decent amount of time. Into this one character and even purchased the cactus mount from gold saucer so it would hurt my soul to start over.

Which Grand Company did you join? Most of the references I've seen in-game depend more on that than your starting city. At least after ARR.

As you become higher ranked, you'd end up being addressed as Lieutenant or Captain for the same Grand Company.Quote:

As far as caring about your starting City-State... maybe it's because I have alts from everywhere that are at the end of the current MSQ, but I never much notice or care when they do reference my starter city. My main character started in Limsa Lominsa, so has Y'shtola as my first Scion, and I can't recall her ever really making a nod towards that fact. But maybe I'm just blind. -
