Suggestion: Repair "All" - Please give us a real repair all button.

Simple post - Please just give us a button that lets us one click repair everything in any inventory slot we have.

Just a small quality of life change.

There's really no reason for it to be as awkward repairing all your gear as it is, especially since they must be repaired to be used for Glamours.

Just have a button repair everything. Bam.

This has to be the least controversial suggestion ever. It's seriously a no-brainer. I don't know how this game has gone nine years without this.

I'll second this motion.

On a similar note, who here thinks there are just TOO MANY currencies and it's a crazy system for what you need to do in order to spend them properly? I'm a new FFXIV player (since April only) and am still confused and at times having a heck of a time figuring out which NPC to go to, what options in their dialog windows, to get to the items I want to trade for some of those currencies (FC quartermasters, Rowena's helpers, collection appraisers, scrip exchangers, even the armor, weapons, jewelry vendors, etc, etc.). There are so many ways all of them could be simplified and made more user friendly. After all the years the game has been out, why isn't there an attempt to streamline the whole process?

Just don't include the inventory I think it's OK.
Actually it doesn't matter, repair fee is very cheap anyway compared to rewards we get from doing stuff :/

No? I returned the same time as you and got no such confusion. Each beast tribes still not very much into currency and Rowena as well as GC currency have their purposes.

Just calm down and read dialogue.

Something extra click won't kill you, there are other things more important than this "quality of life".

Imagine being the one person that's opposed to an actual "Repair All" button.

Obviously there's a reason.

It's purposely meant to limit the amount of data you can access and transfer at once. Most people who think about repairing will repair the gear they currently have equipped, and additional inventory data beyond this is unnecessary in the repair window. The number of users who open the repair window with the intent to repair everything in their entire armoury chest at once is probably considered low enough that a repair all all button isn't worth the projected increase in data access and transfer across all characters when only some of them want to repair more than just what's equipped, vs the dev time to implement it. Otherwise of course they would have implemented it already.

Short answer is old legacy code and is this way to not overload with memory/data requests to the servers.

Regardsless its 2021 and not like SE isn't having the funds to reinvest into these old systems and change it.

Same goes for mogstation... it shouldn't be this difficult to join the game or buy a new expansion. We all like to kick on Blizzard but at least BattleNet is super easy to use. Buy game/expansion BAM it's linked to your account asap.

Reinvestment isn't as simple as throwing money at a problem. They'd have to hire new developers. There either aren't enough experienced developers looking for work (which has been stated outright before), or they would have to train someone from the ground up, which is a considerable time and money sink (time in that it takes someone away from their regular work to mentor somebody, and money because you have to pay this new person that isn't being productive) and a risk (imagine hiring, training and paying someone for months or years to do a job only for them to quit before they even work on the job you did all that for). Not to mention SE is a business with numerous games and studios they want to invest in.

its something players asked for for a long time... and quite often. they also addressed it several times. dont remember the reason, but there is one. they made it pretty clear: it will NOT happen.
as mentioned by others datatransfer sounds reasonable. (since this creates also limitations in other areas)

In terms of mogstation, it's could be easily outsourced (my honest guess but neither of us work for Square Enix and haven't seen their source code). When it comes to game development for said legacy code for repairing gear I think you've got a point. More below.


I am a system dev myself so I know throwing money itself won't fix it but it cost to hire more resources too you know.
And yes the issue is Square Enix, and at least Yoshida's department are strongheaded on having japanese developers and there may very much be a shortage of good native speaking developers.

mentoring or shadowing a senior developer will take time off the senior developer but long term it would pay off, cause these issues is just going to keep on coming and just saying "nah fuck it, we need to invest into new projects instead" isn't helping. It boils down to what they deem to be more priortized and fixing and giving something their consumers been asking for years isn't high up on their agenda. You will always run the risk of people switching place of work or go freelance but that's true for any profession. I've been at my employer past 10 years and been a developer the past 5. If you hire the right person and have a good company with benefits, pay and whatnot a employeee values you will have them around.

If they allowed other developers in their company or hire from rest of the world it could be solved quicker.

Developing new systems or fix old takes a long time, we're talking years most likely.

Just give me back the ability to repair people's gear like I can material meld. I had it in 1.0. It was a huge quality of life, I would like it back.
That and the ability to buy partial stacks of things off the market boards again. This having to buy 99 when I need 1 is for the birds. Let me buy the one and the 98 stay up.

If you're a crafter yourself, there's literally a button to repair all the gear you're currently wearing.
Why in Zodiark's name the spaghetti code apparently makes that same function unavilable when asking a NPC to repair your gear is totally beyond me.

UI-related QoLs I want:
-Repair All. Nut' say.

-A tick "Don't show this window" again when you desynth something. I know it is to prevent mis-click, but when you don't have a shaky hand, it proves to be annoying.

-A tick "Always yield non-HQ item" for crafting, which basically disable your quality bar. No, seriously, I don't always want my crafted items HQ. Many mid-level intermediary items can be HQ crafting without HQ input, and having HQ items mixed in my batch means I have to awkwardly manual-input them when normal-quality runs out. That or lower-quality the stack beforehand. Either way, it adds extra work for no reason.
-The ability to retrieve materia directly from the materia window instead of have to do it on the character equipment window.
