Make Fate Parties Relevant again, devs!

Remember fate parties? Like pre-heavensward fate parties all posted up in party finder? Sometimes we'd have like 4-6 full parties running fates from Aleport, then graduating to Quarrymill, to Costa, to CCH and finally Northern Thanalan. Those times were seriously a blast. <3

Anyone else from those days(or any new players find that appealing) feel like it would be awesome if the dev team helped us make fate parties a major relevant thing again? I long to open pf and find dozens of people running fates from area to area again. These gems and relic things just aren't doing it. People still do it alone, nobody cares about fate parties because it's been kinda pushed on us by making this method much less efficient as spamming dungeons.

The dev team seem to be trying to maintain the integrity of the game by forcing us all into dungeons to lower queue times because they can't figure out a balance, it seems like that anyways.

For me personally, I do love running dungeons time to time but over and over for levelling becomes mundane and it's not the same as hanging out with the same peeps for 4-5 hours in the same parties one day and then seeing them again the next day, just making in-game friendships from all different FC's.

My first year playing on Lamia I made so many friends. Now I've been on Marlboro since just after Heavensward released and I barely know a third of the same amount of people, I feel like the loss of fate party relevance is a major factor. I stuck it out here thinking it would get better. It hasn't. I'm in a big FC but still. It's not the same.

Tell me I'm not alone in this.:(

We still fate grind, but for side content.
It doesn't involve levelling a job though.

Shb introduced a reward system for its overwold fates
Relic make us do old area fates and bozja/zadnor have some too

Yes that's not the same feel as old parties

I don't dislike it, it just moved elswhere.

tbh there is little point to do fates. Exp isn't really worth it like it was back in the day.
in shb people only did a handful to unlock higher movement speed on mounts.

FATE farming was big when ShB released, and it probably will be again when EW released.
Those first few weeks/month where people are levelling to 80/90, and still unlocking the FATE reward vendors.

There is a LOT of FATE partying going on in ARR areas these days thanks to the amount of sprouts.

Not so many ShB FATE parties because most people are done with the limited purpose of those FATEs and even with their scalable nature they still drag too long if you only have 1 or 2 people in them. They're also the most creatively bankrupt FATEs in the game.

Didn't they actually nerf the FATE exp rewards back in ARR due to RMT bots?

I do think the boss fates should be insane fight. Ixion should be 10 times harder than it is.

I've previously asked for this same thing (and not just the Bozjan/Eureka equivalents, where we're sequestered in a single zone).

Two things about FATE mobs that were great: 1) they made any zone they were active in feel alive - way, WAY more alive than any experience I've ever had with areas in, say, World of Warcraft. When you were running all over the place in the South Shroud, or Southern Thalanaan, or whatever, it really felt immersive.

And 2) it was an amazing way to meet people and just talk. I loved that about FATE grinding. It was lovely to just interact with people who you wouldn't normally bump into, and have conversations about whatever. I barely talk to anyone anymore, outside RP.

I liked fate parties over POTD but POTD just killed them. I think a lot of sprouts do them in ARR but then learn they are not common as they get into expansions. They have been made relevant again because of relic weapon steps and people do them in Shadowbringers for the bicolor gemstones, but they don't usually form parties because a lot of them don't know what Party Finder is.

I didn't know about that, but that makes sense. I remember reporting a few fate botters back then, especially in NT that were tanks and they would constantly reset fates because they programed their software to make them run away at low health,

I agree, same with hunts.

They did try with the ShB system. But what you have to remember is that FATE groups were so big at that time because paths to exp were limited. And we used to have that drought at around 47 where we couldn't get the next MSQ quest and had to grind to get high enough. So there was a lot of FATE farming.

heres a idea, Remove this road to 80 bullcrap and just streamline the methods to leveling, content such as:
*Fates
*Beast tribe
*Roulettes*
*Leves
*Hunt logs
*Deep Dungoens
*Guild heists
*Wondrous tails
*Challenge log
Ect

I think the biggest issue is that FFXIV's leveling mantra has essentially become 'POTD or die.' Nothing is competitive with it, and no matter how odious like 15 hours of that place may be, people are always going to default to the straightest line between point A and B.

Becoming misanthropist hermit has made me find the beauty of FATEs (and Levequests) as leveling tools between 1-50.
Maybe not the most effective way, but you do not have to mess with anyone but yourself and that is great!
So, maybe try becoming hermit? You can party with your Chocobo and Minion and maybe Carbuncle :)

I have leveled every job to 71 or 80. Never done POTD.

I do miss how fast ARR's FATE trains were.
One of the reasons I couldn't get into Eureka or Bozja was that they feel so slow to me, between having such big maps, either having to unlock mounts or having to unlock mount speed boosts, areas locked behind story progression, and having a new level to grind.

That and the fact people weren't queueing for leveling dungeons, making queue times for newbies longer.

Battlecraft Leves aren't a bad way to level, provided you have allowances, until around Lv40. Specially Grand Company leves... which, for some incredibly stupid reason cannot be levelinked.
Because allowances are so limited I made sure to use all mine up before resorting to dungeons. I'm aware most people prefer to just go with the fastest methods, but I got so sick of spamming dungeons or potd that I used FATEs and Leves in-between a lot.

I love that you found a way to enjoy levelling up in a way that is satisfying and fulfilling for you, that's awesome. I just want to meet some new people that I can say hi to and talk with about things with. That bond from levelling with each other for hours and graduating from one zone to the next. It was great, I loved doing the leves to though tbh, those massive xp boosts when you turn in leves is super satisfying. lol

Before POTD it was "FATE or die" because that was the default straightest line between point A and point B. POTD was like a breath of fresh air when it came out because we didn't have to grind FATEs until our eyes bled. It's kind of ironic to me that people want that back now.

I definitely think they should keep FATEs relevant. I just don't think we're ever going to see FATE farms like OP mentions again because a lot of that was due to having no other choice. I thought the Shared FATE system was a good idea and also the exp boost they started putting in with SB FATEs. I think there will just naturally be a ceiling to their usefulness unless SE makes them the only option again. Which I don't see them doing, given the popularity of newer options.

As someone who fate partied heavily during ARR launch and hated them since...fates could disappear tomorrow and I don't think I could care any less.

I'm with you, because they seem to be SE's go-to on a lot of things and after 7 years of that I'm just done with them. That's a big reason I noped out of Bozja once I learned you couldn't progress without them.

I did like the Shared FATE system in ShB though because I liked getting rewarded if I did do them with things like crafting mats.

I really enjoyed the FATE hunt activities. The were much more fun than repeating dungeons in my experience. I would love for those to be a thing again. I would go one step further to ask that FATEs were more varied, though. Repeating the same FATEs in an hour can also be tedious. SE could increase the amount of FATEs available for each zone but keep the respawn timers similar. I just love to FATE :)

Yeah! I agree to a certain extent, I'd love to see more varied fates in the world, FF was always about gaining levels on the world map! But even that way it is now, when you're with a ton of fun people you barely notice it. Still tho, I'd like see the varied fates added.

What is point of having them to be need in party?
I do fates people go around do stuff and we complete it without being in party.

Only logical reason for you needing to be in party is as stated before :"I can't do the bare minimum, let me level afk without getting kicked plz!"

They are doable without a party, but if an area is congested enough not everyone may make it in time to complete fates and get full credit on their own. That's where a group comes in to play. It's not really about being lazy. It's about being efficient. Being a tank or healer helps a ton though for soloing fates even in packed zones because it gives players more credit for the enmity than the overall damage. So yeah, if you are a GLA or PLD as your mini profile suggests you are having a much easier time than dps would if the zones are very active. As a tank they are braindead easy, not that fates are hard to begin with. They are seriously the equivalent of doing the bare minimum for exp. Run in, AoE, maybe dodge a little and on to the next...

Wish they could take what we got in Bozjan and Zadnor and put it out in the open world, in all expansion zones, they tried to make FATEs better in SB and SHB by adding those Maiden mobs that increase Exp but never added them to HW and ARR.

Just have them do something akin to the tiger mount for hunts... Add a mount in each map that has fates that unlocks with an achievment of clearing like... 10000 fates on that specific map... >.> you'll have completionists doing fates for years... lol
