Hamlet Defence: Information thread.

Just thought it would be a good idea to post information for the DoH/DoL. To help them when attempting this fight with their group. Also possibly some party setups that have won and what those groups did to win.

I'll post what I know and hopefully others will post what they know so we can have the full list. Just a quick gathering of what I've seen so far I'd love to know the rest of the combinations but I'm fighting server congestion and need sleep. I'll update the OP with the information in the thread tomorrow.

DoL Combos.

• 3 Red: Attack down
• 3 Green: Sleep
• 3 Blue: Enemy HP down
• 1 of each: Emnity reset

DoH Combos.

• • CRP/BSM/ARM
  Musked Pavis = Reduces Enmity of nearby Militia Soldiers
  Spiked Pavis = Increases Attack Power of nearby Militia Archerss
  Blessed Pavis = Grants Regen to all nearby Militia Laborers
  Fortified Pavis = Increases Defense and Evasion of all nearby Militia Members

Warrior Heavy parties tend to preform well, due to AOE attacks and large HP pools. Be sure to grab any monsters that are chasing your DoL/DoH members as they can and will get agro.

The more points the more item rewards you can get at once not always a guarantee though. (Unknown if higher scores tend to get better drops or just increased chances at drops.)
1-9999 points = 1 drop
10k+ = 2 drops

Duration

It appears that the hamlet battles rotate between supply and battle phase meaning that there will always be one hamlet undergoing defense phase.

from the NPC

Three pots of sanguine humours will lower enemy attack power. (Red)
Three pots of phlegmatic humours will lower enemy HP. (Blue)
Three pots of melacholic humours will induce sleep. (Green)


Militia Quartermaster Dhebi Polaali: Pots of humours can be found in the alchemical supply caches located around the hamlet. Be sure to exercise the utmost caution when handling said items, for they are extremely fragile!

Some information on rewards: There's a 50 point "balanced party bonus" which seems to be from having at least one DoW, DoM, DoL, and DoH. Each time you do a debuff using DoL, you get 10 points, doing each debuff at least once gives 150. Same thing goes for the buffs from DoH. Quite obviously, you get plenty of points from keeping the front line intact: Every NPC alive, every line unbreached, every supply crate still there, plus a bonus for not losing anyone at all. You get 3000 for "Provisioner Present", which seems to be from having someone who's in the top 20 in your party. You also get 1500 for killing the stray fauna (a lemur running around) and another 1500 for defeating the beast of burden (Wolf in the last wave).

As far as strategy goes, I've found it helps to have the DoH focus on buffing the defense of your NPCs, DoL focus on lowering monster attack and HP, and have your healer take the time to buff and cure the NPCs. Your regen DOES stack with theirs (They don't receive it as an individual status), plus your protect stacks with their defense buff. NPCs are quite capable of tanking when buffed, but it can be a good idea to have some capable WARs to try and take the mobs down quick, and if you're lucky tank a few.

My Party has won pretty swiftly with this setup, no Casualties and it went smooth.
We really owe it to the DoL!

Lv.2 Hamlet Defense
PT Setup was [4 WAR 1 WHM 2 DoL]
Debuffs used: ATK Down (Survival) & Poison (Quick Kill)


-Take enemies off the DoH/L If they get hate.
-Buff the Militia Defend Lines, and Cure them whenever needed.
-Get as much enemies grouped. AoE is your friend.
-Take enemies off Militia Defenders If they're getting too much hit.
-Just the wave before the NM spawns, try to kill/reduce the HP of the mobs quick.
-Once the NM pops, Kill him as quick as you can, before more monsters spawn.
-Have One or Two of your WAR take enemies off Supplement NPCs/DoH/L If they wander
around.

One thing I'm curious of is the L50 Lemur that pops at the start of the Battle and
L50 Scout Wolf that spawns before NM appears. Anyone know what happens If we kill them?

How are we supposed to know which phase is going on? I don't feel like trecking all the way to the middle of nowhere (Hyrstmill) just to find out.

What do you actually win from this thing?

Updated OP with a list of the millitia gear (possible rewards) also you can receive the ever present lump of coal...Dark matter and some fireworks.

Someone in our party was in the Top 20 and on the first run we won they got a Militia Wristlet. I'm wondering if you HAVE to be in the Top 20 to get a Militia piece or if you just have a higher chance. I did notice there was a 2k or so point boost from having a Provisioneer present (assuming this to be someone in the top 20).

It would be really helpful if someone set up a timer widget or something for this. Something that shows which phases we're currently in.

im counting of course the dark matter drops since thats obviously where the items will fall in if they come. ive seen this pattern a few times now

I'm not sure that quite corresponds to it. When we got 6000 points on my first run, I got nothing, not even a firework. When we got 12000 the next run, I got five fireworks. I do believe points play a role in how much stuff you get, but it's not so clear cut as "One item for this tier, two items for this tier..."

No, what Thevedis means is there is a potential number of drops per tier. Most of the time they are Dark Matter but it can be Militia gear, like with Primals and their weapons. So it can be Dark Matter OR Militia gear. The magicked prisms aren't factored into this, kind of like how Vampire plant cuttings aren't factored into Primal drops.

How do the crafting jobs work inside, do you find materials in there and craft them?

Even if you already have an item, the game will still try to give you another, and you can't put it in loot list. Much like Primal fights.

Were you in the top 20 contributors during the preparation phase?

Level 1 on Ragnarok, and yes I'm 14th in the Supply Rating (why I've been spamming this all day). 3/20 on drops so far, a pair of Wristlets and 2 Knives...

I hope that you're not required to be in the top 20 contributors just to get a chance at Militia drops. The only ones I've seen so far were all for top 20 contributors.

The lemur and wolf that pop if u will them they give 1,500 point each on the final score

In summary for drops:

For chest:
1-9999 points at end of hamlet defense = 1 drop
10000-19999 = 2 drops
etc.

For Captain:
Must be in top 20 from supply phase to receive item from him

Items can be any of the militia items (maybe?) and dark matter

It's not a lucky sob in my last group that a militia in their loot list, all the top 20 does is grant 2 chances at getting loot lol.

Also not sure if anyone has tried more adventurous setups but with a pickup group we came up with.
WAR, ARC, BLM, WHM, DOLx2 and DOHx2

The basic idea is the DOL work together in getting Blue then Red so the effect always last while the DOH work sepereately on ATT/DEF and DEF/Regen so that the defense of the NPCs is always active.

From that point basically the fighters fight as normal as they keep the mobs off the DoH/L and near the end of the fight when the boss appears the DoL can focus on green to sleep the mobs so there are less mobs to worry about if you just want to eliminate the boss.

On the first attempt I forgot to tell the DoH how the whole system worked but upon the second run we only lost 1 fortification and got 28k reward. Sure the reward wasn't high but for a 2nd attempt with randoms I'd say it's pretty good XD. It's fun how Hamlet seems to support a wide range of setups.

i'm only seeing offhand / bracelets drop. higher tier is prolly where the gear is at

It's rank 2 for you though the issue you're having might be very simple. If you haven't noticed it's best to target the mages first when you see them, I keep forgetting their names. But the Beast come in 3 classes, Lancer, Gladiator and then THM/CON combo. THM has the lowest amount of HP, Lancer are Medium and the Gladiators have a lot of HP as well as defense.

What may be decimating your party is when the mages use Aeroga in unison which can deal devastating damage, so when you see them coming it's best to switch targets regardless of what you are attacking at the moment.

Hope that helps a bit but if you are having issues try to get at least 1 DoL and DoH in the group, with them you can start off with fortifying the NPC defense and with the gatherer they can weaken the mobs HP so that the mages are squishier.

But this is what one of our party members got after the end of the fight, it was one of the head pieces this might be the wrong one lol.

You only need 1 DoL everyone else DoW/M, but that gets really rough, I would try to get 2 DoL however lines will probably get broken through without DoH buffs.

Its alot easier with 2 DoL to keep buffs on.

Does the Regen from DoH actually help the Archer NPCs? When activated it says laborers, and once i activated it i targeted an Archer and didn't see his HP rising. This leads me to believe it only works for the cart NPCs?

And how exactly does the enmity reset work? I've had hate as a DoH and got a DoL to use the enmity reset, but the mobs were still on me afterwards. Someone said the enmity reset is used to get mobs off the carts? Or does it get mobs off the archers? Or what?

Been wondering that myself Riv. The wording does specify different types of militia NPCs though it's hard to tell which are which in some cases. If that is the case then that narrows down the crafting buffs you'd want to put up depending on the phase.

I still don't know how DoH works inside hamlet defence, do you craft or what? lol

I would expect all DoH buffs affect all npcs, or it would be impossible to do with only DoH/L (achieve for that)

It's also important to note some drops are from the other 2 unimplemented hamlets and those were just items that were .dat mined.

Are from Hrystmill (taken from Militia items implemented in 1.22 listing) the rest are from the other 2 not in game yet, which makes sense, 1 DoW hat, 1 DoL hat, 1 DoL offhand, 1 DoW pants per hamlet. I have a feeling the accessories might double up on a few though

Where did you get that list from? It sounds about right.

Seems the distribution for DoH secondary tools would be:

2 Hyrstmill
3 Wineport (guessing)
3 Silver Bazaar (guessing)

for 8 total.

which probly confirms that it will cycle between the 3 areas, 1 always being in battle mode

also some interesting sidenotes for achievments


1) They changed the requirement to earn the "no disciples of XXX" type achievemnts to be for level 5 hamlet only

2) They added achievments for having a specific score(up to 50k) in the combat phase
