This didn't need a forum post, as this has already been addressed by the development staff multiple times. If you're concerned about a specific situation of being unable to log in, please use the "Technical Support" forums at the link below:

How is making a post in Technical support going to help whole EU playerbase when we keep having issues with queues, 30 min + for world visist etc etc?
SE's DC is having technical issues, not the players.

Just wait for when Endwalker releases.
Both new and old whom are on break waiting for it will flood back.
Releases always add queues when there usually aren't any.
So this expansion will be a blast getting in to.
I hope people got Netflix or something while waiting in the upcoming queues.
Funnily not everyone got DC'ed, stayed logged in while half my FC ended up with an 1000+ que lol
I think it's completely reasonable for European players to be a bit annoyed at how we've been treated over the years. Let's not forget, we didn't even have servers located in Europe back when the game first launched. They came later into the game's lifespan. Even then, our regional servers overloading and crashing has not been an uncommon occurrence over the years. Some recent statements regarding upgrading our servers have been made, certainly, though arguably that is something that should have been done already. One has to wonder why so much of the game's budget being spent on marketing if the expectation is not player growth. Perhaps the development team were caught off-guard by the game's sudden surge in popularity but at the same time these issues can be mitigated in advance.
When a server goes down, having the huge queue to login is normal, in case you never experienced that in the past. Hell I have a login queue every day on my server. When/if it crashes, login queue numbers are in the thousands because everyone is rushing to log back in. No, I'm not in EU.
whats really troublesome is how will this play out in Endwalker ...
I mean i love full servers, but they gotta increase login capacity and concurrent playerbase..
Then EU needs at least another datacenter tbh
We have queues every day like everyone else but it's getting pretty frustrating when our servers keep going down on occation.
Theodric reply mimics prettty much what it been like playing in EU past 8 years, it's almost like they don't see us as much like NA and JP.
Both needs new data centers tbh.
NA has 3 data centers x 8 servers
EU has 2 data centers x 6 servers
I'm assuming you're calling me the Karen here. I'm just voicing frustration. If that makes me a Karen so be it.
Is it really entitled to ask for stable servers when we pay a monthly subscription? I didn't demand anything in my OP. But nice try.
Na needs another server before eu. We have a single one located on the west coast and player count is vastly bigger
Quite honestly, I am a firm believer that they implemented their hardware structure to the point of being horrible, and some decisions have made everything strained to the point that simply throwing more hardware at it won't solve the problem. Housing itself, the decor limitations being low, glamour dressers, etc. are all suffering something that should be relatively simple. I would also love to see the engine get a graphics update but dread to think what else would be limited or busted once that happened.
Both could do with an upgrade as both have seen a sharp recent increase in players.
Incidentally, we could probably do with a regional split to the English forum so that European players are actually allowed to put their case forward once in a while where issues related to European players are concerned.
Yeah... being mid DRS run trying to show newbies and teach them was NOT fun when servers cant stay up
Didn't they already make a comment about that they'd like to add more server capacity/ new servers but can't because of hardware shortage and travel restrictions?
I don't have a source at hand right now but I'm almost 100% sure they addressed it not long ago.
It's cause there is a giant global semiconductor shortage. And it doesn't help to just throw money at that problem cause they are produced in special factories and need special conditions to be produced, so it's really not that easy to just produce more. And they are needed for almost all high tech computer stuff. Especially the car industry has real troubles atm with that shortage. Servers also need them.
And yes besides that also the travel restrictions are part of the problem since SE has to send their people over but can't or won't if the country is just a giant corona hotspot.
Perhaps until they are in a position to increase server capacity through whichever method they choose, it is time to turn off the free trial. End of the day we have a situation of too many people trying to squeeze through the door. There are two solutions, one is widen the door (aka more sever space) the other is reduce the number of people trying to get through
Don't worry.
Surely the microtransactions of the cash shop will solve those issues!
Oh wait, we've had server issues and limitations since always, but the cash shop sells like hotcakes. Something does not compute~
Actually no, it can't.
Is not the first time it happens to them.
And if this is indication of whats to come with Endwalker.
Even less of a chance of being excused.
This is truly simple: SE doens't put money back into the game, thats all.
So a 20-30min login que is destroying all your plans for tonight? Are you also yelling everytime there is a traffic jam at the city cause they don't make the highway bigger in a instant just so you can get somewhere in time? xD
I mean how dare they making the highway so small, i mean it works for 99% of the time but now there will be a traffic jam for half an hour! That can't be tolerated! And sure, they should make the highway bigger. But i don't want to pay for that with my taxes obviously.
I have the feeling people like you would scream in any case, no matter what. Even if they say they double the sub fee so they can make up for inflation and increased server and developement costs you would probably still scream that it is so unfair.
I can live with longer login times, even though it's a bit annoying. And I'm happy new ppl join the game so frequently now, however..
..I'm very, VERY worried about the situation, once Endwalker launches. And I'm scared that the launch days, although they are always expected to be kinda chaotic, will be an absolute disaster this time around.
The Shadowbringers Launch was really smooth, and much better than the Stormblood launch for example (just thinking back to Raubahn Savage for example, lol. They definitely leaned from that). But I think they didn't expect such a sudden surge in players and won't be able to upgrade servers until Launchday. EU situation with login queues, Lag etc will most likely be terrible, but I'm totally hoping I'll be proven wrong.
Well it's not that hard to learn about the semiconductor shortage that is going on atm. They even explained it in a statement. But i guess some Xaela still don't understand it.
And it's not like the gaming industry is the only one that is hit by this. It's not like this "news" are going around in most media channels. It's not that hard to miss that most industries which produce hight tech stuff are literally forked by this shortage. There are even documentations out there about this!
I mean heck many car factories had to stop their production cause of this shortage, how the heck can you miss such important news and be so entitled that you think this is a problem that is solved with throwing money at it? You guys think SE can just go to the next black market and order some thousand semiconductors? xD
Yeah it crashed, yes it's annoying.
But it'll be fine.
Not like they want to lose their entire EU community and they won't do anything so don't worry.
I mean some crashes are fine. But what i'm worried about is that it will become very frequent. Just today i've had 3 Disconnects in a kind of short time span. And when the que is 3.600 players to get back in i feel it could get annoying very quickly. Espacially if you are in the middle of a dungeon or raid. Imagine trying to do a Savage or Ultimate fight and you all get these DC's with huge que times. It could make it so that it's just not possible to clear the content. Same with if there is lag. Lag on harder fights could make it so that players makes a misstake and will die, causing a wipe. So it does need to be adressed by Square enix atleast before Endwalker where the servers is going to be even more crowded.
They already adressed the problem, lol.
It is really not that hard to understand that this problem is something that can't be solved atm. It is really mindblowing how blind and just unwilling to learn some players are.
But to make an easy example for you fellas. IF YOUR LOCAL FARMER CAN'T SELL YOU POTATOES CAUSE THEY DON'T GET THE SEEDS DELIVERED, THEY CAN'T SELL YOU POTATOES. They might have some potatoes still in stock, but they can't sell you the same amount they did until they get their forking seeds. AND THERE ARE NO SEEDS ATM. And throwing money at the provider of seeds doesn't help cause...ALL THE FARMERS WANT SEEDS AND THE PRODUCTION OF SEEDS TAKES TIME. So it will take time.
Outside of major content updates and expansion launches I'd never had a queue to log into the game until they put the world visit system in unless there was an actual server issue that dropped a large amount if not all players from the game all at once.
I need a better way to kick all those tourists off my lawn :P
Yeah, Except it's not that simple. It's not like it's literally impossible to get new servers(or do something else to limit stress on the servers the already have). There are thing right now that is making it more difficult sure. It's just going to be alot more expensive since the supply is low and the demand is high. This said is it any wonder that people get upset if they literally can't play the game they pay a monthly fee for? It would have been smarter to have more servers before the shortage happened just in case things like this would have happned. Being proactive rather than reactive. Since the servers have been kinda full even before the surge of new players. This said i'm not that upset personally even if it might sound like it in this post. I'm just worried about the future since it would be sad if their success is ruined because of bad servers.
And with what do you fill this space? Hot air? Servers need semiconductors. There are no semiconductors atm. What should they do anyways, double the amount of servers so you don't have to endure like 20min of login que? Would you like to pay double the sub fee for this too? I mean the money for this has to come from somewhere right?
Stuff will calm down again, like it does after every new expansion release. Why the heck should you triple the amount of servers for something that will bother people for like some days? Sure you should ensure that everything is smooth. But you don't have to like overdo it to an extreme just cause some days were really busy. You don't just double the size of an highway just cause there is a traffic jam on a holiday. lol
You don't get it, the production of semiconductors is VERY limited. And the producers have CONTRACTS. BINDING CONTRACTS. They can't just say...oh yeah we will sell to the one which throws the most money at us. The car industry needs them. Smartphones. Laptops. PCs. Everything that needs computers to run and yes cars also need these. Against these SE is like a small fish in a shark tank anyways even if there weren't these contracts which binds the producer to deliver to their contractors.
The production time takes (average) 15 weeks. They have to be produced literally under lab conditions. They are literally produced in a nitrogen atmosphere.
Everytime I see my main character in Light with Data not retrievable I get really scared something awful happened to it but it seems the servers/DC are just having a meltdown judging by the huge queues. (Had like 1k to 4k)
Still I blame my optimism, it is really bad.
Yes i know this. But it only applies on the creation of new hardware. Not on existing already created hardware. They don't need to build new servers from scratch they could rent server space. And yes the production of semiconductors is limited but this does not mean 0 servers get created. You can take Sony with the PS5 as an example. They also need semiconductors. And this is why it's hard for people to get ahold on a PS5. But they still produce ALOT of systems. It's just that the supply is lower than the demand. Semiconductors are still being produced and it's not impossible for companies to get a hold of them, it's just that they can't produce as much as before.
tbh i dont see a point having free trial just with one big restriction which its limited to 60 lvl or some sort of msq etc. but hey, im agree with OP. its getting ridiculous, that lags can happen also during 4am or something .
they can try do some emergency solution just for some months before they will solve it for longer time
