Selene and Eos

Since there isn't any difference between Selene and Eos game wise anymore, I think it would be neat if we changed their models and assign a gender type for each fairly. Maybe change Eos to a male fairy and update his color palette to include more cool colors while Selene has more warm colors.

If they change my Waifu Eos to a Husbando, I'm quitting this game.

On a more serious note, I liked fairies more when they had heals and shields. Yes, it was unbalanced in favor of Eos, but at least the idea was in the correct direction.

I'd like a more complex pet system for Scholar and Summoner, or at least make it so it's not only aesthetic...

I'm also a fan of pet glamours, we definitely need more of that.

RIP Deployment tactics on Eos/Selene, it was fun while it lasted.

I really wish that Pets for both Scholar and SMN would be both targetable/killable again, since it had alot of potential abilitywise.

I miss this too. The main reason I used to do it was that I could control 100% where the deployment was coming from, vs players who move unpredictably.

Yet another thing that got sacrificed for balance and making raider (aka the vocal minority) happy.

Imo missed opportunity for the faeries to act like AST stances, Eos heals with regens and Selene heals with extra shields, but lets just gut it and get rid of that nonsense. We're never going back to pre SB faeries so at this point they should've done something crazy like have both faeries out and make aetherpact affect 2 target members simultaneously or fuse them to make seraph.

I'm also in favor of customization options for our faries. That been said I do have to disagree with one thing you said. If we are to decide new colors for our fairies then Selene must get cool colors because Selene is a reference of The Moon so she should be able to get colors like White, Silver, Blue and perhaps Purple?.
That has been my biggest issue so far... I don't like the colors Selene gets but I refuse to change her because as a Miqo'te Keeper of the Moon (and former harcore Night Elf fan XD) I choose to play with the fairy that resembles the most to my lore.

Sooo please? Can we get to choose different colors/skins for our fairies? =)

Tbh I don’t get why they deleted Selene’s abilities lol. They really weren’t that bad.

I mean, I do get why they done it. I’m just not sure I agree that turning Selene into a pet skin was really necessary to streamline the job or ‘remove needless complexity’. I don’t think Scholars have ever said ‘I don’t like having more than one fairy to choose from and would like you remove all of my options in future’ lol.

An ‘Egi glamours’ type system for Fairy would be pretty cool, but at the same time, I’d hate for them to use it an excuse to never consider making the fairies separate entities again. ‘Oh, but why would you want Selene to have her own abilities and value when we could keep developing new palette swaps of her instead?’

No seriously. Just leave Eos and Selene alone. You dont need to put a gender to everything. Its a fantasy world, not RL.
Maybe they will put Selene and Eos together, so you have only one fairy at the end.

Cite one established world progression SCH who wanted Selene to get removed or at the very least was pleased with the change.

Casuals are usually not known for being sniffy about unoptimised play or unbalanced jobs.
Meta slaves made that bed and now the have to lie in it. SCH was a collateral to bring all healers in line. A case of careful what you wish for. Why would casuals care about balance when quite a few don't even read ability descriptions as is so frequently mentioned on this very forum?

There's a subtle but important difference between "golly gee, these jobs have slightly varying outputs and I wish they were more equal" and "WTF, why are these jobs just straight up superior to this other one in every single way, and to rub some salt in they have actually functional job gauges and piles of utility on top of that".

One is an implied request for homogenization. One is a demand to fix the one that gets the raw deal.

So they answered both questions at once and gave everyone a raw deal. Because it took less design work.

If anything, you could make a stronger argument that Sylphies moaning that healing was too harrrrrrrrrrrd killed Selene. At least that's a visible direct causal relationship over the implied "balance them please", which is a request with more than one solution.

Buzz words don't make your point correct I'm afraid. Raiders weren't to blame for healers being streamlined into the brown mush that they are today. Ask any world prog healer that's been around since 2.0 and they will generally point towards Heavensward being the peak for healers.

I'm far more inclined to believe that SE took this approach to streamline the design process for healers and reduce the amount of time needed on each job within the role. The TLDR is that SE's job design team is stretched paper thin and that still stands true to this day.

Using Selene when she still functioned differently was basically a handicap to your healing output. Of course this was great when the content didnt demand extra healing but I imagine they didnt want novice healers to even have an option to heal "less". It also was a problem that Selene changed the skill and spell speed of the party with Fey Wind and that was awkward for a few jobs to deal with. There were so many ways to deal with the issues that didnt involve deleting Selenes existence tho. Im not sure any of that equates to a vocal group demanding changes either. High end raiders made good use of Selene and novice healers didnt want her erased either. Maybe ot was dps players who hated Selene but I never got that impression personally.

Don't get me wrong, I agree about the needing to invest more into healer design part. I already thumbs up'd your post. But that doesn't change he the fact that all jobs suffer from that. It's just way more noticable with healers (and tanks). No job is allowed to exel in something but also have clear weaknesses. They all must be the same. I'm already disappointed by the whole pure & shield healer thing as it means we'll never get something more interesting. But that's neither here nor there.

Just add Helios a male, and Dps fairy.

This would absolutely depend on how it's implemented. If you summon it instead of your healer faerie, then I completely disagree with it. While it would absolutely help in soloing and would create an element of optimization for high skilled players, this would risk proving toxic in the hands of less skilled players. Remember all the memes of SCH just sitting in cleric stance and not helping their co-healers heal at all? While at high levels of play SCHs absolutely carried their weight and more in heals, this meme certainly existed for a reason with more average players.

Personally if we where to have a dps faerie, it would need to be a seperate "turret" we summon and place on the field, just like a Searing Totem from WoW. Heck, you could divide it into two skills

Skill A: Summon Helios, who will strike the last target you applied Biolysis with Solar Ray, dealing fire aspected damage with a potency of X for Y seconds. Gain 5 Fae Aether everytime Helios successful strikes a target with Solar Ray.

Skill B: Summon Helios, who will create a Solar Wind in a 5 yalm radius around him, dealing fire aspected damage with a potency of Z to each target every 3 seconds for Y seconds, if Solar Wind hits more then 2 enemies gain 5 Fae Aether.

Fairy capabilities aside just give us customizable skins for the ones we have =(
I want my Selene too play the part! she should have a moon theme! that would fir perfectly with my Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te.

Agreed, this is what makes Deployment Tactics fun to use. Maybe it's not very powerful, but it certainly is fun to be able to deploy an untouched succor shield immediately after the previous shield was consumed.

Yo that could have been real neat!

Easy fix, Summon I and Summon II permanently upgrade into Summon Seraph. Seraph is now the permanent form of Lily. Yes, I said Lily, because Eos and Selene were merely "modes" she was in that effected her abilities prior to this (at least in ARR to SB) as stated by the Tonberry trainer.

I’d love this. Wonder why they haven’t added him yet. Maybe because they are afraid it would step on summoners door? It could also be a CD as well. Summon Helios for a certain amount of time to deal good damage then leave.

From what I've read the past years, people were asking Selene to be more useful outside of Fey Wind.
Silence and aoe dispel were niche and too situationnal to be worth.

No one asked, casual or raider her to be reduced to a fairy glamour.

Selene needed Fey Blessing instead of the awful Silence. She still would have been the low healing fairy but it would have been just enough to feel like she was still a healer's companion.

I mean dps healer wise it whas the peak but just don’t talk about the rest……. Like 1 healer job whas almost not playable (looking at astro). Whm whas mana starved and sch doing insane dmg and having the best tools and mana back then. Balance wise HW whas a rough road for healers. But every role had jobs no one wanted in progress groups aka monk, Paladin and astro. Feeling wise healers are so bad it’s insane but balancing wise it’s never been better (ofc it takes a entire expansion too get there like always)

That's a fair point, AST's dark days were primarily in Gordias, whilst WHM's MP starvation was more a Creator thing (especially A12S, that was awful). I'd say that Midas was actually pretty good though. SCH was still as good as indispensable but AST and WHM were very well matched for that tier to the point where I actually switched between the two depending on the turn.
