Male viera beard options…

Loving Male Vieras, except for their beard options, they’re… not the best. Here’s hoping every race end up being able to have some stubble.

I mean, let's be real. Most all the men in this game have terrible beard options. I'd just say that the stubble for Highlanders and one of the Roe beards are good, full beards.

Though that said, I will admit to being a little surprised they actually gave viera facial hair at all as soft boy as they made them look in the trailer.

That one goatee....that ONE goatee on that one face. It’s like they took it off a Roe and just taped it to the Viera. That’s only one that I’m just really not here for.

Wasn't the whole point of people requesting for Male Vieras that they wanted men that looked more like girls? Wouldn't a beard go against that?

No. The desires based on the lore we knew had the thought cannon of what they'd look like all over the place. You could pull out the physique and appearance form almost every race in the game and there were people who would have said "they'd look like that plus ears"

For my perspective, living alone and surviving off the land would have made me think they'd look more rugged than feminine.

Here's hoping that they can find a way to make beard options work like hair options for every face and race.

Maybe the vocal minority, but generally people wanted both a male and female version of Viera and Hrothgar. Personally I wanted a shorter male with more masculine appearance to include fur patches on the forearms and chest.

On the subject though I do have a complaint. Two face options basically have the pointed goatee/devil beard. Would be nice to have another choice.

Also there is a problem with Face 4 sideburns not matching up to certain hairstyles leaving an odd looking gap.

I noticed this too when seeing someone in the character creator, and it's strange when you consider the elezen and midlander sideburns go all the way up to the hairline. Though I do question: are those supposed to be actual sideburns, or are they face paint? I can't tell based off the picture if hair actually sticks out from the face at all.

Nah, it's hair. Changes color with hair color and showed strains with different colors. I think they just made it too short not realizing it would show like this with certain hairstyles.

The fact that face option 1 has no facial hair at all is VERY annoying. I dont know what the devs think when they make options for the character creation but its getting pathetic at this point.

Given how small they are, I'm not certain that they're intended to connect. It's not the full sideburns, just a deliberate patch, similar to the beard not being a full beard.

I agree the beard designs are strange and not at all what I expected (and I'm rather glad I didn't want one on my character anyway) but given the route they've taken, the isolated patches seem to fit with the rest of it.

(Headcanon: Viera can't actually grow facial hair so it's all fake beards and painted sideburns to signal to other races that they're definitely not women.)

Is the "painted feathers" design I've seen on some characters supposed to be sideburns as well? It looks like it's sort of trying to be, but definitely isn't hair even though it matches the colour.

Makeup was more important haha tbh face 1 is the less doll like and masculine. The salty face makes it more interesting to for a more agressive look but the options are more turned for another sweet dude look.

People complaining about the various Male Viera aesthetics need to realize you are screaming into the wind. This is locked. They are now optimizing the game. They aren't going to rework race designs and extras now.

Both Hrothgar and Viera still had a few changes here and there between their reveal and official release, and EW is still 4 months away, surely realigning a patch of hair closer to where it should be won't sacrifice a raid tier.

It's the Tattoo option for FACE 1 and the color is based on Tattoo Color, not to be confused with face paint though.

I hope they can at least polish the sideburns that don't reach the scalp.

As happy as I am about how the male viera turned out, the beards really are a joke.

Ah, okay. Maybe a few people are using them as substitute sideburns, then, because they've been matching the hair colour when I've seen them in people's characters.

Really some of the racial "tattoos" (across different races) look more like face paint anyway. It's more "unique face decorations" while the face paint choice is the same to all races.

I personally wished male viera would have been those little bunny dudes from the moon, they look cool and would give us a 2nd small race to play as.
