hang out with better less negative people then.
seriously, my experience is much different than yours it seems.
The obsession with 'The Community" in this game is really tiring.
Out of all the MMO communities, Ive experienced much friendlier and helpful people in FFXIV than any other community. Even FFXI which nearly required you to be helpful to get things done wasnt as friendly (though it was a close second to me).
I feel like the game's design fosters comaraderie in its own right. So thats good. But if you only look at the bad and dont look for the good, you're only going to find bad. So make sure to let go of the negativity you experience and dont wallow in it, because I guarantee there's far more good going on in the FFXIV community than bad.
You know, I've been playing this game for nearly 7 years now, and I haven't noticed any negativity from players within the game.
The only angst I've encountered is outside the game itself.
Perhaps something outside the game is skewing your perception?
Like forums? I think it is just a strong amount of love and passion that spills out unintentionally sometimes and us mistaken for anger
Don't tempt people with another otter fest. The fact you started the thread with one just marks this thread as a please delete this. As in the past they've even deleted posts in threads that had an otter in them. But, yes obviously the community is so negative reee.
If everyone around you is negative, then maybe it's you.
But go ahead and keep on posting otters, I've seen this result before.
We need another great otter purge! See look at all this negativity in this very thread.https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ac/c3...23834bf8bd.png
May the ghost from past remind of what could be. NeGaTiVitY ReEeeeeEe!
THis forum is just complaints anyway. It is the only thing people does here. In game it is much more chill. I've don't see even the half of non-sense complaints this forum has outside.
I know what happens to those who dare post pictures of harmless otters, so I will instead recommend this glorious track from FF7 Remake Intergrade.

Clearly what this community needs is more metal and Happy Turtle.
The Forums is like 10% of the community. The rest is alright, for the most part.
Yeah the forums are a bit of a wasteland but ingame has a very relaxing and chill atmosphere (in EU at least). Honestly, most of the community just wants to enjoy the game in peace without drama.
I'm glad that we can voice our concerns here but, I feel the constructive part has been kinda lost lately.
It's more like the game is filled with fake positivity. Imagine a world where dancers would dance partner the DPS instead of tanks or heals. That would be great but it doesn't happen and if you speak out about it, you'll get suspended so...
Nah, not really. Overall the community is very positive. Is it partly because they have to be? Sure, but good on SE for actually enforcing this part of the ToS. Without rules to follow there is chaos. Such is dealing with the rest of the human race. It kills me how so many people seem to have a problem with understanding that concept.
I'm not sure where this falls under fake positivity. If I queue with my friends for trial I'll always dance partner them no matter what role they are. Now, that's obviously a different matter in harder content but I'm positive that you will not get suspended for asking "can you give dance partner to me because I'm a dps?"
The hyperbolism makes me eye-roll.
Join Exodus world for nonstop positivity and helpfulness. Only solution available
Play WoW and get back to me on what you consider a negative player base.
Seems like it's just a handful of the same people who every couple days make another thread about how they hate the community, how it's toxic, how it's negative, etc... then point at some streamer as an example and blame everyone else.
In game, don't see any negativity. If you find something negative out of game- and I mean this honestly- stay off reddit, stay off twitter, stay off negative discords, and absolutely stay off twitter. Avoiding social media is a good way to have a more positive life- and not just for FFXIV, for anything.
May just be my experience but on the few servers I’ve played on I haven’t encountered much, if any, serious negativity. I mean there is always going to be a little bit of it no matter what. But the serious negativity I’ve seen, not encountered, has come from things related to XIV but aren’t in game. Forum post, discussion of streamers, etc.
I'm not sure that I see the negative community anywhere except here and Reddit and Twitter and even then it's like a handful of the same people who troll. In-game it is hardly an issue.
Just saying those that are undermining the claims of negativity could be seen as negative. Though I get the position, FFXIV has a reputation to uphold.
We all take the role of the silly clown here.
In my experience, if you want to see negativity, go to the forums of a game.
In game, much more pleasant. Out of game, in the forums, it's an absolute cesspit.
It's much easier to talk about the things that annoy us about the game than it is to get hyped for the things we enjoy. This is probably my favourite game, but I could go for days talking about how I dislike healer changes over the expansions, or what I'd do to improve Dark Knight, or that one dungeon run, etc. They're just more interesting in the long run. Especially with players who have been playing for as long as most of us have been and have to deal with it way more often. The end of Shadowbringers was fantastic, yes, but that was 2 years ago, meanwhile WHM is still a one button rotation, for example.
I've got places to go for more positive chats. Like a discord full of people who are just starting up, and I get to live vicariously through them and join in with their hype, and it's great. But then I go back to my old grump chats and argue about aggro management for the 5th time this month.
This forum is astronomically more negative and toxic than anything I've ever seen in game.
I'd say this is typical for most forums. It's just more common to have people come about and complain about something that is wrong than give praise for what works right. That and sometimes the people who do dislike something are really the minority.
Right now I'd say the community has a few good reasons to be a bit sour, but it relates to the later content released during the lull between expansions rather than the expansion itself. Bazja had a ton of problems that plagued it for a good couple of months and the big crafter push that had went so positively had diminishing returns after the second phase of reconstruction. One could say the game is incredibly fun to play through, but due to all that focus on the playthrough, the end game activities and class design can be rough.
