How do you feel about the stances for map parties. I for one been in both types. The thing is I prefer if it is my map per say for example I rather be owner need since it was my map which I either gathered or bought.
How do you guys/girls feel?

Was there a question in there?
FFA because maps are layers of rng on top of rng, and the last time I ran with a group that was map owner need... one person lucked out and won millions of gil in (multiple) minions and crafted pieces, while me and my friend got close to nothing valuable or wanted at all for our maps. I wasn't even claiming need on half my own stuff either because everyone in the group is contributing to every map.
Imo, as long as you bring one map to the party, you should be able to roll on everything. Exceptions being if there's one thing somebody really wants, then we'll throw that out ahead of time and help each other out usually. It's why I just run with friends, really.
FFA is best in general. If you're actually trying to get something specific (dont, just farm the money to buy it on the mb), then I run a variant of owner need with friends where it's owner gets to need on one thing per each of their maps but otherwise it's FFA.
It's basically the same RNG.
With owner need you can get all the loots if your maps spawn portals, but won't get anything if they don't.
With FFA you can get loots even if your maps don't spawn portals, but there's a chance you won't get any loot for your own map's portal.
So none is really better than the other.
My fc does map owner. Bit we also tend to just give each other the minions and rolls we need when they drop so...
FFA. Owner needs seems just unfair to me.
You can bring 5 maps, get only 1 portal that ends after the first room and gain basically nothing, while someone who brought 2 can get to the last room and cash in like crazy.
If everyone participates in killing the mobs, everyone should get a chance to roll. /shrug
Absolutely FFA.
Exact same chances long term, but no one gets screwed if the group disbands when some people got to run 3 maps and a few only got 2 done. No one can steal "your" loot. It's just a more PF friendly system. Maps are generally dirt cheap or easy to gather anyway, if we run in FC I don't even care if people bring one or not.
FFA
There is no way to enforce Owner Need, and I've been in parties where it's not respected and I lost loot. Best to just have FFA from the beginning then so no one gets jerked over.
FFA is far less drama because no "accidents" will happen. Everyone is going to be making a fair amount of gil and have equal chance at winning the rarer loots. At most, the party leader just needs to make sure everyone is contributing a map.
If you prefer owner need, then join only those parties.
FFA. It's all too easy for one person in Owner Need parties to come out on top because RNGesus blessed them with good portal drops and door guesses, and the opposite for people with bad luck.
My map LS leader (love ya, Tiff!) does owner need outside, FFA inside (if portals pop), and if we're doing Gazelleskins, owner rolls need on Thief maps if/when they drop so they can open portals and choose the doors in the Hidden Canals too (still FFA for everyone inside). I think it's a fair deal for everyone involved.
Eh, everyone is free to run their parties however they want. Owners need vs FFA can be risky business though if someone doesn't want to play by the rules established by the group. The lower risk option would probably be FFA.
These are rules that me & my friends set for maps party:
The chest outside portals is owner’s.
The chests inside portals are FFA.
This is to ensure that every gets at least something in the event when everybody’s terribly unlucky to not spawn any portals while assuming all member contributing at least 1 map.
FFA, though my FC started doing owner needs on outside drop (before portal spawn) and everyone needs inside portal, which I don't mind so much either.
FFA everything. Even if it is my map, I wouldn't have gotten there without the rest of the party. So we all get a fair share at the loot. Just have a requirement that everyone brings at least one map.
FFA, I've been in map parties where I've helped people do maps and then when I was given a chance to speak up about having a map or two they'd decide to stop doing maps. So if it was owner need I'd have been fucked over and probably would gave told those people (who were my friends) to go f*** themselves.
Personally prefer owner need over FFA. Only run maps with FC mates so "accidents" typically never happen and drama is non-existent.
Players tend to stay longer in a FFA group since loot pool is for everyone for every map opened. I even actively hand out additional maps to others without one since I always stock up on 6 or 7 of them from gathering.
This. With 'Owner Need', you can spend 15 minutes getting through all rooms, and make it to the final room, and it all feels as though you're just working for someone else's paycheck.
FFA makes every dungeon, and every room, and every victory feel like a team effort, and a team prize.
It must feel great to do maps with someone that gets super lucky and gets 5 chests+ Which you helped with, to not to be allowed to roll anything ^^"
No thanks!
Because "owner need" has no way to enforce it, anybody can actually just NEED if it's the valuable item and take it from the owner...
I suggest "EVERYBODY NEED" a third method. If you want it, you use need.
