Square Enix,
Please treat the best thing you made (objectionably) with more respect.
I will pay full price for a good upscale on the Switch.
That is all.

You got them forum and roman numbers wrong my dude. Need to invert the V and I and add an X in front.
I think the FFVI-content we got in FFXIV was pretty well done? I enjoyed it a lot! And the painting they added with the last patch is quite funny, too!
...thats what you're talking about, right? FFVI-content in FFXIV? Because anything else wouldnt make much sense in a forum about FFXIV... this isnt a "general FF feedback forum" or a "general SE feedback forum" after all...
Go do Stormblood.
Upscaling a 16bit game won't do much. The best way to play these games is by lowering your resolution to the resolution they used in old TVs to match what the game originally ran at, or close enough.
Upscaling only works down to ps2 games, anything before just looks out of place.
You meant, "objectively" right?
They've nearly referenced every boss from VI in it FFXIV with full renders of many of its concept arts and sprites.
Still waiting on Hidon, Intangir, Presenter, Umaro, Zone Eater, Borras, Flame Eater, Tritoch, Wrexsoul, and The Three Dream Stooges.
I kinda have a good feeling about the Three Dream Stooges showing up in Endwalker along with the Magus Sisters from IV.
Did you see the whole "I want to kill Chaos" thing?
It's just as well they aren't getting around to desecrating FF6.
As much as I love 6 i wouldn't mind some Chrono Trigger love in 14.
Yo, I totally agree. Signal boosting this.
I only recently learned how much of a difference there is between even just playing an old game on a modern TV, and playing a game on the display is was made fo display on. This twitter account has opened my eyes:

And honestly the pixel remasters will probably end up on Switch eventually.
FFVI content in FFXIV is really well done. As a fanatic for FFVI, I really appreciate what I'm seeing so far. I do wish from this content we'd get a FFVI remake proper, but hey, at least I get to have something of it in another great game (FFXIV)! :)
That comparison right there explains very well what I mean. I always tell my friends to stop taking jabs at older ps1 and SNES games just because they look like crap on your 4K monitors. You don't even have to get a CRT tv, just get an old enough computer monitor that can take RCA cables (this is what ps1 and SNES used to use for image transmission) and you're good to go; configure the resolution and you're playing the real FFVI.
With the addition of the Satellite (Chaser/Telstar/Innoc for us oldies) enemies in Zadnor, almost every single Magitek enemy from FFVI is now in FFXIV as well. Only thing I think we are missing are the Drop enemies ( little ball-shaped droid on a chain) and the Crane bosses.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've no memory of the, "Proto Armor" type enemy being in FFXIV yet.

We have also not seen Pipsqueaks(later called Onion Knights).

But I think that is everything.
There's an actual Proto Armor FATE in the Shroud as part of the Sylph beast tribes. If you've ever leveled them up you know cuz it's a pain waiting for it to spawn. Basically, the Reaper M-tek armors are the Proto Armor/Fortis variation on the armor, which is based on Amano's design, and the Predators are classic M-tek Armor/Mega Armor/Dueller design we see more commonly in FFVI.
Pipsqueaks I'm not really sure about. They are actually properly translated Onion Knights, so we do have that reference in the game already (although the other two variations Tomb Thumb/Onion Dasher and Iron/Metal Hitman can still be used namedrop-wise), and I'm not sure if they are actually mechanical or just some sort of little person. It's a weird enemy, which is all the more reason to use it lol.
To me, the Pipsqueak is definitely mechanical. They're weak to lightning as most things are in the Magitek Research Facility. Every thing there smacks of being robotic or cybernetic at the least. Even the Garms and Commandos are weak to lightning, likely augmented by machines.
Not gonna like, snap if they never add Pipsqueaks, but I think it'd get a few memes out of the playerbase if they did, heh.
It wouldn't have to be the same scale as FF7, of course, though it would be nice to have it taken seriously and presented in a way for new people to get into it. As evident by the recent Remaster collection though, simply redoing the existing sprite work is not enough (they actually kinda look worse). So while yes the original graphics are charming and nostalgic, those older games deserve to have a new coat on them just as other games have gotten and it wouldn't ruin FFVI whatsoever to have it. It would all depend on if they changed anything else about the game, like setting, lore, characters, music tc. Though hell, at this point, I'd settle even for an older graphical engine for FF1-VI, maybe FF12(R) or PSP styled graphics? Nothing too outrageous that it can't be done, but it still looks mighty great.
As a huge fan of FFVI, it's what I personally want. :)
