Get ready for an influx of toxicity - homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism...
This is the worst day of my life.
Who?

Who is he and why should I care? Square Enix is still not going to fix the issues with this game whether he joins or not.
I'm excited to see where this leads! It will be very interesting to see what WoW content creators such as Bellular and Asmongold think of FF14. Their different approach to content may give us a different take on FF14 that can only better this game.
The more people who try out the game the better honestly. No need for us to try to gate keep anyone from trying the game out.
Square sure cares :)

With how atrocious the ARR storyline is and how there's an endless wave of boring cutscene-laden fetch quests, I can't imagine Asmongold would last longer than a day. This is why Square Enix needs to fix the ARR journey. The quest abridgement wasn't enough.
Weren't you more declaring that once he descended from his trash heap he'd somehow change this game to be more like WoW?
He's gonna dunk on the game and y'all are gonna get upset.
Oh great his fans and his guild are a meme for a reason. They can barely complete a raid with two mechanics total and spent like 8 hours wiping to a raid that's more than a decade old. Any actual triple legend would not want this horde of casuals to come to this game.
I'm not really excited. I have a feeling he is going to listen to some of the people and just boost to Shadowbringers. It is completely pointless as a majority of Shadowbringers will make very little sense to him. Warriors of light you do not even learn about until Heavensward.... ARR introduces you to Minfilia and the Scions..... Eldibus is in ARR content.....you learn about the sundering in ARR....
I just get the feeling he is going to boost maybe like some of the style then spend the next 10 years talking about how horrible the game is to a very large audience because some people never bothered to pay attention in ARR.
I really do like that SQUARE ENIX responded to him on Twitter and welcome him to FF14
The great attention seeker comes to the place where he will get the most attention (and money) possible.
Shocking!
woooooo...
I would love to think were more mature than that. If he has valid points people shouldn't reject it outright. We've lost at least 1 amazing content creator due to the community pitch forking them out because they raised valid criticism about the game.
Of course its a different matter if he acts like Sodapoppin did in his reaction to the Endwalker trailer and dismisses everything without giving it a proper try.
I'm happy about it! I'm genuinely curious to see what he thinks about the game and what his exodus means for the future of FFXIV on Twitch and WoW as a whole.
He is the most popular World of Warcraft streamer that nets around 1 to 2 million views per stream. Having him stream FFXIV is huge for the game as FFXIV struggles on platforms such as Twitch. It's free advertising and no doubt Square Enix will see a massive influx of players because of this. Possibly they will get a boot up the ass to fix some of the more egregious issues in the new player experience and PvP.
Having a large audience means he has a lot of influence, and believe it or not... influencers do influence the products they try out. A shocking concept.
Say no to mythic +.
How bored do you have to be to log on to a bunch of your other recently-created alt accounts to post in the same thread?
As a Returner from 1.0 I'm excited to see what happens next.
In good faith? What am I seen as some troll?
From the little I've played of WoW, the PvP was much better, BG's were entertaining enough on their own, and that's all I did on the majority of characters. With a little bit of open world PvP - but I don't think WoW does that anymore. In terms of PvE, this game caters far too much to the casual audience in my opinion, and it could use some different viewpoints. Like how 4 man 'savage' content might be seen as an impossibility right now. Frankly, even the new player experience here sucks, and could learn some things from WoW. At least a free boost or something! Plus when I played in Legion, if I recall my boosted character had a sort of training experience when I created it.
Never could get into WoW when I played it, the leveling experience was alright though cause Number Go Up makes my brain happy. Yeah we could use harder 4-man content for sure and I didn't quite like the idea of alliance raids being tuned to where it's almost expected that a few vets have to/can carry clusters of people who are checked out. Mainly my comment to OP was that they've repeatedly stated they want this game TO BE WoW which eh no thanks. We could take some things from them for sure to improve engagement.
We live a community that actively shuns new players, just for coming from a different game. Shameful display.
I hope they are ready to hire an additional army of moderators.
I'm not welcoming to people who are toxic, bigoted, and sexist. The game might initially grow but would be set on a path to become just like every other toxic gaming community where many don't feel welcome and end up leaving.
It's not shunning "just for coming from a different game," but for coming from a game that has an incredibly toxic community. Not everyone that plays WoW is toxic of course and I'm all for people joining FFXIV, as long as SquareEnix is still able to enforce their rules on a larger playerbase.
Imagine having so little faith in your "great community" that when players from other backgrounds want to jump you treat it like a sand castle about to fall. If all you idolize about a community is stagnation, then that community has no tomorrow.
Cool.....is it somehow special that hes playing the game?
Asmon himself isn't the problem, if anything that's yet another blow to Blizz - his tempered hivemind fanboys, on the other hand, will likely make the "tales of Duty Finder" thread implode for a while, but just let the ARR leveling process inevitably cull or cure them as it did most of us WoW refugees
Aspects of the XIV community are just as toxic (not THE community as a whole, that'd be a lie) and SE has shown they crack down when it's particularly bad, at least in-game. I love this game to death but just like I have yet to meet a legendary Blizzard Mage, I've yet to meet a WoW player trashing the game or other folks in-game. I do however run into folks that have an aversion to WoW and FFXI... and ESO... and PSO2... and their players trying out the game.
Edit: actually I redact that blizzard mage statement, I remembered when I did lol point still stands though!
14 certainly does have it's share of shady players. You haven't seen ugly till you get a super nice drop from a map while in a group and someone rolls need when everyone else rolls greed.
Like it wasn't a matter of time for someone like him to check this game out themselves anyway ^^
More players = good!
Probably the biggest streamer by a long shot on twitch to play the game.
Honestly don't watch him but it kinda shows that this community has its own toxicity based on some of the replies as a community we should welcome anyone that wants to play the game if he likes its good otherwise it doesn't matter but I feel some people here will be personally insulted if the game isn't for him.
Never heard of them.
