Some interesting stuff in all of them, thanks for sharing- of course everyone would love to have more thick details on the expansion but that's going to be answered by themselves when they want to answer it themselves lol (not by someone asking them for it).
I chuckled for this one though because the forums, community at large, what have you, loves to make it a team death sport, like the rest of everything to be fair (not this game unique, just a weird human thing to do):
Naturally this doesn't mean copy paste, but inspiration, yet showing again that WoW, among other MMOs (which he is aware and references many others, and shows them respect too), has had influence and it's not some grand sin to reference since Yoshida himself views games as a learning opportunity (as he should, its free high quality research- you'd have to pay significant money to get this level of market and prototype research and it's all free, I'm glad he looks out to other games because not doing that would be like trying to do a marathon with one leg). Of course I also feel this is how SE works with us, often I feel our feedback is represented in design with their own twists (especially when you make a time scale of about 6 months to a year, if not longer depending on request). If there was no World of Warcraft – which is a game we look to as a great ‘mentor’ of sorts, and respect deeply – FFXIV’s strong recovery wouldn’t have been possible.
On the whole inspiration and journey of crystal balls to funnels thing, I wonder if we had any influence on that - there was a thread on unique weapon concepts and I had posted both LoL champion with the swords that float behind her, FFXV's noctis, and then kael'thas with his crystal orbs, pushing for a weapon concept that involved floating objects, and then later posted Geoknight which used crystal pylons (floating behind the back). Of course it could just be circumstantial but it was a bit.. "wait a sec. . . " lol. -

Can't remember who started this but I read fungi as one idea, and there was the thoughts on Honey Lemon from big hero 6- moving away a bit from the poison identity one might have of shrooms I thought it might be a cool basis for a chemist who makes this living magic they chuck (via some mannor) at allies and enemies. Giving everything a rapid growth / living edge, like if you tossed a CC spell at a monster it might turn into rapid growth similar to what you see in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with the main villain when he spreads his seed on the planet. Opportunity for a visual in magic we've not quite explored (giving magic a living viscous physical sense, you could try to add a lot of weight "creep / expanse, general thick and weighty magic / entity"). Take away some of the alien vibes but adding some thoughts of Zerg (and of course turning magical, just those thoughts on living substance, like The Expanse, the tv show). Maybe the wapon could be a sort of pronged like Kunai that with magic form spheres when the player infuses them with magic (some sort of aetherial chemistry, living magic) able to throw living magic at their enemy (reason then to use the spheres is to prevent it growing/reacting when you're not ready for it to, so it gives it a sort of lore reason). Then the weapons can be adorned on the player when not in use, and not look like a big of balls on the character lol.Quote:

Personally when thinking magitek chemist, thinking engineer, so like the job would do something with gadgets, construction, and technical designs- may have things like build a shield dome (perhaps on their roomba buddy lol), throw 'grenades' that expel clouds of healing mist, calling down orbital attacks on their enemy, you may even think of something like the chain lightning like healing beam (from Overwatch) as a weapon. Some two handed multi-tool ceruleum misting aether spewing contraption. Medics from Starcraft, etc. Very high tech, industrial theme'd. When I referenced MCH I was thinking along those lines, although given that I assume "garlean" influence for the job- probably more high tech looking lol. Also potentially the opportunity to give a healer some heavy AF armor, which could be different.
Although I would say I'm personally more into magic, swords, medieval high fantasy stuff (which is why I listed ;living magic; idea first). So I'd probably look at the living magic deeper first (not that I'm opposed to thought experiments in general, I find them fun even when they're not my priority bias), although if someone was giving me reigns to design a job I'd probably be looking at a transforming job before trying to make chemist happen. It's a cool idea but it's not the role play fantasy I'd normally try to inhabit myself. That said I still think it potentially could be interesting to see in the game, given someone at SE comes at it with the right angle. I also imagine it wont be called Chemist, even if it's clearly "chemist" ;P. -

Especially if they will, in the end, rework existing armor system to make it less time/resourse demanding (which they seem to want to do though not with much of a success for now) - in that case making new races might become less of a chore than it is now. So as a whole, asking doesn't really hurt. -

They said they didn't think they could afford to do any more races, and that's why they combined Viera and Hrothgar into a single split race. Then all the outcry happened and they looked at it and decided maybe they can just manage to squeeze one last pair of new models in to complete the existing races, if they put in some overtime to make it all happen, but there are still ongoing costs as a result of doing that.
So if it's already stretching resources to answer this request, it seems unlikely that they can give any more beyond it even if they want to. -

Chemist doesn't even have to shoot real healing bullet. You can make them shot charged aetherial energy via bazooka or something.
Anyway, my idea of chemist is that it use special "gun" that have chambers filled different potion liquid. You can rotate those chambers if you want to change which potion you use. The chemist would need to use their aether to charge the gun, which will cause -insert whatever aether terminology here- and the gun will shoot condensed aetherial energy with the same properties as the potion, or combination of them. That way we can have battle medic who use potion, but still considered as magic user.
This may sounds complicated, but they can translate it into chemist gameplay as "chemist stand still to charge(cast) their gun and shoot their teammates with healing spell(aether energy witg healing properties, like gnb aurora)". Done.
I know their excuse is that they can't find suitable weapon for it, but somehow I have suspicion that it's more about balancing the healers issue. -

Historically in Final Fantasy it has almost NEVER been a DPS, and even when it could, it wasn't the primary goal. Plus, if it ended up being a dps, it would have to have a LOT of support, which would further push Bard and Dancer out of the way. It would be better if it joined up with Astrologian, giving the healers another support based healer.
I really want to see Bard get more of its utility back, and I don't think it would do the game any justice if it were in the way as a DPS. It needs to be a healer, and only a healer as its primary goal. That way we can form a niche and leave the other support DPS's to continue to get better as time goes on. -

While we need to be aware of the overall landscape and situation for our game, it is naturally of the utmost importance to know what you—the players who spend so much time playing the game—feel, think, and desire as we continue to provide this service to you.
As mentioned in my earlier response, when we were coming up with ideas for the reaper’s weapon, it goes without saying that if we want our players to be happy, we need to be aware of the large amount of requests to add the scythe as a weapon. Additionally, because we plan the overall content direction, pacing, and distribution for FFXIV a few years in advance, it is important for us to listen to everyone’s voice. It can be dangerous when the direction that players desire does not line up with the direction we’re headed in. On the flip side, we don’t necessarily take all requests and feedback and implementing everything as is being asked.
The viewpoints of the players and the development and operations teams are fundamentally different.
People tend to provide feedback on short-term items that focus on the present, whereas we inevitably think about things on a much more longer-term basis. I’m afraid this might be an extreme example, but let’s talk about Allagan tomestones. I’m sure you are aware there is a weekly cap—you can collect a maximum of 450 tomestones each week. Our players have different lifestyles and schedules, so on some days somebody might be able to play enough to obtain 900 (hypothetically), and some days they might not be able to get any. So, I can understand why players would ask for the weekly limits to be less strict—providing more leeway for players to collect these tomestones when their schedule allows.
However, if we go that route, there will be people who can fully upgrade their gear right away, and those who can only do so after a few weeks. As a result, there will be a greater disparity in the gear between these players, creating a severe disparity in item level between players doing the same content. If that happens, the gap between those who have the time and those who do not becomes greater, and ultimately damages the community. So we can understand the one side of the debate, if you look at it from the perspective of long-term operation of the game and avoiding disparity between players in the community, the weekly cap is a good system to have in place. This is one instance where it’s difficult to accommodate a player request with no consideration.
We will continue to be mindful and pay close attention to each players’ voice for the sake of further expanding Final Fantasy XIV, and constantly assess that feedback. If there is a request we cannot fulfill on a short-term-basis, we will not necessarily give up on it—sometimes we spend a few years working on something so we can make it a reality. The World Visit System and Data Center Travel are two great examples of long-term efforts eventually being realized. We would love to hear your feedback moving forward, too! We will do our best to make them happen to the best of our ability!!
