One of my ideas after trying out Bloodborne is a Scouting+Aiming Melee DPS called "Huntsman", which uses a one handed Axe and a Pistol.

Well, this is FFXIV not Bloodborne.
I think one is enough xD.
Indeed, that's enough. Especially since we already got a full set of bloodborne-like armor with the current stonegear.
I was more thinking it could be a great fit for non-Soulsborne related stuff as well. We don't have a one handed axe class, after all. Plus it could be the Melee DPS's "minimal magic" class (Tank has Gunbreaker and Ranged DPS has Machinist). I could even see it being Merlwyb's new class.
As long as it had a different lore and colour scheme, it could work.
So nothing to do with Voidsent or 'Darkness', but then what is left that would really work for a 'Soulsborne' aesthetic? Some kind of Blood theme maybe? Would that effect the rating?
I don't think you can call it a soulsborne job, it's kind of inspired with leather gear and it use a scythe but that's it.
We also recently got the cryptlurker gear.
And we don't need more, some other people wish to have a job that fit theirs needs too.
There's a demand for geomancer, rune knight/templar, Beastmaster (non-limited finger crossed) and I think that's it so far.
This job is literally called Reaper, the only similar part is AF gear design. Actual gameplay and job aesthetics have 0 connection to Bloodborne.
Ok, may I was overstating it being related to Bloodborne. Ignoring that, what do you all think of my "Huntsman" class idea?
Why wouldn't it happen? We have neither a one handed Axe nor a one handed Pistol class, plus many have been wanting the Musketeer class, this would be a good balance without making it too much like Machinist. Also, my idea would have it be a Scouting+Aiming Melee DPS, not a Ranged DPS.
Oh great, this debate again...
1. Those are all different classes of sword. This is a Final Fantasy game, it's just how it works in this sort of fantasy setting. Many different classes of sword, one form of gun.
2. MCH uses Pistols. Many of it's weapons are pistols, some are shotguns, some are even sniper rifles. Besides, if you think MCH uses a Musketoon, then why would you suggest Musketeer as a Pistol job?
3. You've severely misunderstood final fantasy job classes if you think there's going to be other gun wielding DPS job. For the thousandth time, it's not going to happen. We have our Gun DPS job, we have our gun tank job too, GNB. Only hope was for a gun wielding Chemist as a healer, and that hasn't happened. You could loosely say Sage uses firearms though.
4. We're also not going to get another job with an offhand weapon, and I'll never understand why people think we're ever going to get some kind of 'combo' job that uses TWO different weapons. Insane.
with the right glam you can already go GiantDad.
kinda.
The Axe and Pistol combo would count as one weapon, like Ninja's twin Daggers or Red Mage's Rapier and Focus. And, once again, it would be a Melee DPS, not Ranged. The gameplay would involve stringing together combos with Axe slashes and Pistol shots, to put it simply.
Fun fact:
When planning 3.0 one of the first jobs the devs worked on was a gun toting Chemist.
Due to balancing problems with the Mix command and the desire to implement an all-new weapon type, the idea was scrapped. Mixing items turned into drawing cards, and chemist turned into AST.
The gun side of the scrapped chemist became MCH.
I don't see how reaper is "soulsborne" inspired as a job... if you're looking at "uses scythe" then sure? You're the one boss in Bloodborne who uses that weapon and you can unlock for new game + but by that logic, using great swords on dark knight, or using a sword and shield on paladin, or twin daggers on ninja etc are all copies of soulsborne jobs, just gotta do the right glam to make that work, and the latest tomestone set helps a lot (also for monk and ninja, the dreadwurm dyable top work pretty well for this too)
My sub is ending tomorrow, so won't be able to respond to this thread since I won't be able to access the forums.
Reaper moves like Gw2 Reaper, with wide fast swings of the scythe. I don't like the armor since it looks like a slightly altered version of the void ark and scion traveler armor.
Crossbow- would be another gun-fu class like mch who jumps around for no reason other than literally so that it's more visually "appealing" when it's really just a little silly.
Boomerang - jumping up to grab it and matrix dodging would make more sense I guess.
Also Rinoa's gun arm boomerang thing could be a source of inspiration.
